NO to death threats against Karpal

I wanted to state my categorical objection to any threats to visit violence on any individual, in light of the bullets sent to Karpal Singh.

Whatever his or her political beliefs and strategies, no one deserves to be threatened with violence. Those who would do so are but animals.

I take comfort in the fact that YB Karpal is not an easily cowed man, and hope that wisdom will prevail on all sides.

Waythamoorthy’s Exile Intensified

Sigh, poor guy.

I’ve been on the road long enough in my ‘youth’ to know that it sucks to be far from home, even with a passport and the ability to return any time.

This man has a wife and child, whom he has not seen in months and months. Even if he returns, the blind, ignorant and cruel wrath of our government will see to it that he still doesn’t get to see them, except from behind bars.

Cruelty.

And the man’s brother is faring much better either.

We want justice!!

Khairy Pigs Out

The Star via Jeff:

“A state government had put its priority in approving the Projek Khinzir Raksasa (Gigantic Pig Project) or its short form PKR,” said Khairy Jamaluddin (BN-Rembau)

Tsk, tsk. For a minute there he was all repentant, tail rightfully between his legs, and even talking about things like press freedom.

Turns out? Bullshitlah. This is the Khairy of Jerlun, the one who thinks he can still score points using racist posturing. I guess some pigs can’t change their spots eh?

Hokay then, you keep pushing that line. I don’t think we’ll be too disappointed about where you end up.

*

Untuk rekod, dalam isu projek penternakan khinzir yang dilulus kerajaan Khir Toyo disambungi kerajaan PR kerana, tak salah saya, terdapat 3 pilihan sahaja berkenaan isu penternakan khinzir.

a) Biarkan sistem sekarang, yang berselerak dan menjanakan pencemaran.

b) Haramkan sama sekali penternakan khinzir.

Tee Keat Sees The Light

Malaysiakini:

The main Chinese-based component party in the ruling coalition government must adopt a multiracial approach to survive in the new political landscape, said one of its top leaders.

The call by Ong Tee Keat, a vice-president of the MCA, comes after the Barisan Nasional’s worst losses in the March polls, with voters backing a more multiracial opposition alliance.

“We need to project a multiracial outlook and multiracial approach to handle the people’s concerns,” Ong told state news agency Bernama.

“I am strongly convinced that this is the way out for the party if you really want to keep the party relevant.”

Well, I guess it’s good that he’s no fool :) I’m not optimistic that his calls will produce much in MCA (we already know Donald will throw MCA’s constitution at him :) , but it will be interesting to follow.

Should this sort of thinking prevail, we will be another step closer to a two party system - albeit one without much differentiating the two sides, ideologically. It’ll come down mostly to governance track record, and I’m fine with that.

Hmm, although maybe he’s actually alluding to joining Pakatan, aheheh :)

Makkal Osai threatened racial harmony? More dinasour thinking

Syed Hamid Albar and the Makkal Osai incident:

Home Affairs Minister Syed Hamid Albar today said he decided to stop leading Tamil-language daily newspaper Makkal Osai from being published because it had violated guidelines threatening racial harmony.

Makkal Osai’s general manager SM Periasamy yesterday said the daily received a letter from the home ministry refusing to renew its annual permit, without giving reasons.

Syed Hamid said the guidelines stipulated that newspapers should not raise sensitive issues that could threaten racial harmony and the country’s stability, Bernama reported.

As usual, in Malaysia, anything that isn’t rabidly pro-BN ‘threatens racial harmony.’

Some things just never change. I guess BN won’t, and that more than anything will ensure their timely extinction.

PR PR, Makkal Osai, Altantuya, Azalina’s Theft, KeADILan Targeted

So many issues today, and haven’t done a “little points” style posting in a while. All about variety eh?

I have to say that Karpal Singh taking a swipe at the Kelantan royalty, while perhaps in some ways justified, is not the most strategically sound thing to do. In Singapore, I spoke a lot about the need to craft messages that are likely to garner results - not those that are nice to hear coming out of our mouths, but hurt our ultimate goals.

The reason for this is encapsulated in my obsessively linked post about how the best community to speak out against Malay supremacy is the Malays. This doesn’t mean the rest of us should be stopped from saying what we think, but I think we should think very strategically about this, and the best use of our resources is to defend and advocate across racial and religious lines, and not fall prey to the stereotype of Chinese defending Chinese, Muslims defending Muslims, etc. Yeah, it may sound like a lot to achieve, but so did March 8 :)

YB Karpal puts me in the mind of YB Nik Aziz. Both older, great men who ooze integrity, but whose public relations (Pakatan Rakyat Public Relations - PR PR? :) … sometimes leave something to be desired. Of course, KeADILan has its fair share of politicians with their foots in their mouths :) Learning process I guess.

On the subject of communications, I am appalled at the ban on Makkal Osai. I guess those hoping that BN will take steps towards reform and learn that repression is why they lost will be disappointed. If this is the beginning of greater repression, I think BN is starting a war they will ultimately lose. If they really want to, bring it on.

Mind you, they seem a little busy fighting their own wars. Najib now going around the country getting support? The main question on my mind is: What’s going to happen with the Altantuya case?? I’m most curious about what may be Abdullah’s trump card.

Though again, let’s not spend too much time speculating about a political entity proved time and again to be bereft of morals. I read with disappointment but no surprise the latest scandal involving massive abuse of taxpayer monies via Citizen Nades. Shocking.

The scandal involved the Women’s Sports and Fitness Foundation Malaysia.

Their annual report reveals certain expenditures:
• Grants RM1.18 million
• Meals and Accommodation RM2.1 million
• Media and Advertising RM932,000
• Post and Production RM710,000
• Printing and Stationery RM710,000
• Rental of Equipment RM865,400
• Volunteers’ Allowances RM242,000
• Wages RM117,700
• Entertainment RM1.4 million
• Travelling and Transportation RM858,000

Good lord! >:(

And who’s the main culprit? You should read how the WSFFM website treats Azalina like a deity - yeah, the same woman who didn’t actually face a vote in the elections.

Interested to take a bet on how long it will take the police to launch an investigation if a report were lodge? I’d reckon less than it took for them to investigate KeADILan leaders over the Ketuanan Rakyat gathering a few nights ago.

I usually don’t care much about these sorts of things, but I confess to feeling insulted that the police insisted, in the absence of any reasonable cause I can think of that DS Wan Azizah, Azmin and Yahya Sari were forced to go down to the police station just to give a stupid statement, when they could have done so anywhere.

Any Umno leaders called for police questioning after their post election protests? Yeah, didn’t think so.

So arrogant.

Once again, if BN wants to clamp down, I think it’ll be the nail in the coffin for them. I say again, bring it on.

Your Malaysian Wakil Rakyat

Don’t think many readers here need convincing, but spread the message to your friends!

PM, et al talk about “Do not sacrifice your Chinese voice in Cabinet!”

I have a very simple question. Why vote Chinese people into Cabinet when they not only sell out the rights of the Chinese, but the rights of all Malaysians as well?

Why send Chinese into the Cabinet who are not only weak, impotent, yes-men accomplices but thieves themselves, when we can vote in true blooded Malaysians with integrity who are willing to defend the rights of ALL Malaysians!

Under 50 years of BN, every race has suffered. Malay poverty continues to spiral out of control, non-Malay rights have come to a point that when you try to question what is happening, you are answered with a keris.

Why?

Because while Umno threatens other races with a keris in one hand, with their other hand behind their back they are stealing Malay lands, Malay shares, and Malay dignity.

From every 100 they steal, they give 10 to MCA/Gerakan/MIC, who gives 1 to the rakyat, and expects you to be damn grateful because they ‘won’ something for the Chinese/Indians.

This is what 50 years of ‘Chinese Representation in the Cabinet’ has gotten us.

Enough.

And now, MCA asks for mercy. The nerve - people rob you for five years, then plea for mercy so they can rob you for the next five. I think not!

Now is the time to put Malaysians into Parliament, & State Assemblies not Malays/Chinese/Indians. It is time to defend integrity, not to rob people of their dignity.

It’s time for a New Dawn for Malaysia!
