I was encouraged by the initial feedback – both positive and negative – to my article, reproduced below, on why Pakatan may need a Malay agenda. I remember Tian once talking about BN’s adapatability post near-death situations. I think historically, they have shown themselves to be mildly able to evolve in the aftermath of crises. Certainly, this has not much been the case since March, where we have seen a startling [...] Malaysiakini reports of a visit by Husam Musa and Salahudin Ayob to the 10 individuals detained when attempting to deliver a letter to the PM. No human being should be subject to such vicious attacks. I am still smelling great mischief at work. The last thing we should do is cower in fear of placate violence, but, I have always believed [...] In the wake of Ahmad’s suspension, here’s a piece in BM I had the honour of co-authoring with YB Nik :) I have one hesitation about writing this much about Ahmad Ismail. It came to my attention that his ‘power’ goes only so far as he has access to the media and dominates the public sphere. Let [...]
Does Ahmad Ismail represent a huge swath of Malaysian society, or is he a lone ranger? Examining this question may yield important answers about the current state of Umno in Malaysia.
