Muhyiddin campur tangan – differences in BN & PR internal dynamics

Newspaper headlines today on Muhyiddin and his seven day mission.

I think we’re looking at a considerable difference between the Pakatan and BN model here .

Umno has taken it upon itself to ’sort out’ the internal problems of another party. What they think gives them the right is anyone’s guess.

I guess the ’sovereignty’ of MCA and the democratic wishes of its members as demonstrated in its last EGM can be disregarded at will by ‘Big Brother’ Umno.

But I guess that’s always been BN’s way: Umno says jump, the rest say how high.

Pakatan seems to follow a different route. I happened to be at a Pakatan press conference today, where this Agenda Daily journalist kept pestering DSAI for a comment ’selaku Ketua Pembangkang’ as to the affair involving Tok Guru Nik Aziz and his son in law in Kelantan.

DSAI gracefully deferred to Tuan Guru Hadi on the matter, and only commented on the manner in which the media hungrily goes after Pakatan ’scandals’ while ignoring the billions that BN is piratising away.

Throughout this issue, there was no question of one Pakatan party telling another how to run their business. Rather, a policy of mutual respect holds sway.

Not having some leviathan big boss can make life difficult sometimes, no doubt. It certainly isn’t easy getting consensus without some Mahatiresque dictator bringing down his heavy hand on everyone.

But that’s the essence of democracy – struggling to find common ground. It makes life hell for Pakatan sometimes, but I think they at least respect the spirit of consensus building and equality amongst partners.

  1. This is the straw that broke the camel’s back. What little dignity MCA and the Chinese community still possessed has been strip naked by this latest event. This is the beginning of the end for MCA, once the pride of the Chinese community.
MCA leaders should take responsibility and resign, paving the way for new election, but then, clean and credible MCA leaders seemed to be a rare species.

  2. Why are you always blindly glorifying PKR, as if it’s perfect?! It’s not perfect especially with that double-face Islamist PAS is in there! And in true democracy, even PKR/Opposition will be challenged for its integrity! Further, how about condemning this unacceptable, uncivilized and primitively macho and sexist behaviour and language by PKR Anwar such as “Kes Azmin Ali : Ayuh SPRM Jadilah Anak Jantan” or the violent verbal threat by Kes Azmin Ali : Ayuh SPRM Jadilah Anak Jantan” or when N. Gobalakrishnan (PKR-Padang Serai) screamed the words from across the aisle to Deputy Foreign Affairs Minister A. Kohilan Pillay to “go hang himself” ! Many Malaysians who are supporting for change and justice do not want this kind of uncivilized behaviour or thinking from PKR, nor will they submit to PAS Dark Age Arabic/AlQaeda-style ideology and dream of “Islamic Empire”!

  3. Anwar is a genuine intellectual. A natural-born scholar and thinker who happens to also be a man of action – now that’s a pretty rare combination indeed. A man of Anwar’s ability, charisma and determination only comes along once every few generations. The Umno warlords – including Mahathir who recognized Anwar’s potential early on and handpicked him as his successor – are fully aware of Anwar’s brilliance and his ability to become the greatest PM Malaysia has ever had thus far. All the more reason they are threatened by the simple fact that he never begged to be readmitted to Umno once Mahathir unceremoniously booted him out in September 1998. Instead, a new party was formed around his political crucifixion and it is now the leading opposition party by dint of number of seats PKR won during GE12. Anwar’s detractors can only hint at mistakes he made while climbing up the Umno hierarchy and insinuate that he’s an agent of the NWO Illuminati who maintain links with Anwar via the IMF.
The Umno warlords are like jaguh kampung who don’t like even bigger players muscling in on their turf. But in today’s geopolitical scenario, you either speak the global lingo or you stagnate in the backwaters (just as Malaysia since has been doing since 1998). Only Petronas and the EPF have been keeping the game going – but eventually the money will dry up in the hands of a wayward and spendthrift regime that doesn’t have the wherewithal to generate fresh wealth – but only knows how to siphon public resources into private pockets. Anwar has seen what goes on within Umno and is determined that the new political reality allows for open debate, discussion and even disagreement. Amwar, at least, doesn’t confuse UNANIMITY with UNITY!

  4. hi nat,

why dont you start telling your fellow brothers who assumes elders role on sundays preaching on how to live a righteous life but spew lies from mon to sat as editor. sick isnt it?

  5. ….its a blessing in disguise. The ship is heading the right direction…….towards the iceberg !!!!
but the question is; will the Captain sink with it ???

  6. The test of a genuine intellectual is in the ability to hold two contradictory ideas at the same time and come up with a third solution that cuts to the roots of the problem.

Mahathir was an aspiring Keynesian because he built big buildings, Badawi followed Austrian economics as he preferred to laisser faire (let things be), and Najib is a a new model fan still searching for the right model for the country.

Anwar’s economic policies are vague with regard to his position about global imbalances, exchange rates and the China/India ascendancy on the world stage. As such, he is more of a local-national leader than a world leader.

At present, the best candidate for the New World Order (which will turn out to be the most despotic regime in history) is even between Najib and Anwar.

  7. What 7 days mission?

Muhidin is the Vice President of MC Eh la. Najib is the President of MC Eh la. So they have all the time with MC Eh.

  8. WHOM TO BLAME?

    What a crying shame
    With only others to blame
When you can’t handle internal flame
That quickly burns away your old fame

  9. Walter Sisulu was a South African anti-apartheid activist and member of the African National Congress (ANC).

He was one of Nelson Mandela’s political mentors and his closest collaborator for half a century in the campaign against South Africa’s racist political order.

While Mr. Mandela was the public face of the African National Congress, by his own account he admitted that he rarely acted without first consulting Mr. Sisulu.

    ***********

Currently, Malaysia is in dire need of capable, trustworthy, selfless and responsible leaders in the caliber of Mr. Walter Sisulu.

Sadly, nearly every leader of every political party, irrespective of race and ideology, is very much striving towards gaining popularity, solely, for themselves.

Let us ponder on the current situation plaguing the political party of MCA. We just could not comprehend the reason behind all these infighting among its top leadership. For what and for whose causes are these elected leaders fighting for, to the extent of discrediting each other, publicly?

We are left wondering on how one can remain a leader if the very element of leadership is neglected by creating factions among fellow members of the same community in order to pursue their personal agenda?

Leadership requires the maturity to set aside personal differences among fellow comrades in order to achieve common ground in serving those they represent and/or those who look up to them for guidance.

Unfortunately, what we are witnessing now before us is that these so called leaders of not only for the Chinese Community but the entire citizens of Malaysia by virtue of their Ministerial positions in the Government, are allowing themselves to be blinded by their quest for personal glory to the extent of seeking and inviting UMNO to interfere into the domestic affairs of MCA.

The dignity, pride and sovereignty of MCA are not only tarnished but unceremoniously lost and trampled upon in this great calamity. In any trial or tribulation, it is not an embarrassment to have lost, but to loose with our heads down is definitely humiliating. This dark episode in the glorious history of MCA is totally uncalled for and certainly not welcomed nor desired by its faithful members and the Chinese Community as a whole.

To say the least, this is a disgrace to the very community they were entrusted to lead and care.

    For now, we leave these elected leaders with a note to reflect upon;

“ What have you brought upon is nothing but self destruction; for we do not have the wisdom to see it otherwise ”

    Thank you.
