Will this Royal Commission end up like the Royal Commissions on VK Lingam and the IPCMC?

The establishment of a Royal Commission is obviously better than the non-establishment of one.

There is an opportunity here to get to the bottom of this affair.

As we go through the Royal Commission process though, I think we need to keep some questions in mind, as reading Guan Sin reminded me.

Fahri Azat makes some important points about how the last two Royal Commissions turned out – one formed in the wake of the VK Lingam scandal, the other to initiate police reforms. Re: VK Lingam:

Has anything meaningful come out of the Royal Commission of Inquiry into the VK Lingam tape in 2007? Former premier, Datuk Seri Abdullah Badawi, confirmed before his retirement that of the four files opened in purported investigation, three have been closed for no further action. Naturally, he did not disclose what or who were the subject in those files that were closed and the one remaining open. VK Lingam is still happily appearing in court without any hindrance or difficulty. Tun Ahmad Fairuz is comfortably drawing his pension and retirement though the Commission found him to be lying. Tan Sri Vincent Tan is still a successful influential tycoon in our country. All those who stand accused at the Royal Commission are still going about their business as if the entire affair was one long, tedious and farcical documentary.

And we all know that the major recommendation of the Royal Commission to Enhance the Operation and Management of the Royal Malaysian Police, that is the formation of the IPCMC, has amounted to absolute naught.

Thus, we must continue to pressure the authorities to ensure that the truth not only be uncovered (already a difficult result to expect), but acted upon in the uncompromising pursuit of justice.

The formation of this commission should not be seen as letting anyone off the hook, or guaranteeing that the guilty will face the law. Let us vigilantly continue to scrutinise the process and pursue justice relentlessly.

Yes, as rightly being pointed out by Tengku Razaleigh, the Royal Commission would end up nowhere, just like the last two!!!

Yes, as rightly being pointed out by you, it’s better than nothing as it would, at least, shed some light, although not all.

  • It would definitely end up like that. What else do you expect? You are dealing with the same group of people.

    Like famous saying goes

‘ As long as you are doing the same thing, you’re definitely getting the same aas you are getting now’

your guess is good as mine…..Ku Li is talking like he is a saint.

He has proven to be a racist when its advantageous to him.

He is talking like he has never walked out on UMNO before. He has done it before and he can do it again.

Even Mahathir, the engineer of ” you should be loyal to the party and not the leaders ” mantra in 1998 walked out on UMNO when Pak Lah was PM.

All these fellows just talk cock
