Comparing Tan & Teo’s interrogations: Rampant abuse & intimidation; Was Teo really released at 4am? Or actually held overnight like Tan?

Firstly, don’t forget the gathering at the Kelana Jaya Stadium, 4.30pm, Sunday 18th July to commemorate Teo Beng Hock’s passing.

Picture someone took at Masjid Jamek:

One of the strange aspects of the story is why Teo would have decided to stay on in a place where he was made to endure such a terrible experience, even at 4am.

The testimony of Tan Boon Hwa, who I think is the last known person to have seen Teo alive, is revealing. Three things worthy of note: how abusive his own interrogation was, the fact that he was held overnight, and his observations of Teo at 6am:

Tan said that the two officers who questioned him tried to extract false confession from him, pressuring him to deny that he supplied 1,500 national flags for a Merdeka function at the Sri Kembangan state constituency.

During the interrogation, Tan said the officers used the ‘good cop, bad cop’ technique; initially being polite but later switching to verbally abusing him and making him to stand for four hours between 10pm to 2am.

Tan was questioned on the same day Teoh Beng Hock, the political secretary to Selangor executive councillor Ean Yong Hean Wah, was also interrogated by MACC.

According to Tan, he was threatened with physical violence, with one officer pointing to his forehead and allegedly saying, “You don’t lie. This is my place. I can hit you. Believe me!

During interrogations, he said other officers would randomly walk into the room to mock his poor command of Bahasa Malaysia and used derogatory terms such as “Cina bodoh” (stupid Chinese) and asked him if he was a Chinese citizen.

The worst intimidation, Tan said, were threats to his family which he described as “mental torture“.

“They said that if I don’t ‘tell the truth’, they will take away my wife and there would be no one to care for the children. But I did not give in,” said Tan, during a press conference at the Selangor state secretariat today.

He was allowed to sleep on the carpeted floor and the interrogation continued the following morning.

To top it off, when he was released the following day at about 1.30pm, Tan said he was asked by MACC staff not to make an issue over their interrogation technique.

When asked, Tan said he did not know that Teoh was in the same building when he was brought there. The duo met only when Tan woke up at about 6am the following day while on the way to the toilet.

“He was in the pantry. I greeted him, but he replied only with a ‘Umh’. But when I came out of the toilet, he was gone. He did look a little tired,” said Tan.

The MACC says that Teoh was released at 3.45am yesterday but he chose to “stay back and sleep on a couch, where he was last seen at 6am.”

Very strange. I guess we can conclude that he was alive at 6am.

The MACC say he was released at 4am, but Tan on the other hand, was allowed to sleep but still detained by the MACC, as interrogations continued the next morning.

Would it be reasonable to conclude that Teo was also in fact still under MACC detention? That he was not released, but ‘allowed to sleep,’ just like Tan?

I suppose it would make more sense than Teo being allowed to leave at 4am, but inexplicably deciding to stay on.

The public should also be given full access to the notes from Teo’s interrogation – given the circumstances of his death. The longer this is delayed, the more likely they will be tampered with.

His handphone, in police custody, which might reveal important information, can also be easily tampered with.

The torn pants did not concern me much at first, but they now seem curiouser and curiouser.

The autopsy report will be the next big development. But once again, credibility becomes such a crucial issue.

*

Whatever the odds, we must continue to apply pressure for the truth to be made known. Failure to do so after Altantuya and dozens upon dozens of deaths in custody unaccounted for will condemn our children to a government of murderers.

This week, a woman was widowed, a child deprived of his father forever. How many more?

The police investigation report will be the same. No need to wait…………I can give to you their answer or maybe everybody already knows the answer.

The PM will play the good guy. His condolence is not welcome. The people are angry and sad but UMNO/BN will continue to harass the righteous.

  • Mr Bird

When can we really get a ‘true’ explanation on all the deaths in police custody?. Who and when will someone take up all these cases?.

Truly sad to see a young man of 30yrs old being tortured to death. How ridiculous! He must be still under MACC custody at 6am and suffering silently. The last resort MACC uses were hang him near the window. At first try to scare him by pushing him out. That’s why his pants were torn! But luck was not with Beng Hock…May Beng Hock rest in peace…away from the hopeless Najib’s 1Malaysia. Really fed up with people especially politicians still making remarks such as Cina Bodoh, Cina Babi, Cina Balik Tongsan, Pendatangs etc. Why federal govt so uncivilized and backwards as they are allowing their subordinates to carry on with these PARIAH acts! No wonder they loses many states! Many states will join in next GE.

    the torn pants?

its consistent with RPK’s postulation that the interrogration went awry. Teoh was murdered if RPK is right.

  • Ho Chu Chuan

“One of the strange aspects of the story is why Teo would have decided to stay on in a place where he was made to endure such a terrible experience…”

Don’s forget, the uppermost thought in Teo’s mind must be to go home immediately and get as much rest as possible to be in time for his marriaqe registration. Why would he want to stay on? to rest?

  • Koh

Photo has shown the horizontal torn of his long pant at the back had give u some clue !!! It look like had been big struggle before his death ??? and the deep cut of his right palm ??? God knows what had happened ????

  • Malaysian

Teoh’s phone is surely with MACC since he was only asked to rest in the promises till interrogation resume the next morning. He was NOT realised and allowed to go home.
If the phone was with his he would have called his wife to be or parents. A check with Maxis/Digi will reveal the details of his sms and phone calls. But will MACC intercept the records?

The notes will prove how many questions he was asked during the 10 hours and what he answered. If they had asked only 5 questions then he was tortured the rest of the time.

If the investigations were completed Teoh would have been asked to sign his statement with the time and date stated.

I am sure Teoh went through hell at MACC.

  • mazlan

The theory that someone push him and then try to grab him by his rear pocket which can be seen is torn off from top to bottom, points out that his head was way past the window..! !

  • Malaysian

    Nat,
I tell why his pants were torn. He was held on the window sill and they held him by his pants and threatened to push him down if refused to play their game.
Half us body was outside the window.
The pants gave way and tore and Teoh fell to his death.
The murderers stood dumbfounded and started the mess cover up.

Yes, I am thinking aloud like Sherlock Holmes.

  • Sad Sitizen

We will never get it. Never.

  • Littlebird

Can someone point me where the MACC got the powers to question people non stop. S49 of MACC says once arrest takes place they are subject to CPC. Somebody out there help. Especially, the good for nothing bar council.

  • kinglee

if one was force to be at a place without his liking and subsequently permited to leave …..even a child will choose to leave no matter what. Do you believe that Teo chooses to stay??? come on we are all adult and we too go to school like all those in MACC.

  • We will never get the truth on this. It will be the same old conclusion ie. a sucide case. Case closed! Look at the facts around you and everything points to foul play. Even those who are not trained in criminal investigation can smell that something is amiss here. Dare we all hope for justice to prevail here? I am sure you and I hope so.

  • ananth

based from the picture, there is a deep cut on teoh’s right hand, but there is no bleeding. that suggesting teoh was dead before the fall.

  • musalmah

Semoga Allah menunjukan kebenaran tentang apa yang telah belaku.

  • jb

Whatever is the outcome, it is plain abuse of power by the MACC. You can be assured that the PM & ministers downwards will try to wring out some excuses.
Why are the so called creame of Malaysian society
silent on such evil actions. Don’t they have a concience or are they easily bought over by money and power. Or are they frightened by the BN machinery.
    What lousy citizens.

  • UMNO/BN, MACC, IGP all go to hell. We Malaysians will make sure they all go down. Just can’t wait to see this happen! This is the time for Malaysians of all races to unite to defeat the evils of Umno/BN.

  • Ls

Can anyone find out the names and photos of his interrogators? We can then name and shame them on all blogs.

  • Hell .. I am so pissed off .. I want JUSTICE for Teoh Beng Hock !!!!

  • tmf

Look at the picture again and notice that the left shoe landed at least 8 feet away from the body. Why?

  • tmf

Pants torn because the back pockets got caught by the ledge of the lower fixed glass panel while the upper body being pushed backward out of the open top-hung window.

Further, left shoe might also had caught the ledge and sliped off while falling over backward and someone subsequently threw it down but did a bad job causing the left shoe to land more then 8 feet away from the body.

Looked at the picture again and consider the above possibility. ( most pictures did not show the left shoe which landed more than 8 feet away from the victim’s head at 8-9 o’clock)

  • aca

    robert,

may ahmad’s grandchildren and great grandchildren continue their tradition which is to indulge in watching child porno.
may this curse last 7 generations.
    damn BASTARD.

  • ribbit

It is possible that they dangled him outside the window holding on to his pants, which tore, and he fell.
May de curse of the devil be upon those who masterminded this atrocity and also upon those who have tried to cover it up, if indeed this is what has happened.

  • arsay

There will be another scapegoat to cover the real person behind this once the evidence cannot be covered……..the top evil doer will continue to stay in power. Definitely the current system in Malaysia sucks…….Waiting for the next GE will allow Malaysians to forget. Malaysians please REMEMBER to stay united to stand for JUSTICE!! My hope is that the TRUTH will be revealed for Teoh Beng Hock’s death so that his soul would be at peace.

  • WHMoey

I Very doubtful this is a Suicide Case. It’s not as simple as that……the pant torned, his other shoe was 8-9 feets away from his body & the cut on his hand. This might have happened on the 14th floor before his death. I suggest PR invites foreign expertise in solving similar crimes.
