Update: Latest from Anil – Surgery a success!! Still in post-op recovery.

Fr. OC Lim is a luminary – his dedication to social justice has been an inspiration to many, and his refusal to divorce religious life from human rights an example to all.
Via SMS’es and Anil: he has been rushed to hospital and is believed to be undergoing heart surgery now (possibly internal bleeding) :(
Prayers and hopes for a speedy recovery to good health.

We praise and thank God our Father for the gift of Fr OC to all of us. Let us allow Fr OC the time and space to recover fully. Let’s especially give him a peaceful time of convalescence in his father’s house. Let’s restraining our urge to call or visit him by offering him up in our prayers.
Well-wishers may go to this site to get a look at the snap shots of Fr OC’s discharged from IJN.

Thank you very much O.T. for the photos. We’re very consoled to be able to see him via the photos.
Fr OC, GET WELL SOON!
JACKY, DAVID, PAUL & CECILIA (CRC)
Honour, Praises, Glory and Thanksgiving be given unto Our Lord Jesus Christ.
I must inform the prayer warriors of the good news that Fr. OC has been discharged and is staying at his father’s home to recuperate.
Fr OC, PLEASE take your time to rest. You REALLY need it. 3 hours of sleep is totally not acceptable for anyone, let alone anyone who had undergone an open heart surgery. We will not stop praying for you till you are 150% okay.
OK Lim, thank you for the updates. As your brother is a firm believer and full-time disciple of our Lord Jesus Christ, that’s the reason why Fr OC is strong, courageous and a fighter. The prayer warriors are constantly praying for all of you.
O Lord Jesus Christ, please pour out Your most precious blood upon Fr. OC Lim. We surrender every single stitch, wound, internal organ, limb, vein, muscle, tissue, blood vessel, cell, aorta, etc unto You, O Lord Jesus Christ. Please heal him according to Your holy word and time.
Heal Fr OC Lim, and he shall be healed
You are the one we praise
Heal him O Lord, and he shall be healed
You are the one we praise
You are the one we praise.
Mother Mary, please intercede for us.
St. Anne, St. Joachim, St. Thomas More, St. Francis … please intercede for us.
Amen.

Fr. O.C. have been resting at home since his discharge from I.J.N. 3 days ago. He is still very weak and tired easily but manage to walk with aid of a walker. he still have to go back to I.J.N. for check up every 2 days. He certainly have lost a lot of weight so much so that I can see him having to pull up his trousers waist band when he walk. Fr. O.C. still request that he be allow to rest quietly for the next two weeks. He still speak with a soft hoarse voice. His appetite is minimal due to medication and anti-biotic he is taking. Holding a piece of paper to read is still a heavy chore for him. He also confess that even praying is something that he cannot do well due to lack of mental control, fatigue or concentration. Other then that, he is sleeping better these three days compare to those cat nap at the hospital. Fact that Fr. O.C. is still with us is indeed a miracle and we offer true and highest gratitude to our Lord God.
O.K. Lim
Dear Rev. Fr. O.C.,
It’s so good to see your smiling face through the hospital discharge photos.
You have always been the sort of person that smiles through anything. That song ‘Smile’ , the words are just so like you and for you. We love you Fr. and we are so glad that you are now back at your father’s house resting. We thank and praise the Almighty God for his kindness towards you. You must be so glad to be back home – Home Sweet Home.
Get all the Sleep and Rest that you need and just take things easy. Just ‘Don’t Worry, Be Happy’. Remember things always happen for a reason. In your case, it was, over working and the the Lord felt that it was time for you to slow down and take it easy.
To all your family members, thank you so much for all the updates. We will continue to pray for Fr. O.C, all of you and nurse Guna. God Bless each one of you.
P.S. Would it be too much to ask that a photo be taken of you with side parting. Want to see lah.

Gary and myself are overwhelmed by your ‘discharge pictures’ …
Overwhelmed at God’s amazing grace, love and mercy to you and to us – your family who love you; overwhelmed at the ‘sight’ of you after many tormented imaginings of how you were at each stage.
Take it easy now, dearest brother, one step at a time; have an unhurried recovery. You had a ‘THREE-in-ONE’ … 3 major cardiac procedures at 1 time, where others usually have 1 at a time! You are truly God’s living miracle. Alleluia!
I also marvel at the outstanding skill of the anesthesiologist who kept you stabilized through 6 hours of a very perilous heart operation! (And in ICU post-op.) The wonders of our Almighty Father . ….
Till we can come home, you’re in our thoughts every day, and remain in our prayers for our Lord’s divine healing power, as you convalesce and get your strength back.
Warmest love from
Your cheong-hey sister & Gary
P.S.
We too want to see the side-parting hair-do …..
Go Guna Go! When Fr O,C. is sleeping…. Can ah ???
Glad to know that Fr. OC is recovering well.
Thank you so much Mr. OK Lim for updating us with the news of Fr. OC all these while.
Father, we will continue to pray for your smooth recovery.
Dear Fr. O.C Lim, please get well soon and will continue to pray for your speedy recovery. I really missed your presence since the last time I saw you in the daily morning mass before your emergency surgery at IJN.
Please continue to take good care of yourself and may God be with you always till you are ready to preach your good news to us soon.
Fr. O.C. recovery is slow. He is still weak and tired easily. He does walk around the house twice a day with aid of the walker. He is still a bit worried about his condition. Last night he had a heart palpitation of 140 beat per minute for about 1/2 an hour. Nurse Guna and the relief nurses and family members are keeping a close eye on Fr. O.C. He eats very light meals as his taste bud is just not there. Told him is stomach is willing but mouth is not. Must be all the medication and anti biotic he is taking that totally dull his taste sensors.
O.K. Lim
How can I have forgotten! ….. The best ‘medicine’ to help you feel better:
WE ARE ALSO PRAYING FOR SOCIAL JUSTICE, JUSTICE FOR DETAINEES, JUSTICE IN EVERY FORM.
Now, you get strong soon. God bless.
Love from
Your NON-cheong-hey sister …. (today!)

All of love from the Lai Family & my grandfolks Anthony and Aunty Teresa Lai.
With God’s Blessings.
Our sister Bee Hong brought Fr.O.C. to IJN today (Aug. 3rd) for his first check up and consultation with the chief surgeon Dato’ Dr. Azhari Yakub who operated Fr.O.C. and he informed Fr.O.C. that he is recovering well from his surgery. Details Dato’ Dr. Azahari gave was that Fr. O.C. heart is functioning 70% and was told that anything above 50% is normal and satisfactory. The heart valves are working well. The palpitation Fr. O.C. was having is also normal and have no need for worry. Fluid around Fr.O.C. heart wall and chest and lungs are clear. Bee Hong ask Dr. Azhari that how long does it take for the dissection that Fr.O.C.had to happened. He said medically, it could take only one (1) minute and Dr. Azhari went on to say that Fr. O.C. did have a very major operation. As my sister Bee Hong said “God was with O.C. all the time”.
Fr.O.C. is still weak and wobbly standing and walking and voice is still hoarse and coarse that being the result of his surgery and medication. His sleep pattern is still very inconsistent some nights good and night before was terrible when coughing kept him up most of the night. He still need plenty of rest and time to build himself up. By God’s grace and blessing we are sure it won’t be too long before Fr. O.C. continue God’s work albeit at a slower and tone down pace.
O.K.Lim
Thank you so much OK Lim for the update. Good to hear that Fr. OC’s heart is functioning well and yes, indeed the Lord was (and is) with Fr. OC and so merciful.
Do be careful with visitors especially now with the H1N1 virus.
Fr. OC, you are in our thoughts and prayers everyday! The Lord is with you every step of the way. Rest and sleep well.
A small foot note on “1 minute dissection” which is all time it takes for an aorta of the heart to rupture. Another interesting point Dato’ Dr. Aahari inform Fr. O.C. yesterday that besides his heart, his brain was also “switch off” during the operation to minimise bleeding.
O.K. LIm
On this Feast day of St. John Mary Vianney, the patron saint of priests, let us all pray in thankfulness and humility for my brother, Fr. O.C. – and all the holy men of God in SFX, Malaysia, and throughout the world.
Praise be to God!
ALLELUIA! PRAISE TO GOD ALMIGHTY!
It’s so wonderful to see our smiley and witty Fr OC up and about! Catch his surprise visit to SFX on the Feast of St John Marie Vianney on Aug 4th at http://sfxpjphotos.blogspot.com/

Thank you to the photogapher! I feasted on the 60+ pictures of my brother, from my home in Toronto.
They made my heart soar …. and they made my heart break (esp. when he showed his leg scar and bandages). We too miss you in a big way, dearest brother, together with so many who can’t see you yet.
But very consoled to see you with Fr. Simon in SFX . What a joyful visit! All praise, glory and honour to Allah.
Grateful for the miracle God has done!!
Alleluia!!
I was just checking SFX’s website, when I read about Fr. OC Lim’s visit to SFX. It definitely brought tears to my eyes because Our Lord Jesus Christ truly healed him and is still healing him.
It is totally the power of prayer, with many people all rallying together to pray for our Fr OC Lim.
Fr OC, please be cautious not to go visiting at crowded areas. With the H1N1 virus, perhaps it may be wise to wear the surgical mask. Nurse Guna, do continue to take good care of Fr. OC.
The prayer warriors are still praying for you. Take your time. No need to rush.
May Our Lord Jesus Christ pour out His Most precious blood upon each of you, May Jesus bless each of you and guide you at all times. May Mother Mary continue to intercede for each of you. Amen.

My apologies for not updating on Fr. O.C.’s latest condition for awhile.
Overall he is on a steady road to recovery. He is eating and sleeping well. However he is still experiencing pain on his leg where artery was grafted for his heart operation. The healing is slow and wound is still pretty fresh on his leg. Fr. O.C. still need a “tongkat” to assist in his walking. He still have to go back to hospital for bandage change and at I.J.N. he does physiotherapy three times a week. Nurse Guna told me that the physiotherapy involve disco dancing! Do you think that he will display a few disco steps at the pulpit in due time?
The highlight of this blog. S.F.X. Church Parish Priest Rev. Father Simon Yong announces that come this Wednesday August 26th., there will be a special Thanks Giving Mass at 7 p.m. (instead of the usual 6.15p.m.) to our Lord God for Fr. O.C.’s successful operation and the hitchfree recovery. Aside from that, August 26 is also Fr. O.C.’s birthday hence after the mass, a buffet dinner will be held at the church basement car park area. Needless to say all are welcome to the House of our Lord for the mass as well as buffet dinner that follow.
O.K. Lim
Wow! Disco dancing.. can have one request? Ask him to learn the dance moves of Saturday Night Fever ;)).. maybe too strenous for him though other than the famous mega pose of John Travolta!
Good to hear he is eating & sleeping well. We miss him and continue to pray for him daily. Take care Fr. OC.
With you in spirit,
Aaron & family
Dear Fr O C
So good to see you well and walking about to your seat in St John’s Church last Friday. May you continue to keep well and be assured of our prayers.
Much love
Some of us from FONDACIO and Maria Yan who never fail to be fascinated and called by your love for justice!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY, dearest brother!
(Notice I did not give away ‘what number’ birthday …)
What a significant and blessed milestone in your life! Eternal praises and gratitude to our Lord on this joyful day. So sad we cannot be there for Thanksgiving Mass – and cake & disco dancing – but it was beautiful for us to hear your voice this morning. Side-parting tonight??
God’s continued mercy and love be with you, and showers of Birthday Blessings for today!
We love and miss you.
DEAR REV. FR. O.C. LIM,

Dear Fr OC
Believe you me, I was there in SFX at 7pm sharp – drove by the parking area & saw you standing under the porch in your immaculate jesuit attire & looking GOOD! Praise God…..but unfortunately because of the rain & no parking, I had to drive on (unable to stop or park at Catholic High because of the rain & my gout::I too underwent an open heart surgery 5 bypasses, 2+ years ago, which prevented me from hobbling along the wet mushy trail from Catholic High to SFX) – so I had to continue to trail the horrendous traffic jam to drive on home arriving another 45mins later!
Anyway, whilst I spoke to John Chin & Anthony Wong (that must have been around 10pm) I was thoroughly blessed to hear your strong powerful voice as it so happened that you were with them. Praise God that you sound so bubbly and strong…you’re indeed progressing fast to being normal.
Guess I’ll have to catch up with you another time Dear Ooi Chai and may the Lord bless you with continued good health as we the whole Catholic World need your spirit and energy to journey along with us…..God Bless, belated happy birthday too …Love, PAUL & DOMINIQUE YAP: & Tien, Seong/Tasha & Ming.
PS Where do you celebrate your daily morning or evening Mass – still at SFX? We’ll love to be in attendance.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY Father OC I really would have liked to have been at your birthday party but unfortunately could not get to KL in time from the UK. Will look forward to sering you in February next year when I plan to spend some time in KL.
With Regards and Respect
Jim Bruce
Dear Fr OC,
So happy to note that you are bounding back to good health. Take care.
Dear Fr OC,
just heard about your scary health story and we are so happy to hear that all the prayers have helped you to get through the worst!
Maybe you do not remember us. We used to be expats in PJ working for Zuellig Pharma. We were active in implementing the discipleship programme at SFX in the years 1993-96 and we still remember your inspiring sermons and your enthusiasm for justice and the kingdom of God. After a few years in Singapore and China we moved to Australia to retire. Obviously we have not ‘retired’ from the Church and remain very active in the Sacred Heart Parish of Pittwater (Mona Vale, North of Sydney).
We thank the Lord for your recovery and trust you will have many more years in the vineyard of the Lord.
Erich and Elaine Ott
Dear Fr Lim,
I met you more than 30 years ago. I was called Michelin ie tyre.
Do you still remember? I am now living in Sydney.
Take care
Kind love
