Exciting huh? :) I managed to catch the premier of Gadoh last night, and it was a pretty excellent movie :)
It’s basically an exploration of grassroots racism in Malaysia amongst youth.
The treatment was quite true to home, and explored most of the racial stereotypes that pervade Malay-Chinese conflict, and had a good friend of my sister’s steal the show via his allegorical portrayal of how Indians get caught in between.
The movie has the potential to start a lot of important conversations in places where they may matter most: in our schools, our neighbourhoods, and our communities.
I think the filmmakers are looking at ways to screen the movie in more places and venues, as well as distribute the DVD’s widely. If you’d like to get in touch with them about such screenings, maybe you can e-mail gadohthemovie[at]gmail.com :)

i used to be a “gadoh” fler myself; picking-up “budakcina” from the nearby cinatown (sri jaya, maran, pahang circa 1986); the fight started with a drop of a hat; calling each others names and etc. i remember a promise i made to myself then that one day i will murder all this budakcina (15 of them cinaboys caught me off-guard and remove my pant.. in a canteen damn it).. i don’t care what limkui says, the number is 15
fast forward 20+ years.. we were all buddies, business partners, land-owners live next to each other and here the surprise..
PAS win “kotak undi” in sri jaya on 8 March; they see what umno did to their malay buddies; only their malay buddies did not see it themselves

well whether we realized it or not., we tends to hated each other for some unknownin stupid reason..this movie has knocked some senses to me n made me realized that if we understand more n more about each other this kind of things would never happens.this film gadoh is the cure for our sickening society disease .
