He told Bernama today that he would be meeting the management of private TV and radio stations soon to bring about changes as they had failed to deliver the government’s aspirations resulting in the BN’s poor performance at the general election last year.
*face palms*
That’s why you think BN did badly last year?
Nothing to do with, oh I don’t know, racism, chronic corruption, a murder scandal, and all round ineptitude? Can’t be, right? :P
While eminently stupid in and of itself, this statement bears another glaring display of arrogance, abuse of power and twistedness.
Why can’t these idiots seem to understand – the government DOES NOT EQUAL BN.
The way Rais is talking, you would think that it is the *duty* of publicly owned radio/TV stations to make the government look good *in order to* keep BN in power.
This is bullshit.
It is fair to expect public radio/TV stations to assist the government in its duties, to explain policies and facilitate good governance, but it is *not* the role of the media to make any political party smell like roses.
In fact, the duty of the media is almost the exact opposite. It is to exercise its role as check and balance, to mercilessly decry corruption, abuse of power and management, and by holding politicians to scathing standards.
So, Najib talks about free media, Rais says media should kiss BN’s ass. Which one is which now?
Speaking of hypocrisy, same article:
Meanwhile in a related matter, the decision by RTM to change the time of its news programming has come under fire from several quarters, especially from the viewers of the Mandarin and Tamil news broadcast.
Under the revamped schedule effective tomorrow, Mandarin news will be aired at 6.30pm instead of the popular slot of 8pm. As for the Tamil news broadcast, the 30-minute bulletin will now be at 6pm instead of 7.30pm. National prime news in Bahasa Malaysia will be aired on TV1 at 8pm.
Hmmm, doesn’t sound very 1Malaysia does it?

See! No change! Same old UMNO. Same old way.
Where did “boot-licker” “Goebbels” Rais come from? He’s in the wrong era; wrong place.
TIme to inject new blood! New people. New thinking. New ideas.
BN/UMno can flykite. These scumbags are the main culprits who burn down our nations wealth from dulu , kini and forever.
Any way it is the hard time now for most of the goons. Regardless we are in the same boat. But they starts to fill the pain. So all you BN/UMno will fly the kite. The far one might survive and near one will bye bye
Wishing you goons good luck with all the resources you been misused in the name of government. Yet still sore looser.
Nate;
I think we can already see Najib’s administration’s trade mark. Say something, do the opposite. We already have a heavy stack of evidence: “let’s review the ISA” but no public hearing and no repeal while we discreetly put in 3 more, “free media” without accompanying with any action but further restraining private and federal media, etc. Add to this the fear of elections in Perak and Penanti (cost saving bullshit, he announced it at a costly useless self-congratulatory function in Pahang), this administration is already set to be even worse than Bodowi’s.
Meanwhile BN leaders like Rais and supporters still blame others for their failures. Looks like BN is set to become the federal Opposition come next GE.
This bn clowns still don’t get it. It was and still is the tv stations’ arrogant, lope-sided reporting every day that are back firing on bn themselves.
On resheduling the news broadcast times, who cares. Furthermore, bringing forward the times to 6 and 6:30pm is laughable. How many working ppl are home at that times to watch if they ever do watch. Are they trying to force us to watch all this gomen propaganda and expect us to believe whatever they shove at us or what?
Rais has chosen to be an idiot to remain in the cabinet.
Rais’s a sick fella..!!
BN is the champion when it comes to hitting below the belt. The biggest “kia soo” governement in history.
Hitting below the belt by that I mean ….. read on,
a) The present minister of defence had initiated that they will start to deploy between 200-300 uniform personnel in all 300 voting constituencies in Malaysia.
b) Now please bare in mind if they do that they will then have an advantage of about 500,000-600,000 votes in the bag come the next general election.
c) This will be a tremendous set back for PKR. So guys come the next GE BN even before voting starts BN will have secured approximately half a million votes.
Now dont you think that is fair and democratic of the BN governemnt.
SECTOR AS CAPTOR?
If the private sector is expected to act like the public sector
Then what’s the difference in the two sectors’ distinctive factors
Or does one sector need to cow to the other as the ‘victor’
When it’s obvious who’s playing the role of the offensive captor

Rais Yatim, Khir Toyo and the rest of UMNO/BN will never ever look in the mirror to really to see where they have gone wrong…. .why the raykat voted for the opposition. Now that they have got another election reject from Batu Kawan to be the minister in charge of KPI, this reject might as well introduce SWOT analysis to educate some intellectually challenged ministers to analyse where they have gone wrong all these years, and not point fingers at the media, “ungrateful people”, “pendatangs” and “frogs” whso jump party. Why can’t they have the guts to admit their mistakes and rectify them? We all make mistakes but to blame others for their mistakes is just cowardly and arrogant. Or maybe they are taking a queue from a certain “recalcitrant” from Langkawi when he expounded his management philosophy of ” Management through example” just like Najib’s 1Malaysia. This old man is like a chameleon that will change color anytime and when the situation suits him. If they are so fond of him, we need to remind UMNO/BN that they are actually idolising a pendatang true blue mamak from India who is ashamed of admitting his roots. Someone who now speaks of money politics and corruption as if they did not exist at all during his infamous rule as PM. There is an old Chinese proverb that goes like this: “A good horse will never come back to old pastures” but this “old horse” keeps coming back like a bad dream. Take a good rest lah !! and let the other jokers rule UMNO/BN and Malaysia until 2013. See you then…. till then, have fun.
the only few survivors from previous cabinet…..must be thankful saangat kot….so kena lah bodek. now tak kira. anybody can masuk campur lain dept punye hal. Coz big JUDGE has pave the way teaching people to over rulled anyone……….
This sissy is trying to be mean, but it always comes out funny when sisy does it… remember he said it’s a win-win when we lost that little peice of rock under his care??? hahaha…!!!
Now sissy wants to clamp down on bloggers and private TV station!! Halooo!! TV is here to provide me with information and entertainment la… Accurate, factual information, without fear or favour! All sorts of entertainment, ikut suka aku. Why does he think we all stopped watching RTM, TV3, etc even Bernama news?? Cannot swallow so man lies la…
I can predict that pirated discs sales will increase after sissy talks to the tv stations to change their programming. Sure wan… We have enough of UMNO ruining the country, so please don come ‘into’ my living room.
when will they ever know what is going on with the country.
I guess they never will
just wait for the BN ship to sink
Maybe it’s time like-minded Malays, Chinese and Indians left the country and seek their fortunes elsewhere. So much time and resources are invested opposing a dinosaur too set in its ways. Would you want to be here when the meteor that wipes them out finally hits?
p.s. When’s the next game?
Well said. It’s a mockery having old ‘tripod stands’ like Rais in the cabinet. He or anybody in the UMNOistic BN is capable of doing anything to fulfil their needs for his family’s bright future.
great job, rais.
hope you learn much from Kim of North Korea.
yup, everybody knows everybody lies except BN.
bring the country back to the 1960s and you can continue your propaganda.
may be you can another thesis for a super Phd on FREE MEDIA. But, for goodness sake this time believe in what you write and dont bring the University that grant you the Phd into disrepute.
No lah Nat. Not to bodek BN. Just to piss you off. :)
