Updated: see Malik Imtiaz’s insightful comment re: motive and prosecution oddities. Thanks bro!
I agree with the majority who still raise the two most burning questions:
1. What was their motive?
2. Could they possibly have acted without instructions?
That two relatively low ranking policemen could decide not only to murder but to blow up a woman of their own accord, with absolutely nothing to gain (no money, no vengeance, no nothing; isn’t establishing a motive vital to proving a murder? I stand corrected by Jinn), still remains beyond the realm of belief to me.
The highly suspicious circumstances surrounding the process of this trial continue to stick out like a sore thumb. Having never seen their faces, and not knowing how the appeal process will go, we will also cannot know for sure if these two men will actually hang.
If they are going to, it really would be a good time for them to sing – to tell the truth in some hope of finding ablution before the real judgment day, and let the world know what really happened that night.
In all honesty, I’m not sure what kind of penalty befits these two men, who in all likelihood pulled the trigger (and administered that hard-to-procure C4). But I do feel that somebody, somewhere, is escaping unpunished.
Sadly, I do believe that without evidence, we cannot prosecute whoever these people may be. But God help whoever might be hiding or withholding any such evidence, should it exist.
A few decent things have happened in the first week of Najib’s premiership. This is not one of them.
Justice did not prevail today. Let us never cease to pursue it.
Altantuya and family – we’re sorry Malaysia has failed you thus far :(

We also seem to be failing Kugan. While we were again distracted by the by-elections, some ridiculous findings by the Ministry of Health were made, and the police have raided the office of the doctor who did the second post-mortem.
The Empire strikes back.
More on this to come soon, I hope.
Updated: See a great, diplomatic article by David Quek on this matter, current president of the Malaysian Medical Association.

They thought justice is served by just hanging the two hired hit men. At least they could buy more time. The appeal process will take a long long time. By then, it is probably forgotten by most, or at least the impact is much reduced. And by then, the “king” (you-know-who) is expected to be secure on his throne. And it won’t be a surprise eventually a royal pardon is made to the two.
WHAT IS THE MOTIVE OF THESE TWO FOUND GUILTY???
The script for the mongolian lady case was writtensince2006. Haha, death sentence means someone will die on their behalf………..they will then go to somewhere and live under different identidy happily ever after…………..Hopefully, they are paid well enough somewhere else, perhaps meet up with Balasubramaniam….This is the reason for hiding their identidy and very few ppl recognise them!! They may appear as siamese twins if seen again!!
Death sentence mean someonw will be hung on their behalf. The script was written since 2006. They will live under different identidy or appear as twins of the death………….
Dear Nat,
you might want to dredge up the opening statement of the lead prosecutor on the first day of trial. He pinned the murder on Razak Baginda and Azilah who he described as the “masterminds”. This stance made the decision not to appeal the Baginda acquittal a curious one as without Baginda’s involvement, there was really no longer a motive (as you have pointed out) other than the alleged promise of a big reward to Sirul. Why Azilah would want to do it on his own accord is the big mystery in this, “The Curious Case Of The Combusting Woman”.
As things stand, it will take some time (perhaps years) before the final appeal to the Federal Court is determined, assuming that the Court of Appeal does not reverse the finding of the High Court. Much can happen in that period.
Malik Imtiaz
They will be acquitted on appeal but that will three years from now when people have forgotten all about this case.
Then why change the judge, object to Najib’s name being mentioned and no appeal on Razak’s acquittal.
The whole thing is staged. Believe me, these two men will not be hanged.
As the judge see it, they do not need any motive to kill. The judge just want to sentence the “murderers” only… whoever instruct them is not a judge concern… :-) the case is close and the real culprit can smile all the way home …. :-)

Under the law it is not essential to prove ‘motive’ to establish a case murder. The two essential elements are actus reus (the act) and mens rea (intention).
At law school the lecturers and tutors spent considerable time trying to explain how motive is not synonymous to and does not equate intention. The long and short of it is, motive could be seen as a driving force – ten people could have different motives to kill Mr. A, but whether or not they intend to act it out is a different plane altogether. On the contrary, sometimes intention to kill could materialize or be formed within a split second before the act of killing even in the absence of premeditation.
That said, prosecutors usually try to establish motive to show premeditation – especially when the crime yields purely circumstantial evidence.

This is the first time in my all life, i 100 % agreed with Jebat comment”s. I do also seen HONG KONG Filem some years ago .If i not misstaken the actors is JACKIE CHAN, SAMU HUNG, AND ANDY LAU. Three of them surpose to be hung but end storied , they free with new indentity and life.
Who have a photo of sirul & azilah, please forward
What’s surprising anymore in a country where a suspect can be proven as beaten to death then “re-proven” to have died of natural causes? Altantuya is now similarly proven to have been a victim of a murder conspiracy and now “re-proven” as a victim of random murder.
“Malaysian senang lupa” what happened to the Lingam case???
After the big hoo haa,no one is charged because the rakyat has stop pressuring the government.
The ruling governent knows the mentality of the rakyat “malaysian senang lupa”. That’s why they keep delaying the case ……
Another three years for the appeal for Sirul and Azilah and by then the people would have forgotten this case and “the name that cannot be mention.”
Why are they so calm? Another done deal??
“See I can do it for so and so and I surely can do it for the two of you and at the mean time here are the $$$$$$ for your family!!!!?
I felt very sad when I read in one toilet paper that someone in nice suit announced there is nothing wrong in Kugan’s first post-mortem. My first reaction was “Like this also can”. Kugan may be a suspected car thief but he did not deserve to die. The man in nice suit was smiling when he announced the verdict. Wonder how he sleep at night.
Now the doctor who did the second post mortem had his samples confiscated by POLIS Raja Di Malaysia. My first reaction this time was ” What else is new”.

Thur. 9th Apr. 2009.
it’s just a play. later they will appeal to the federal court/appeal court… and in the end they will be released as the reasons you stated above. no motive.
Mr Jinn,
So, I can kill you just because I don’t like your face ???? That is Intention ?
nat: i made the same mistake :P it’s the lovely MS Jinn, not mr :) i think that wasn’t her point…. more like. even if you killed someone just ‘cos tak suka muka, you are still culpable for murder. Karpal conceded something similar in MK article.
The two will escape gallows and enjoy life in carribean island with billon in bank acc. Just see the Cabinet line up today. Whose holding HOME portfolio.Me and my friends prediction before the announcement of the new cabinet turn out to be true.As we know the police , immigration, customs all under home.
