Chief secretary to the government Mohd Sidek Hassan said that the king has consented to the swearing-in of Najib, which will be held in Istana Negara at 10am.
:(
But wait! Rocky:
Then, a few minutes ago, the national news agency sent this bulletin to all its subscribers:
[NEWS] NOTE TO EDITORS: APRIL 1
Please ignore item slugged “Agong-Najib” as the office of the Chief Secretary of the Government has said that it had issued the statement prematurely.– BERNAMA
A ray of hope shines through the skies!
Could it be that Najib and his unholy gang have been trying to pre-empt the DYMM Agong, and make arrangements presumptively in an attempt to corner the Agong?
As I was driving home tonight, thinking about the bleakness that lies ahead – the misfortune dawn might bring.. I started to wonder whether I could have done more to try and keep it from happening.
It’s quite an effective strategy on BN’s part to try and engineer this transition while many of us are so focused on the by-elections.
In truth, what happens over the next two days is of supreme importance. Almost everything hangs in the balance.
The angle I felt that maybe we should have played up more is the wave of repressions that might follow Najib’s ascension.
Already his police are firing tear gas and water cannons at us; already they are trying to control what we can and can’t say; already Najib has usurped democracy; already the integrity of the judiciary is reaching new lows; already they have clamped down on press freedom.
Waiting for what’s next is like waiting for the executioner’s axe to fall.
If there is any sign at all tomorrow, any glimmer of hope, I will try to write something longer. It is long overdue, and my fault for not really understanding the gravity before, forgive me.
May tomorrow bring better tidings; whatever comes, I hope we’ll all be ready to do our part.

SIGN THIS PETITION TO SAVE MALAYSIA FROM NAJIB RAZAK
(I posted this in Kit’s blog the other day. I agree with you the nation is DONE if this man become PM.)
Najib arm-twisted the palace in Perak and he is now trying his luck again. These are the same people who “Derhakakan” Nizar and called the Opposition leaders traitors for not accepting to resign.
But it’s OK if they prearrange the swearing-in of Najib for Friday even without the King’s consent so that we can now have two Prime Ministers.
The King has all the more reason to thaw Najib’s evil designs to force upon the palace to do his bidding. Najib can arm-twist the EC, MACC, AG, and the Police but can he do the same with the King?
How low can you go Najib?
Nathaniel’s concerns are real and chilling, sentiments shared by large sections of civil society.
Never has the appointment of a new Prime Minister been shrouded in so much controversy nationally, and watched with curiousity overseas. Let this not be sidelined by the by-elections, as Nat warns.
Firstly, it has to be established that the PM-designated by UMNO, can command majority support in Parliament; a vote of confidence in Parliament is therefore constitutionally
correct. It cannot be taken for granted that the PM designated by UMNO will receive unanimous endorsement
even by all UMNO legislators, not to mention other MPs from both sides of the House.
A prime minister designate (PMD)so mired in uncleared controversy can hardly inspire and unite a nation so polarised since 1988. This PMD is not one expounding fresh new ideas to lead this nation progress in the social and economic spheres, expand democratic space, enhance investor confidence and promote our international image.
The worst case scenario is a new government which will embark on full scale repression of now powerful dissident forces to pre-empt a transfer of power through a peaceful
constitutional process in the near future.
A massive crack-down on political dissent will create unprecedented civil strife and instability, likely to exceed the post-1988 scenario. It would be national suicide to close
the constitutional route to political change and national revival which civil society is in so much anticipation.
There are a couple of differences from the post 1998 scenario. The economic landscape is more dire nationally and internationally; real incomes have dropped; crime rate has climbed over the years. All these, even without profound political strife, are enough ingredients for a degree of social instability.
The post-1988 outbreak of political protests were largely from a single ethnic community. As progreesive political
forces from all communities of Peninsular and East Malaysia have converged and are united for common cause, any passive civil resistance following a crackdown in 2009 or after would likely have a wider spread across ethnic communities and geographic regions.
If the desperadoes would take this nation on the route of Burma and Zimbabwe, we have living case studies on economic and social outcomes. Malaysia would then descend into profound civil strife at home and reduced to be an outcaste internationally.
Is there a guarantee in solid gold that the the PMD will not take the nation on such a road to immediate catastrophe?
This I hope you will urgently explore with others on the blogosphere, and share with the whole society, including
our most respected Sovereign.

You guys are funny. Thanks for the laughs!
:D
A ray of hope??? You are funnylah Nat..Where you have been? The biggest ray of hope I had was when hearing great speeches on rule of law, museum piece, democracy blah blah blah ….but now I trust what my dad used to say. Actions speak louder than words. Practice what you preach. otherwise, if you can’t beat them join them.
And one more…didn’t the King already thanked Abdullah for his leadership in the parliament? Isn’t it sone sort of farewell to Abdullah from the King?
It is said Friday
The rule of darkness descends
Unless there is a subtle change
The raven on board ship
The Satan’s little devils unleashed
Enough of playing hide and seek
Now it is the full bloom
The darkness falls swiftly
The bad moon rays
Unleashed in the dim light
The dark shadows marching
Into the castles of the peoples’ minds
The glare of sparkling diamonds
Gold and gemstones
The smell of minted wealth
The gravy train moves
Deeply into the ground
Away from the preying eyes
The day of sunshine
Freedom of expression
Easy flow in the web
It will be allegedly gone…..
For the evil has landed
“This is my world!
I am in control
There is no two way about it”
Only the might of people
United and make a stand
For the country
There will be hope
Littlebird, Littlebird, Where have you been? :-)
The farewell note by the Agong is definitely not penned by Agong himself, and chances are it’s the work of Najib’s office. You can easily understand this logic from the coup d’état in Perak.
I think Nat has gone through this struggle longer and deeper than most of us to appreciate the gloom in Malaysia. Perhaps his ‘ray of hope’ just underscores this sentiment. :-)
Pratamad, maybe penned by someone despite MalaysiaInsider says the current Agong writes his own speech. Whatever said, he said and repeated the words penned. You mean to say, they gave the speech only when he was about to read it in parliament. I am sure any person would rehearse what they going to say . In matter or minutes star SMS would reveal if there’s any ray of hope.
Something is not right.
Palace announcements are not supposed to be made by the Chief Secretary to the government.
It should be by the keeper of the ruler’s seal.
Agong pls hear your citizens cries for the truth, justice & freedom. pls take the action against the demon.
let us love you like the thais love their king.
