Eli Wong’s offer to resign = admission of guilt? Pressured by party? from jelas.info by Nathaniel Tan
I’m sure those are big questions, to the middle ground.
I managed to stop by the PC at PKR HQ this morning. Having heard what everyone had to say (a substantial amount), here is my reading of this ’scandal.’
Everyone agrees that Eli is great – her constituents love her to death, her work as an Exco universally lauded, and her record as an activist stellar.
Everyone also seems to agree on her innocence – that she is a victim in this matter.
All that said, her resignation must come as a bit of a surprise.
I suppose it would, unless you really knew Eli.
As reflected in her eloquent statement, I think the consensus reached was that this could drag on for days, weeks and months. The actions of the unscrupulous excuse for a human being that exposed these pictures are unpredictable, there is no telling what more concoctions and attacks there are to come.
Fighting this battle, as many have stated, is not an impossibility, by any means. If her resignation is not accepted, then we will indeed fight it to the end.
In either case, only someone of Eli’s magnaminity, humility, and generosity of spirit would be willing to temporarily sacrifice her own political career, and even face shameless accusers who will consider this an admission of guilt, to save the movement for a better Malaysia from being bogged down in the gutter politics of a lurid scandal.
I greatly admire her willingness to throw the spotlight away from herself, no matter how spotless she is, and back unto the rakyat – whose will will clearly be shown in the event of a Bukit Lanjan by-election.
Everyone, including and especially PKR, stands by Eli’s statement that she has done nothing wrong, and has nothing to be ashamed of.
I think you have seen and will see more of statements indicating the party’s pride in Eli’s record and performance; her loss as a result of such deplorable attacks would be a widely felt tragedy.
If her resignation is accepted, I can only imagine that it is in the same spirit in which Eli offered it. Whatever happens, Eli’s selflessness in this injustice will never be forgotten.

I’d also like to write a few words of personal testimony, having known Eli for a number of years now.
Her consistency, acumen as a politician and activist, as well as her charm and good cheer have ever been a source of delight. I’m happy to consider her an old friend, and a comrade who has paved the way for us (only just slightly) younger ones.
She was there to help my family and loved ones through my incarceration (I just noticed she still has my poster on her blog, bless her), she was also there when I basically first made the leap into politics. Ah, happier days…
Well, Eli has soldiered on for years now, without her fancy positions and titles, so I have no doubt she will continue on, strong as ever! (maybe after a short, super well deserved holiday, if she decides to take one! :)

OKay, this lady has a right to fuck anyone she wants in the comfort of her home, she can sleep with anyone, but then it comes into the open its another story.
There are rumors going around that her boyfriend is not her real boyfriend, but a gigolo.
Sleeping with a Malay man without getting married with him is Khalwat. And to those DAP/PKR, liberal freaks, sex before marriage is rejected by all the major religions in Malaysia.
The first line of our Rukun Negara is Kepercayaan Kepada Tuhan. Yes, you can be agnostic, an atheist or whatever crap, its your democratic right, but we are an Asian country with values, and its not acceptable for a leader to have sex outside of marriage, especially with an unmarried Muslim men.
Yes, but so what right? Who cares about the Muslim religion, this religion in ran by fanatic terrorists, right? PAS is part of Pakatan Rakyat in Selangor and without PAS, the government will collapse. Respect other people’s believes and sensitivities.
This kind of liberalism is crap. You can’t have a leader who accepts and says sex outside of marriage is nothing wrong. WTF?
Do your parents say that to you? What message is this bitch, Eliz, sending to all single girls in Malaya, go out and fuck whoever you want, and its your right?
Like the example here Nat, you and Anwar can do anything in the comfort your own home, I dont care, no one cares. But if a video comes out, its another story.
Bendahara,
You are sick. Eli is clearly a victim in this case, where her private life has been violated by a pervert. Sleeping with a Muslim guy without marriage is Khalwat…but only Khalwat to the malay guy as Eli is not a Muslim.
If Eli is wrong, what about Najib and C4?
Skeat
Did you read Bendahara’s comment? EW is a practising Christian, and Christiany also forbids pre-marital sex outside marriage whether in private or on stage.
What about Najib & C4? Any videos or photos? Go to court then. Do you know why EW doesn’t want to sue her boyfriend? Because more delicious photos and gymnastic videos will come out in the public domain.
Yes, she resign because she’s not guilty.
Bendahara pls go stuff yourself!
1. ELI IS NOT A MUSLIM. SHE IS NOT BOUND BY THOSE LAWS. SHE HAS COMMITTED NO CRIME. IF SHE HAS OMFG WE BETTER DRAG ALL THE SINGLE MP’S OUT MAN COS IM SURE NOT ALL ARE VIRGINS BEFORE THEY MARRIED.
2. EVEN A BLIND PERSON CAN SEE THIS IS A POLITICALLY MOTIVATED ATTACK AGAINST HER. THIS HAS GOT NOTHING TO DO WITH MORALITY. ONLY DUM FUKS LIKE BENDAHARA WOULD THINK OTHERWISE.
3. GUESS WHAT IM NOT A VIRGIN. IM NOT A MUSLIM EITHER. DOES THAT MAKE ME LESS OF A PERSON? DOES THAT DISQUALIFY ME TO BE A PUBLIC REP? SHOW ME WHAT LAWS DISQUALIFY ME OR JUST STFU.
BENDAHARA….WHAT A USELESS EXCUSE OF A HUMAN BEING. I HOPE SOMEDAY UR NAKED PICS GET CIRCULATED ONLINE.
Err… were you born in 1888 or 1988? free world, free will, free sex.
I really wonder. if Eli’s sexual preference will affect her work..
”I really wonder. if Eli’s sexual preference will affect her work..”
Yes it does, and its proven. Brother Anwar bin Ibrahim can’t do anything but main belakang. He is just fucking Najib all the time from behind, no evidence, nothing, just ”cakap kosong”..
and then we have him propagating frogs, another ”belakang” tactic, and then when his kerajaan pintu belakang flopped and Najib turned out to be a better frog hunter, he main belakang again by saying party hopping is illegal. Any academic here want to do a case study?
Bendahara, if that isn’t a very biased attack. You may disagree with her actions, but who are you really, to sanction what she does? I’m sure your religion does not promote speaking ill of people also, hm? Especially with these proof-less attacks on DSAI no less. I would’ve thought that you’d be magnanimous enough to empathise – this is a woman whose dignity was wretched from her by a crook who publicises such pictures, and yet manages to stand tall and strong. Can you act in the same dignified manner in the face of such adversity that she now faces? How about injecting more compassion in your life before you go around spouting “morality” when you yourself is trodding on a a person no less human than you or I while she is down.
Grow a conscience, please.
JT,
I have a conscience, but I choose to channel it in a different way.
I am more worried of the STD rate, HIV, AIDS, teenage pregnancy, etc. Eli is just an individual, the problems with sex out of marriage is enormous
Tell your sister, mother. and daughters they can fuck whoever. they like, CAN?
I would just like to reiterate the point in this article which is to remember Eli Wong for who she is and not just what was recently brought into the spotlight,
How easy it is to condemn a person for their wrong doing and but we forget so often the good.
The point of this article is not to justify her regardless of the moral implications of her actions but to remember her for who she really is at the same time (which brings in the other aspects of her character highlighted in this article).
Now, it is our prerogative to have our own opinion on any issue but let’s do it with the perspective that people fail, morally, all the time.
Personally, i don’t know if she is sleeping with him and like Bendahara said about Najib and C4, you gotta prove it if you think it’s true.
I just think it’s very unfair for us to harp on someone’s negatives, even if someone may be well known and have a heavier responsibility, it is against my principle of do unto others as you would do unto yourself.
I end this by emphasizing that though the opinion of her being guilty may hold some water but we shouldn’t just remember her for this incident.
