Last weekend – Good people we meet

Yeargh! I just realised that I never actually posted this – it was written a few days ago, then accidentally only saved as a draft, so it comes a few days late now, sorry!

Firstly, here’s some pictures from the Rawang Jerit cyclist vigil, and a video from Mediarakyat:

I’ve also been meaning to write about the last weekend. Firstly, at the Bar Council Human Rights Debate, a friend of mine won the public speaking competition – I’m very proud of her :)

Stopped by the Human Rights Concert on Saturday as well. I won’t pretend to be young enough to enjoy some of the metal, but I did like Mei Chern‘s set :)

I was very greatly honoured to have also met there two wives of ISA detainees, both of whom are prolific bloggers (see Merah Hitam and Sepanjang Jalan Kenangan).

The strength these women show day by day is astounding; they don’t stop only at advocating the abolition of the ISA, but still even find time to help others in need. To meet such admirable human beings was an honour.

On Sunday night, I made it to the weekly anti-ISA vigil at PJ, which I’m glad to note is still going strong. As always, it was nice to see old friends :)

delCapo spoke of the Jerit cyclists and the persecution they had faced – and this was even before Rawang.

I also met Estralita, who had some really nice things to say which I appreciated immensely.

These days it’s easy to feel a little lost or without a clear direction; thanks to all of you who help pick up the slack during such times and keep the rest of us honest and motivated.. :)

ps- the title from this blog is taken from a good friend.. :)

  • Hi Nat

I’m glad I waited to say hello to you. I’d seen you a few times but always put it off till that Sunday. I guess timing is important. Anyway, it was a great pleasure to meet you.

    Catch up with you soon!

    Lita
