Many might expect the Najib transition plan to be cause for closing of ranks within BN.
So far, it hasn’t appeared to have a tangible effect, going by some statements from the big Gerakan meeting this weekend:
Outgoing Gerakan Youth chief Mah Siew Keong has urged the party leadership to hold a special meeting to discuss the party’s future in Barisan Nasional.
“This suggestion (to pull out of Barisan Nasional) comes from a portion of the grassroots and as responsible leaders, we must face this sentiment,” said Mah, in his opening address at the Gerakan national delegates conference today.
Gerakan Women’s chief Tan Lian Hoe also broached the subject and suggested that the party only stay with BN should the coalition adopt a more multiracial approach.
“Are Barisan leaders, particularly from Umno, ready to change their struggle for a multiracial society (through) fairness, without any prejudice, extremism and communalism?” she asked.
“If Barisan components are ready to change, leaving aside their self interests and prioritising a multiracial struggle, Gerakan will be loyal and stay with BN.”
Would be good if this is start of a trend, wherein dissatisfaction is interpreted to be more about BN as a whole than just about Dollah.
ps- I found Mat Taib’s announcement in his blog to be telling and amusing.

lame duck out, the devil stepped in. Prepare for the worst. Can we blame Gerakan for reconsidering their position in BN? MCA and MIC plus Sabah and Sarawak component parties should also reconsider. What’s with UMNO, having no capable man to lead? Selangor should enter the Guinness Book Of Record for having 2 not 1 recycled ex-MB who are now eyeing for 2 of the top post in UMNO.
Of course the sky will not cave in on Malaysia if Najib steps in as premier but, will the sun shines through and promises beautiful days ahead? Keep dreaming component parties!
Gerakan can only talk and has many things to say, no balls to act. If the majority of the grass root members are in favor of leaving BN why are some of the leaders still wanting to hold on….waiting for the durians to drop?
“The mind is willing, the flesh is weak”
All along, I have high regards with GERAKAN leaders. But looking with what is gong on, the GERAKAN are of the same quality of the UMNO Malays. The just elected president is of Pak Lah in the making in GERAKAN. Though academically qualified but dunno where he puts his brain, being in the comfort zone for too long. Shame on you KTK..
The longer you wait to be in cohort with UMNO the worst is GERAKAN image is going to be. For better nation get out of BN, and if you care KTK do it during you closing speech.
In a new ball game will there be new rules, players and goal posts
Making it extremely difficult to work out who are the real new hosts
Or will it still be a case of status quo by retaining the same old ghosts
Rehashed to play their same old roles regardless of the new running costs

What is GERAKAN waiting for? Just leave and burn the bridge. Tak tau malu, GERAKAN even accepted the CM post when they got less seats than UMNO. Now, when they lose all, others are conveniently the scapegoats.
Leave, no one is stopping you.
Don’t overrate Najib. He will fail.
A true leader must first manage his personal and family affairs well before going on to manage the affairs of the country. This must be the proper order of things.
This guy failed at the first hurdle i.e. personal affairs. Know what I mean? And people expects him to run the country? You gotta be kidding me.
