RPK’s Trial, Waiting

I managed to stop by yesterday and this morning. Today I even got to see the man, which really heartened me.

He seemed calm, collected and in control. His family appears ever strong, as do his supporters who have been turning up faithfully.

The trial is ongoing every day this week, in the PJ Sessions Court, near the Taman Jaya LRT, RTD, NRD and (my fave) A&W - feel free to stop by, you’ll enjoy the same wonderful company I have in the last two days.

I even got to meet my ex-captors again! I was especially glad to see this one guy I hadn’t managed to before, who was also taking care of Sheih when he was in captivity. We had a nice chat, and I told him I often quoted his insights on marriage :P

Another person mentioned he was ffearful he may have been passed over for promotion because his postal vote (non-anonymous) went to the Opposition :(

More than a person or two has commented on the slowness of this blog, I must apologise - I’ve just been feeling a little out of it lately.

Not to mention that waiting and seeing has become an altogether unwelcome feature in Malaysian politics. First Anwar, now Abdullah. After his announcement, we will be waiting for Parliament on the 13th, to see if there are any major rumbles.

Whatever happens, I think we have to remember not to depend too much on others to fight our battles. True, somethings can be done almost only by certain people, but I think we shouldn’t underestimate the ability and agency of people power. The time may soon come where we will be tested - our commitment, our patience, our fortitude.

I’m afraid I have no special insight for you presently, but will try to get back into the swing of things sooner rather than later. Humble apologies again.

  1. Nothing insight, all silent thruout the nation. Sivaji the boss, where are you?!!!

  2. Hi Nat,

I must be one of those you’re refering to. Hohoho…we’re all sincere people, I suppose. And nice to see your write-up today. Not those of just a few lines. :)

And nice to say ‘hi’ to you and Azmi Sharom yesterday. In fact, I pointed out the smartness in both you guys to my elder bro’ and sis’ who were there too yesterday.

Yes bro’, hope to see back swinging.

  3. Hey Nat,

Sorry about this. Missed out the ‘you’ in the last para.’

  5. Nat, this is a period of WAITING, it would appear… it’s like we’re flying through a huge cloud bank that obscures the sky. But I look at it this way: those of us who are waiting for 13 Oct when Parliament reconvenes to see if Anwar’s defectors are for real have a great deal to hope for… whereas those who are waiting to see how long Umno can stumble on in its present discombobulated state have nothing to look forward to except enforced migration or a spell in prison! ;-)
