Such a terrible incident :(
I’m sure many people are fuming mad over this, and they have every right to be. No human being should be subject to such vicious attacks.
I am still smelling great mischief at work. The last thing we should do is cower in fear of placate violence, but, I have always believed in fighting smart.
In this unfolding tragedy, I believe we must refrain from fighting (literal) fire with fire.
Conscious of what appears to be a concerted attempt to polarise Malay-Chinese sentiment, we must channel our outrage into something constructive and positive, and denounce virtriol.
YB Teresa, I know these will be tough days for you, and I really feel for your family. You have earned the admiration of so many in this last month, and understandably so.
In this growing hour of darkness, I hope your endless fount of strength will be the strength of wisdom, statesmanship and above all, love.
For you and your party, a great opportunity exists to set the tone for the character of your political struggle and what it represents.
I have faith that you, DAP and all political parties concerned will rise beyond blind rage and ethnic thinking to become a movement and resistance based on the principles of Gandhi, King and Mandela.

What are the police doing? Aren’t they supposed to track down these trouble makers who are no doubt terrorists in the making of the Taliban type? These are the people who should be caught and jailed under the ISA, not someone like Theresa who is only speaking up for the rights of all her constituents irrespective or race or religion.
[...] Teresa’s Bombing Defining moments, Time to fight hate with love Posted on September 27th, 2008 by Nathaniel [...]
In these difficult times, please remember how much all Malaysians love and respect Raja Petra, regardless of race, colour or creed. Do not fall into the trap of psycho politicians attempting to incite racial hatred during Hari Raya for their own selfish gains.
When Jesus walked the earth 2000 years ago, He was subjected to ridicule, accusations and lots of false testimony. But still He held His ground and did not retaliate. He showed compassion, and showed his followers to love rather than to hate; to forgive rather to keep in the heart for these are the attributes of the Kingdom of God. Let us pray for God’s love, mercy and grace for our nation as we turn away from our wicked ways.
wah..this is bad…not a good a sign ….this is not good …malaysian wants to know who is behind this….
Only cowards and mad dogs attack old ladies, old men and children. If there so-called “defenders of whatever it is that they believe in” have the guts or have the teloq, then they should just come out into the open with their reasons and arguments.
We shall not fear the cowardice act of these low down creeps, born with racial hate and kuran aja. Love has no meaning in the minds of these cowards.
Sadly, these sort of events, could not be prevented due to the incompetency of the police force. Until and unless, we get strong and dignified leaders who will run the country, free from political influence and carry out their duties, fully for the interest of the nation, we can expect this sort of act happening again.
So where do we go from here?
Change the ruling UMNO-BN govt, who preaches racial and religious hatred, with a new administration willing to reform the corrupted police and judiciary.
“concerted attempt to polarise Malay-Chinese sentiment”
Maybe its about time that such phrases may have to be removed from our syntax.
The so called “Malay-Chinese schism” that is supposed to be a factor that actively imposes itself in the commnities we live in may have once been a fact. It has been very much an assumption that imposes itself in the policies and laws of the land. And it now can be seen that when in trouble to explain itself, UMNO is relying on this assumption to actualise to save itself. What is sad is we have imbecile leaders in MCA who want to lend a hand to perpetuate that assumption.
Fact at this time is such a schism does not exist. The proof was clear to see in the GE 2008. Further evidence of it was once again shown at the Prrmatang Pauh by-election.
Of course this simply means disastrous for UMNO and the BN parties.
But why, one might ask. But when you look at it you will see from eveything that UMNO says of itself and its role in UMNO and its role in leading this nation, it sees the various races and different religions as in a state of being constantly in opposite poles. It is BN led by UMNO that provides the glue to keep us all together and not fighting off one another.
What Pakatan Rakyat is unraveling is that that assumption is so outdated. That assumption that we are in a constant state of hostility and if not for the UMNO led BN glue we would break out fighting each other has been a lie that has been perpetuated for so long that many even in PR still believe that there is such a thing as Malay, Indian and Chinese instead of a singular Malaysian.
The issues raised since Ahmad Ismail has very much to do with attempting very much to revive an assumption that has been dead for a while now. If not race, then religion. They tried with the Sin Chew reporter and Theresa Kok, and when that blew in their own faces, Now they try the violent way, hoping that someone will ricohchete what they shoot first. But the ricochete is not happening.
They try so hard to aggitate the Malay/Muslim crowd suggesting that there is a common agenda where they can unite. But even that there is no traction. They forget, people today even in the most rural areas ask that one simple question. Unite for what?
Obviously those calling for Malay/Muslim unity are hoping that any such union will be a statement of commonness in the fear or anger or sensitivity to the actions or words of a perceived enemy. Obviously there is no one is biting even from amongst the Malays. Indeed considering that UMNO pretends to be the protector of the Malays and is just about in every nook and corner of Malasia, that they are unable to even agitate a single kampung to action tells you something about their grass root support. Obviously UMNO is worried. More so their war lords who are losing out in lost contracts especially in the Pakatan States.
As UMNO empties of its support and members, just as empty vessals making most nise we can expect there to be more and more noise. With too many people talking there will only be noise with no clarity. But with fewer UMNO war lords contrbution to that noise, there is going to be greater clarity to their potential for disastrous actions and we can expect to hear their mentality and their thoughts more clearly. No more pantuns and whatever not.
We should expect this and we should not be moved. Fact is we should let a dying idea die. That is what UMNO and BN are.
somehow when the news broke it didn’t really surprise me. remember the incident after Bar Council’s forum – shahrizat’s ,former residence of dato ambiga was thrown with similar minor explosives? one might think the two incidents are the doing of the same individuals.
about yb teresa, in certain quarters respect for her has increased but there’s also many many malaysians who find her demeanour after her release as a bit immature. her reactions in her blog sounds as childish and petty as the MSM’s play-up on the issue. I wish she could come out of the detention & speak out against ISA appearing as sophisticated as dato zaid ibrahim’s resignation – but she let me down. she should have calmed her emotions and remind herself to be the bigger person – focus on the issue and not herself!
i expect the current furore to continue if teresa cannot rise above the pettiness of BN & MSM. hmmm..
A few questions. DSAI’s been saying he “has the numbers” since way before Sept 16 and turns out, to everyone’s eyes, he doesn’t. Doesn’t that make him a liar?
DSAI reportedly claimed at the rally at the Kelana Jaya stadium that he will reveal the names of the supposedly defecting MPs the next day. He doesn’t. Doesn’t that make him a liar?
DSAI says that a new government will be formed latest by Sept 16. It wasn’t. Doesn’t that make him a liar?
Guess not huh since he’s DSAI?
I’m cool with everyone supporting sides. But please lets not make him to be such a saint.
P.S Despite the constant denials of Anwaristas in their blogs, DSAI is fast losing his credibility and it shows.
:)
