The cause of Pak Bakaq’s arrest - Police Vengenance over BK Tan expose? (Update 12pm)
Update 12pm: I’m not 101% sure this is the right thing to do, but I found the image for which Pak Bakaq was reportedly arrested on this post. I was a bit suspicious because it apparently appeared earlier on this earlier post, but has since been deleted. However, the first image I came across was hosted on blogspot (presumably Pak Bakaq’s?) and the second on Photobucket.
Read the content of the article. It’s hard not to suspect that there was some vengeful motive on the part of the cops, as Pak Bakaq was speaking out strongly against corruption in the force, and collusion between its top brass and known gangsters.
In fact, Pak Bakaq seemed to be quoting Raja Petra a lot - who has taken up this particular gauntlet of exposing police corruption many a time. Looks like since Raja Petra was already under considerable fire, they maybe wanted to unleash their frustrations against someone else.
The exposes dealt extensively with exactly the type of corruption scandals that has recently featured on the front pages: multi-billion ringgit deals involving the police and very sketchy elements (like BK Tan, Israeli security forces, etc), over communications and IT “upgrades” for the cops.
Our duty, as always, is to not let them off the hook. We must remind them that we are watching closely.
If we don’t, then all those corrupt deals involving the cops and billions of public funds will continue to go through, exactly as Syed Hamid announced today.

Since my usual fave, Malaysiakini, didn’t seem to cover it, I had to turn to The Star for my info :P
Blogger Bakaq @ “Penarik Beca” was arrested by the Federal Commercial Crimes Investigation Department (CCID) under the Sedition Act for allegedly defacing the Royal Malaysia Police logo by replacing the tiger symbol with a barking dog.
He is also said to have removed or defaced the crown bearing the words Allah and Mohamed with the symbol of a star.
Well, at least we know that now (if accurate). Looks like cops take offense easily.
When I find a moment, I’ll try to locate the post with this altered logo - any/all help will be most appreciated.
Many thanks to Mahaguru, Nora and others who helped write about yesterday’s small gathering. Thanks as well, to the very many others who helped publicise this case online.
By right, unless Pak Bakaq’s one day remand order is renewed, he should be released today. Let’s hope.

He indeed insulted dogs if he really did that. Dogs never screw the country, okay?! But, since when insulting dogs is a crime?
[...] of me, I cannot think of any comprehensible reason why would anyone arrest Pak Bakaq, but I saw this reason provided by Nat. Not sure it is true or not but if it is….it has to be the silliest reason [...]

if you notice, RPK article linked by Penarik Beca was removed.
Maybe police tought that only copies at PB available on web.
but its not
WAHT!???!
over a 50Kb pixelated jpg???
No wonder real criminals are laughing at our 5-0s for wasting their time on arresting bloggers instead of investigating real crimes!
Poor Bakaq, let’s hope & pray for his release soon.
polis is the gangster friend. it’s a known secret.
just look at the case of millions ringgit drug missing in the polis headquater in the johor. what a shame!!!
a total reform is required for the polis force.
‘Corpse’ means bead body ready to be disposed, buried or cremated.
So which did you mean, corpse or cops? Because both sounds the same to me….
Anyway, our next Prime Minister DSAI just said all these grouses,grievances,complaints,dissatisfactions,heart-aches and headaches, murmurings, grumblings, moanings and groanings are going to end with ‘birth’ of a new Malaysia.
Acquire and Protect: these are the two prime imperatives governing human behavior for the last few thousand years. Once you have acquired heaps of property - by honest or dishonest means - you need to protect it. Enter the concept of “security.” Over time the security system invariably becomes “pagar makan padi” (the fence collapses and destroys the crops). As kids we all played Cops & Robbers and often the roles were reversed. This is exactly what has happened to our own police force - which is way too big and powerful. What we must do is aim for QUALITY - not quantity! When the new government is in place, what needs to be done is to provide retraining opportunities for the entire police force, to enable them to acquire new occupational skills; then many would be in a position to create new careers for themselves, with the help of a generous gratuity if they accept voluntary retrenchment. RPK is the best man to be offered the post of honorary IGP - at least for a few years, or until he successfully oversees the complete overhaul of PDRM.
