Blogger Penarik Beca arrested under Sedition Act

Update 12pm: The gathering is on! See you there!

According to Amin Iskandar, blogger Bakaq aka Penarik Beca was arrested last night.

Other details seem to be as of yet unavailable.

Pak Bakaq may not be as famous as RPK or get as much media attention as Anwar today, but I’ve been following his blog for some time and while not always 100% in agreement, have found his writings to be insightful, thoroughly consistent in their sincerity and informed by compassion as well as a steadfast commitment to justice.

I got an (unverified as of yet) sms saying that there will be a gathering at 2pm at the police Commercial Crimes Dept (CCID, in the Bukit Perdana police complex, to the left and back of the Bank Negara roundabout if approaching from parliament – the same place where I was held and questioned) to show our support.

I hope All-Blogs and the rest of the community will catch wind of this soon and solidarity and support for which they are justly famous. This persistent use of the Sedition Act against bloggers is extremely disturbing.
