Perhimpunan Rakyat - So far, so good :)
Credit where credit is due - I almost didn’t see a single cop today (though they were there, according to Haris’ insightful post), and certainly no soldiers.
Well done, Malaysia!
It looks like the truckloads of soldiers spotted by people close to me over the last few days were acts of intimidation that the authorities wisely decided to call off (so far).
The event was going well, when we left to take a break. Everything is smooth (though perhaps a 14-hr rally may be a bit on the long side :) , people are pumped, and things are well handled.
Malaysiakini is doing a good job following the proceeding, Haris’ first hand account is pretty accurate.
I invite whoever is considering going to please head on over tonight, be a part of history.
Let me register once again my delight that there was no intimidation, and fully expect there to be none tonight. It looks like there’s a good compromise wherein stadium events are left alone, and I’ve never really known a night event to be broken up violently - so stop by, onlookers, and take the first step to becoming activists for a better Malaysia :)
Bloggers strike? I’ll save my comments (watch out, WCW) for tomorrow :)

picture plss..
they may be planning a knock out tonight.
Dont take chances
Keep Anwar Safe
This simply prove that the rakyats are innocent and decent Malaysians. They merely want to express their dissatisfaction in an orderly way to a
crooked government, handling the economy , Is that a crime? The provocation always starts from the government. The Home Minister and IGP have forgotten, we
tax paying rakyats are their boss…not the PM or DPM.
I was in Seberang Jaya last night. The crowd was so well behaved that night except for the photographers and reporters who were blocking the whole stage.
There were a FEW traffic policeman on duty !!!!
A totally different enviroment if the BN Stupid leaders were to be here.
Even the CM was just that free to be here.
DSAI was the hero last night…even though he didnt elaborate ont the report against him.
I too was in Seberang Jaya last nite and the crowd was too good for words to describe. So orderly and so discipline was the croud that I felt more than safe.
Well done Malaysians and I take my hats off to all Penangites for showing the way.
Agreed that 14-hr rally is too long - it dilutes participants’ attention and the message to be sent across. I was mistaken it was from 10am-12pm (2hr!) and misled my friends as a result. A carnival style rally for 4 or 5hrs is probably just sharp and sweet. :)
who organized the rock-band? they were marvelous, especially the tribute-to-anwar act. Those who invited this rock band was trying to send some message to Anwar…..perhaps it’s time for Anwar to resign!!
wait, wait, who gave out the permits and the contracts for the stalls in the carnival? i smell some PKR corruption here..
Correct me if i’m wrong but wasn’t there supposed to be a million people or something? Just wondering.
Some said more than million, some claims only few thousands. Who is right?
