Threatened? Bribed? Lied? (updated 6.30pm – latest press statements)

Update 6.30pm: Have a look at the press statements by Sivarasa and Americk Singh Sidhu

Update 3pm: Malaysiakini Super Sleuth Li Tsin alerts me of another damning bit of info:

Balasubramaniam’s statutory declaration was affirmed before commissioner of oaths Zainal Abidin Muhayat, bearing an address that is traced to Zul Rafique & Partners – a pro-establishment law firm owned by Zulkifly Rafique who is Federal Territories minister Zulhasnan Rafique’s brother.

*SNAP!!*

Dunno about you, but that piques my suspicions for sure. Here’s the longer quote from Americk, who along with YB Sivarasa, is scheduled to give a PC later this afternoon:

“”Meanwhile, Balasubramaniam’s lawyer, Americk Singh Sidhu, who was with the former yesterday when he made the stunning revelations, was “absolutely unaware” of the latest development.

Americk told Malaysiakini that Balasubramaniam received a phone call from the police soon after his press conference yesterday to report to the Brickfields police station.

“I advised him that as a law-abiding citizen, he should go and see them. So I fetched him to the Brickfields police station at 4.45pm yesterday and I haven’t heard from him since,” he said stressing that he has failed to contact Balasubramaniam since this news broke out.”"

Update 1pm: Something in Malaysiakini you may have missed:

“Balasubramaniam’s lawyer has told Malaysiakini that Balasubramaniam was contacted by the police soon after his press conference yesterday. He last saw his client after dropping him off at the Brickfields police station at 4.45pm.”

Contacted by the police directly after PC? Last seen being handed over to the cops? Retraction first thing next day?………………………

The truth is, I have no idea.

But let’s be patient, I suspect more intriguing facts will reveal themselves shortly, and will try to update if I can.

In the meantime, here’s a question for you. Who is this M. Arulampalam, Bala’s new lawyer? Who is he connected to? Why get rid of the former lawyer?

  2. I think he got cold feet.
And now he’s trying to minimize the damage that he had or forced to do.
I wonder who is this person who’s been forcing Mr. Bala to declare the 1st SD.

  3. Hi Nat,

This is geeting more fishy than it seems, only Najib’s portion has been ommited and the PC was held the very last minute. Bala came with new lawyer & left without answering further Qs. It sure sounds that there were unseen hands that got to Bala yesterday evening, night and the PC was organized this morning for him to retract Najib’s portion.

I do hope that DSAI has further concrete evidence (video, photograph if possible) to substantiate.

    Best Regards

  4. Nat,
Pease dig more for more info and keep us posted. I understand that DSAI is make a PC soon. Hope it goes live on Keadilan TV or make it available on your blog. You are doing a great job.

  5. Not like the SD was made long time ago. Barely getting warm. Why omit only the portion on najib? Same reason as why the judges and the prosecutors were changed?

  6. somthing very fishy is happening !! Why only dropped off the Nazis part ? Who is threathened him ? Why this in PC ? From Who ?

  7. Malaysia = Police State. SD retracted after visit to police station. What has happened? Your guess is as good as mine.

  8. retract?? that means he lied?? then take action…

  9. The plot thickens… Najib going to see another day…

  16. MALAYSIA BOLEH! mah…..
    Apa-apa pun boleh……

The truth will prevail. DSAI you have a lot to do but be careful and play it smart and right.

  17. Though it’s shocking to some extent but it is definitely understandable. To say Anwar or any of his people compelled Bala does not make sense at all. It’s a total stupidity if anyone could say that now.
However we Malaysians know very well of Malaysia’s Polis and corrupt practice. Najib too will have to do whatever necessary to keep Anwar and his revealings. Looks like Malaysia is deteriorating with its’ left over qualities.

God save Malaysia and guess god too lost interest in us.

  18. Balasubramaniam & the whole family must be immediate protected by the nation!

Their lives are already in danger, pressure and threaten already given to them other wise he should give such reaction. His eyes tells a million what have actually encountered and happened after he when to the police investigation yesterday..

The specialist should know the best, we cannot hide truth from our eyes and body reactions…

  19. This is becoming more disgusting by the minute.
    And really infuriating!

  21. What a wonderful world! The ‘flip flop’ flu is indeed spreading very fast…..
Bala I understand you have put your life on the line, what credibility have you left…except perhaps, you are now trying to make a mockery of the situation, too late, the cat is already out of the bag!

  22. PTUIII…PTUIII…PTUIII.

    PORRAH, DON’T WASTE OUR TIME!

  23. [...] the meantime, like Nat said “let’s be patient, I suspect more intriguing facts will reveal themselves [...]

  24. every rasional person could guess what really happened here. he has to retract his SD only on parts where it concern najib. why he not charge for lying? because he will have to defend himself at court and that’s not a good thing since he can then just declace the truth, thus more damage done to najib. at court ur statement must come with swear so force him to retract is the best solution. and since national media won’t say much about it, not many people will know the truth.

  25. I think the cops told him that the special forces had a C4 with his name waiting for him

  26. Very simple. Can Najib just sue Bala for defamation? Leave the cops out of this and they should not threaten or bribe Bala. Najib and Bala can fight it out in court. While justice may not be served but truth will definitely be known to all Malaysians and the world. Or is it the cops are worried because many facts were omitted from Bala’s original statement. Then the cops should charge Bala for defaming the polis. All Malaysians love to know the truth.

  27. This latest saga only proves the medling of the powers that be to ensure the truth is never revealed. This poor Mr Bala would have got his ass sodo mee in the balai polis. Ha Ha Ha Ha . But seriously there is no low that our politicians will stoop to. To remain in power. If this goes on then all our asses as rakyat malaysia is skcrewed. Theres still hope. IM SURE SOMEBODY WILL SAVE US>

  28. Well…what i find a bit disturbing is also the fact that Bala’s Lawyer dropped him off at the station at 4:45pm yesterday. Knowing very well that the SD yesterday was going to be a big shockwave to the nation and we are talking about heavy accusation here against our DPM….. as your lawyer…. wouldn’t you be required to also follow your client to the police station? isn’t it Bala’s right to have his lawyer present at the time of police questionning? why just drop him off and go???

Your client needs all the protection he needs and all you do is hand him over in a silver plate to the enemy??? WHAT IS GOING ON???

Weren’t Bala, his lawyer, Anwar, PKR…anyone preparing some sort of protection for him???

i just find it very very very strange……

  29. Wonder which nut is advising najis,now that the shit has hit the fan what more can be done to repair his position.{no specifics here}

  30. There you have it…. It was all a set up to begin with & Datuk Seri Anwar knew it all along as they would pick the bait…

Great strategist we have in our 6th PM.

  31. yea, what “kovenant” said is right. why the hell did his lawyer just leave him alone with the police? dont we know how the system works in this country? i’m sure his family must be scared the shit out of them. they need protection. may God bless him.

  32. the only one now who can bring out the truth (and set us all free too) is abdul razak baginda. god, i hope his conscience catches up with him b4 we all, 27 millions, malaysians go down with him.

time is running out though…. they are wrapping up the case. which makes one wonder, why the sudden speed?

one and one, i got two.

  33. Forget Bala. He’s lost all credibility as an honorable man. Let him swallow his own words and choke on it. The whole SD episode was in bad taste anyway, no hard evidence or proof being provided. Feel sorry for Malaysia, now the butt of sd jokes in the international arena.
    SD= Statutory Declaration
    sd = sexual disease

  34. from rocky bru’s
“…Ok, what now? If you had swallowed every word Bala wrote in his SD earlier, how do you digest his retraction?
(And don’t tell me someone threatened to blow up his wife and babies, ok?). ..”

seriously, i think this was what happended when bala went to the police station immediately after his 1st SD.

we are living in a police state, or so it seems…

hey, can u blame me for thinking that way???!!!!

to borrow from patrick teoh,… NIAMAH!!!

  35. i think he had too much of Todi for breakfast this morning , that is why he retracted his SD, maybe he will retract what ever he has just retracted today XD

  37. A subang jaya lawyer. SD affirmed in KL. Sudden change of lawyer. Why is he wearing a cap? shaven head like Munawar? but maybe he just played double game and screwed opposition big time. :))

  38. Bala the new Nallakaruppan

  39. figurative, after 50 years of experiencing n enduring ‘hell’,malaysian by enlarge should hav learnt n understood how ‘devils’ work with their deeds.
most probably his files for his tenure as a member of PDRM for 17 years could hav been ‘reopen’ again;simple, isn’t it??they are ‘leopards’,with spots;otherwise it would be then jus ‘black’!!

  40. Hello nat,

Bala is retracting everything which concern about Najib in his previous SD. This is indeed a good news to Najib. But, this is quite fishy because he retract his statement so suddenly. Something must have forced him to do so. And I believe that most speculation form the law of public opinion will be “the federal government is supressing the statement which involves DS Najib Tun razak.”

Anwar will be overjoy with the views done by the public opinion. He will used the public opinion to manipulate the federal governament onto his hand with the previous issue being accused to him as the concrete proof for the public to refer. What a genius evil this person could be.

  41. Tindakan Bala pada hari ini sgt memalukan…

  42. Bala only backed out after he was called up by the Brickfield Polis.

He sensed danger and fear of the ‘invisible hands’ expressed all over his face.

The 2nd SD legally corroborated the 1st SD.

Denial does not change its Statement of facts .

    Syabas to all Peacemakers

  43. it just shows pkr’s intelligence unit’s amateurism…
bala was an asset.. but they left him alone, dropped him off somewhere and let the cops get to him… come on la… can u guys think like 48 hours ahead ? you guys are going against murderers and corrupt people….

  44. anyway, the bomb hav been exploded n damage is done.now.bala retraction is jus a recollection of debris!!malaysian ,as a matter of fact hav been jus fed with another ‘packet of sodomee’!!

  45. Najib is now caught in a dillema. If he allows the first SD to go through unhindered, he is presumed guilty. But if he were to resort to what is being done now, retract the first SD and then issue a second SD followed by a PC, Najib now looks as guilty as hell since his name has been omitted in the second SD. Boy oh boy, if I were Najib, I should be having nightmares now and every night. It is as good as Freddy Kruger on the prowl.

  46. Nat

I am a little bit puzzled.

    When

    1. You were escorted to the police station;

    2. Protestor in an ‘illegal’ assembly were held in the police station;

    3. Bloggers were called for questioning in the police station;

the news spread very fast and there were crowds of candle lights vigil held the respective police stations.

How come this one is so different from all the above?

  47. najis is in a bgger mess as far as any right minded person is concerned;why only those paragraphs concerning the DPM hav been retracted???very very big question marks indeed!!
besides, why the hoohaa on ‘liwat meliwat’??jus track down with the singapore’s ‘ 2003 immigration record’ or the exhibition cctv tracks on altantuya, najis n baginda if they were really there;pretty sure in singapore they would not erase documentations n records at their own whims n fancies.however, who knows??s’pore might jus use it to ask for ‘pulau pisang ‘ as ransom…ha..ha..ha….haaaaa!!!

  48. [...] found out something which confirmed that my inkling was right from Nat’s blog (an updated entry published at 6.30 pm). Here [...]

  49. only razak baginda could tell the whole truth (now that altantuya) is dead. he’s still alive. there’s hope yet. perhaps his own daughter could tell her papa to tell the truth and set us all malaysians free,

  50. do u believe that najis ,at this juncture;really cares how people look at him,his image as a stateman,as a leader???in the first place,he has no image to talk about long since time ago,he would be infact only ‘fighting’ to stand on the ‘legal ground’ to prolong his own political significance! hav u seen a lizard sacrifying its tail to save its own life??’moral-faces’ worth nothing to umno goons!!

  51. What is so sickening is that the BN especially the UMNO leaders really treat the members of public in Malaysia as stupid brainless people. How else can we assume the way the twist and turns taking place. Just look at Bala’s face, if compared with yesterday one could see he is under tremendous pressure.

    Patience of people have limits.

  52. [...] Source: Jelas.info [...]

  53. Seeing it in positive light, this latest twist ‘officially’ summarises Bala’s original SD, which runs into 17 pages. It’s now a much easier read. Thank you. :-)

So I have produced an ‘Official’ summary of key points on Najib’s relationship with Altantuya.

  54. By: Francis on July 4, 2008
    at 10:32 am

    Few observations though:

Since we are talking about two SD, let’s examine certain points.

    1. Yesterday, he was all happy and chatted with every journalist, local and foreign.
Today, he refused to talk or take a single question from anyone.

    2. Yesterday, his meeting was announced 24 hrs before it was scheduled.
Today’s meeting was in obscure hotel where few journalists were called in.

    3. Yesterday, he was a happy man, vety jovial and chattery.
Today, BN newspaper the Star wrote that he “was visibly perturbed”

    4. Yesterday, he has informed the people and the journalists who were the people who have jailed him, harassed him, omitted his evidence and maltreated him.
Today, he didn’t say who has forced him. Who has given instructions. Who has mistreated him. He simply refused to talk but run out of the hall visibly disturbed with deep eyes.

    5. Yesterday, he didn’t meet the police before he released his SD in front of world media and local as well,
Today (yesterday’s night) he has spent in BrickFields where he was immediately summoned after he has released his SD and was taken to the station by his former lawyer.

    6. Yesterday, he has released a comprehensive SD touching on Najib, Musa Safri, Baginda, Police, Prosecution, Witnesses (etc),
Today, he has released the same SD but the parts that referred to Najib removed. All other people were retained. (Ha ha! I wonder who advises these people.)

    7. Yesterday, he was a well combed man, with office shirt- and well prepared
Today, he was wearing a dirty T-Shirt with a cap and a was acrrying a plastic bag (black). As his new lawyer talked, he didn’t talk, chat, look up, greet or handshake anyone unlike yesterday.

……..These are simple observations that any intelligent being can pick and realise what’s going on. Furthermore, it is not Bala or Anwar who is in charge of the Defence, Security, Intelligence, Criminal and Justice system of this country but the 3 men accused of conspiracy and evidence manipulation. (Najib, Musa and Patail). You don’t need a child to know who uses force. It is not Anwar who seeks shelter at Embassies fearing for himself but the men who exercise that power over the said institutions.

PS: The Deputy PM doesn’t need Bala to retract any statement which is a perjury now and a criminal act in the penal code. He only needs to file a defamtion suit. Can’t he? If yo are innocent, why trouble yourself with Bala? Just go to the court and said you were defamed and there you go and get your due. When he was asked yesterday, he refused to file a suit, just like he and Rosmah refused to file a defamation suit against Raja Petra. If people are mudslinging you, insulting, incriminating you, and you are innocent, why not seek justice? It is because he knows in courts evidence will be produced and knowing that the Altantuya case has been pre-arranged (we have followed it as a nation), he hopes that by simply denying SDs and refusing to file suits, things will get cooled and he will move on. Heavenly no. Malaysia’s name is at stake. It is not about him, about Anwar or Badawi. It is about this nation and its people.

NB: If he has no confidence in the judiciary of this country by refusing to seek justice at the courts by filing defamation suits against his accusers, who else will trust the regime? The dead? Oh, I’m sorry…we are alive. Thanks to God!
