As polytikus wryly observed, the signature of TDM’s resignation blog post:
Dr Mahathir bin Mohamad (bekas ahli UMNO No 1)
Dr Siti Hasmah binti Mohd Ali (bekas ahli UMNO No 2)
making Sanusi Junid bekas ahli Umno No 3.
Ok. And number 4?………..
Yes, too early to tell, but the first 24 hours do not bode well for our friend.
No Mukhriz (“needs time to think“), no backbenchers, no division leaders.
Ku Li staying put; Najib is a follower of change, not an initiator of one; Muhyiddin, Hisham, Ali Rustam, Rafidah, Tengku Adnan – all quiet.
Well, they’re probably making a lot of demands internally; their prices must be continuously going up and one has to wonder about the state of Pak Lah’s war chest.
It also appears that Mahathir has suceeded in almost literally stealing the headlines from the Lingam report out today.

Hi ,
stay calm and don’t do follow the footsteps of this alien race monger. He is creating chaos among the Malays in the name of Malay unity. Doesn’t someone has got the guts to ask him about his roots???? Where and what is Kutty all about!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am not a racists as I am color-blind, but this man and his policies made me into one………
Dr Mahathir bin Mohamad (bekas ahli UMNO No 1)
Dr Siti Hasmah binti Mohd Ali (bekas ahli UMNO No 2)
I think that only means that he was member no. 1 in UMNO (Baru) and the wife was member no. 2. That party is not 62 years old, but merely 20. The original UMNO was no more in ’88, remember. Got itself made illegal.
Wonder what Anwar’s membership number was … ;)
In the popular children’s game “Follow the leader”
It’s getting more confused as to the real “leader”
Since many followers want their turn to be “leader”
Do they have to draw lots or pay to be the “leader”?

Let Dr Mahathir and his darling wife and Sanusi (bodyguard ) resign from UMNO and all their lucrative posts in Malaysia and go and live in Mugabe’s home. Birds of the same feather flock together.
Future political leaders must have their brains tested for loyalty to the nation and put to death if they are corrupt (even by Royal Commission of Inquiry standards). Check the children: how much was used by us (the Govt, the public) to bail out their cronny companies and for use of Petronas jets and other perks. Something must be done NOW…Thank you.
“stealing the headlines from the Lingam report out today.”
Nat, you are perceptive. This has a lot to do with the Lingam report. Just as Badawi’s release of the report was aimed directly at Mahathir.
Tit for Tat.
I think Mahathir has overestimated his remainding influence in UMNO. In a culture based on financial patronage, the incumbent President holds most, if not all , the cards. Mahathir should know – he designed the system.
HEY! You know what just occurred to me… it would be hilarious if Mahathir is the “UMNO veteran” that Guan Eng was saying has joined the Penang state government. Guan Eng said recently that UMNO has quietly been pressuring this individual to resign. And we know it is a veteran. And Mahathir gets to have a bridge construction project, after Badawi killed the last one (Mahathir likes to build bridges, but only literally). The glass slippers fit PERFECTLY! hahahahaha…..
And also, after some reflecting, I think Big M blew the math again… he blew the math when he sacked Anwar the way he did, and now he’s got it wrong with quitting UMNO, and – fingers crossed – I think I may just get my wish for him to be rendered irrelevant.
So hey, in a few weeks, maybe joining the Penang state government would be the ONLY way Mahathir can regain headlines. Well, either that or being charged for various crimes related to Lingamgate.
Let the good times roll.
Another defamation sue in the making. This will be the first Malaysian taken to court for libel charges just because he made a Genuine Consumer Complaint on the Internet. Should we keep quite from being bullied by the rich and powerful? Is it right to use the law to muzzle a consumer in grievance? I think TDM acted rashly at the heat of the moment and now cannot back down. It wasn’t a calculated move and yet his might ego doesn’t allow him to turn back. It may be a blessing in disguise for UMNO and a false hope for those who want to see UMNO’s demise.
