Najib doesn’t care if MORE children die under NS

Video by Bert, via Tian

The man who would be PM:

In announcing the continuation of the programme, Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak said the number of deaths was a small percentage compared to the 339,186 trainees who had benefited from the programme up to now.

For the parents of those who passed away due to government negligence, it doesn’t matter if the figure is 90% or 0.01%. There is a whole in their lives that will never be whole again. Only those who have lost a child can understand.

There is a deep, unspeakable anger reserved for those who would be so callous with human life. The jury is still out on Altantuya, and having the blood of those already gone on Najib’s hands is bad enough; what is worst is that this unthinkable cruelty on his part is simply going to get more children killed.

I would also like to ask this DPM who would be PM - has he attended a single funeral for any one of these deaths? Has he or anyone in his stupid ministry or department expressed any meaningful sorrow or regret for children whose very lives, sacred beyond measure, that were entrusted in full to their care?

I think he may have also lied with regard to Singapore.

“Many more trainees have died in Singapore but the people of Singapore give more importance to national interests,” he said.

I now know enough about Singapore to state unequivocally that it is a vast distance away from being perfect, but have there really been more NS deaths there than in Malaysia, in a similar time period, and judging - using Najib’s brilliant logic - by percentages?

And how dare Najib question national loyalty. In sending these children to their untimely fate, these parents did more duty than Najib ever could have, and they paid the price in blood.

What has Najib ever sacrificed for Malaysia? (besides the rakyat’s money to subsidise “commissions”) What gives him the right to say that the lives of a “small percentage” of children are worth sacrificing to keep some dumb fat cat national service contractors happy?

  1. He can say what he want, the question I like to be answered is any of his kids been in the national service. Knowing the Malaysian attitude if he or she are the children of these peoples special treatment are given to them. The Malaysians are very feudalistic. To Malaysian anyone in power must always be right. they can do no wrong. Malaysian is a bangsa yang suka mengharap. That why they are kaki bodek. I can rest assured if Najib kid is in NS he or she wil be look after well.

  2. Why should the piece of shit cares? It’s not his children or granchildren who died. Why should non-executive LLT and his executive rakan rakan care? It’s not their children or granchildren who died. As long as someone makes money and it is someone else’s child died, it is OK. Just don’t get shitie and rakan rakan’s child killed.

  3. i really can’t believe Najis will continue NS. IS he goig to wait for more death, then only to suspend it !!

Parents, Pls wake up and boycott NS as it cannot ensure the safety of the trainee.

  4. singapore ns is very thorough and is the real ns, solely for men and no hanky panky……….and each death is thorougly investigated and no cover up.

  5. Personally, I think the DPM cares and loves all children of Malaysia.

Only that he was advised on the percentage of deaths compared to the number of trainees.

Perhaps he should be given also the percentage of casualty that happen in the training every time.

And the follow up on the percentage of those that finish the training. How much percentage really benefit from the training.

How about the percentage per trainer to trainees?

    Percentage of sickness happening?

    Percentage of expenditure per trainee?

Percentage of ROI on each trainee?

    Bottom line, to quote the Chairman of the National Service Training Council;

“each time a death occurs in the camps, it nullifies all the good work and efforts put in by the council and the Department to promote the National Service”

My question is 22 times each death, does
22 times NULLIFIES all the good work EQUALS to a decision to halt the programme indefinitely?

  7. This is the man that mahathir says should be the next PM.
Btw it`s good news, mahathir has found his memory:

Former prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad said he would not settle for less than his day in court so that he could defend himself against allegations he was at the centre of a judicial appointments scandal in 2001.

He hoped that when investigations into the conspiracy were completed, which also involved a lawyer, a tycoon and a former minister, he would be charged.

Dr Mahathir said he would then reveal what really went on behind the scenes at the time, including instances of judges lobbying him for promotions.
    http://nst.com.my/Current_News/NST/Sunday/Frontpage/2243560/Article/index_html

Or he lied before the Royal Commission. On that alone there`s ground to prosecute him.

  8. As long as it does not concern his children , this sorry a… for a would be PM , what happens to others is not his business.

BTW , VVIP’s children are ‘exempted’ from national service . They are more comfortable snuggling cosily with their dads in government owned jets bought by taxpayers money !

  9. Please let NS to continue bcoz soon PR is going to lead the governemnt and we can use NS to teach children to live together without suspicious of one’s religion or race.

We can teach them what is corruption by highlighting so many examples of the previous governement deeds.

We can teach them why independent of judicaiary is important by showing VK Lingam’s tape.

We can teach them about wastage and stupid decision by showing all the white elephants (or is it ivory towers).

We teach the children that fight for cause and stand up against all odds by showing DSAI imprisonment.

We can teach them how certain politician incite racial sentiments just to be in power and influence by showing doucmented proof since 1969.

    So please let NS continue.

p.s. We can also teach the trainers that any deaths would be charged for an offence under the penal code for causing death through negligence.

  10. Lee Lam Thye should try to salvage the last dregs of his reputation by resigning as Chairman of this ill-conceived scheme which is more to milk public funds than achieve any meaningful purpose.

If, as he claims he has no power to change anything (sounds familiar, even Chinese Ministers have no real power) then why stay on to be a target for all the slings and arrows thrown at him every time a trainee dies?

Unless Lee Lam Thye is enjoying his allowance as Chairman so much that being dragged through mud is an acceptable price to pay.

As for Najib, callously dismissing the deaths as mere statistics shows his callous nature. If there are 1-2 deaths, we can accept that it may be due to freak circumstances but isn’t 20+ deaths enough to tell anybody that something is seriously wrong?

Why has no independent investigations ever been done and why has NOBODY been charged or even sacked for the deaths? There is every reason to fear that more deaths will occur as no corrective action will be taken with the dismissal of the deaths as mere statistics.

As a parent, I refuse to send my children to a dangerous and ill-conceived program where their safety cannot be guaranteed and I’m willing to face court action for this.

  11. Najib?

How many percent do you make for each kids dead?

rajraman666. NAjib your time will come to anwser to your god how many % left in your accounts of deeds. Then the devil999 will give you the % in punishment.

  12. lee lam thye once cried but i guess he has ran out of it with all the subsequent deaths. or is it crocodile tears?
other parties are more important coz they are fat cats to be fed. what are the lives of young malaysians. no more than statistics to najib, lee, chua soi lek and DG of NS .

  13. The outrageously high costs (in monetary terms) of the NS has now been confirmed which range from RM565 to 608.6 million a year. In this report, the deputy defence minister said that RM2.37 billion has been spent on the NS programme so far:

    2004 - RM608.6 million
    2005 - RM604.8 million
    2006 - RM588.2 million
    2007 - RM565 million

No wonder, vested interests do not want the NS programme to be scrapped despite the outrageously high cost in the deaths of innocent young lives.

Meanwhile, the Human Rights Committee of the Bar Council has issued a statement on Friday (16/5/08) regarding the NS deaths which includes the following recommendations:

“The Committee calls for a Royal Commission of Inquiry to be immediately established to expeditiously investigate all deaths at the NS camps, and the NS programme itself. In the meantime, the programme must be suspended or terminated. The Government should offer and pay compensation to the families of the victims who have died or suffered at the NS camps without having the families resort to the vagaries of litigation. It is however noted that money will never be able to off-set the loss of a loved one, especially the loss of a child.

The young people of our nation are our country’s hope for the future and they cannot be lost in the way we have witnessed through deaths at the NS camps. The Government must take stock of these incidents and feel the anguish of the parents. Prima facie, the NS programme is regrettably doing more harm than good.”

  14. Najib, if ur son dead, there’s only less than 0.000001 % of Malaysian, isn’ doesn’ matter?

  15. Why send teenagers to the camp
That’s not bright with any lamp
    Sending most parents’ spirit damp
Knocking over too many a hazardous ramp

  16. it is sickening for the dpm to equate these deaths to a mere statistic…..let me remind him that these are youngsters who meant the world to their parents…they are flesh and blood….frankly, the ns should be scrapped when the first death happened….is there a guaranttee that no more deaths will occur if they persist in running the programme and who will be responsible if another death occur?…questions, questions but no answer,

  17. why everi1 so furious over small percentage of death? i noe we shud pay sum respect to the death. if from 300000++ ppl had already joining PLKN doesnt have any casualty, then i would be suprise,is this the GOD COUNTRY? plus PLKN is not the activity doing in aircondition room like office or sumthing, they have major activity outside, so how to prevent environment cause of death?? but if coz of negligence of some party so it cant be help..hey wake up every1, all of us human, dun always commenting on sum1, r u sure if 1 of u be n their place, u could make no casualty?? if u guys just know how 2 talk than do,so jus same wif our counterpart in other poor developing country and we will never grow up to be a develop country.. plz… dun tell cox here.. by being in PLKN they learn new things n dats cannot be earn in anywhere else.

  18. My dear Doctor

    No…I am not furious.

I am just looking at the statistic, my dear doctor.

22 deaths in just less than 4 years sound distressing to me. These can be translated to a bigger figure should our youth be put into the real battle, right? Statistic speaks volume, yunno, especially in just analysing only.

I am unable to see the daily casualties that is happening in the National Service becos of statistic unavailability.

Allow me to pull your attention on the very few highlighted ‘negligence’ done by the health service in the country. If, Doctor, if we were to look at the statistic of negligence in the health services such as baby hand being amputated, the case is very remote. But then, why the big outcry from the Rakyat? Are you saying that the Rakyat in the Public only know how to talk than do? Are you saying negligence is acceptable such as loss of life, loss of body organ etc?

Should I sympathise like you or empathise on this National Service?

  19. i think it’s great that kids from all walks of life get to mingle for 6 months. you don’t get many opportunities to be bunkmates with someone coming from another part of the country, or come from a household that lives on a budget 10x less (or more) than yours. it sucks seeing kids dying but hey if someone could do a study on the decline in road accidents since locking up these 17-18 year olds for 6 months of the year, the results might prove to be a pleasant surprise.

all jokes aside, i honestly believe having interactions like what one experiences through NS would not only impart the thought that there is another soul who calls himself malaysian beyond them paddy fields or that skycraper clad view , but to also know who they are face to face.

  20. Aiyoh doctor,

recently one minister did said want to teach sex education in this national service. Now, you think only here can learn sex education? how you explain the past generation learn their sex education?

i no talk cox with you, ok. you see i grew up well but never go to this PLKN. You think by not going to this PLKN, I cannot grow up? If I did not grow up because I did not go to PLKN, then, I think you also did not grow up. PLKN only start in 2004.

Aiyah, simple lah doctor. Next time, you sick and the doctor wrongly prescribe medicine to you and say, you become blind because of wrong medicine, is it okay? Like you said, doctor also human. Also make mistake. Can accept or not, doctor?

Or must I give you more extreme example. Blind, you still alive but what happen if the wrong medicine make you die. You forgive the mistake in the next world?

Or I tell you like this, the doctor give wrong medicine to your child and your child die. You as a parent forgive the doctor who give wrong medicine because doctor also human and make mistake?

Now, you advise me? Must I go to PLKN to learn that human make mistake like loss of life is acceptable because to grow up, we have to accept this type of mistake?

Do you think accepting this type of mistake can make a country develop better?

  21. How would Najib feel if it was any of his children or niece or nephew was a victim? Will he pass it off as in the interest of the nation?

So he says that all unfair deaths are in the interest of national unity. Let me tell him that I will refuse to send my child to NS under the cirmcumstances. I’d rather go to jail.

And one more thing, Najib. Only a percentage of the 18-year-olds are selected for NS. So the 3/4 of the number don’t know what’s loyalty? The reason does not make sense.

It’s all about the annual RM400m for cronies to spend and make money.

I guess onloy when BN is blasted using a C4 will NS be buried for good. Watch out, Barisan.

    Ex-serviceman

  22. najib memang mcm gampang!

  23. to,
    doctor,
i dont know wish blogs you wrote the same thing regarding this kids dying and you was whack trou left and rights by blogger.

My question for you and i hope you can anwser.
1.Do you or someone you knows have any investment return from this hell camp.
2.Are you the genuine doctor? because a doctors proffession is to save life althou the patient is in dead row.
3.Are you the one people call mercy killer doctor?

Rajraman666.YOU DOCTOR SHOULD FACE THE DEVIL999 AND ANWSER TO YOUR SO CALL MERCY KILLING..

  24. I don’t recall reading any minister’s child in the NS training. If Najib’s kid dies during a NS training if ever his kid have attended ,wonder what he will say. Those parents who lost their kid in the NS training would never have thought that their kid will come back in a death bag ,the pain and sorrow will be unthinkable. Najib does not give a damn about these deaths.Loyalty to the country cannot be measured with the deaths of the trainees. The NS should be abolished or suspended at the least to investigate and upgrade the service provided in all the camps. Those BN cronies having contracts with regards to NS should be audited and investigated for the level of service provided.

  25. Noel,

    I agree with your views.

    On the other hand, can we do some comparison;

During the past 3.5 years, how many deaths occur in a real ARMY training camp? I mean those recruits under training to be in the ARMY? Those recruits that really undergoes real training to be an army personnel? Those recruits who undergoes real physical training and are paid allowances to be in the army. Do you have any statistics on death occurs during the past 3.5 years compared to the present PLKN so called ‘get together’ incepted in 2004?

Now, don’t you think the NUMBER of deaths occurred in PLKN ’so called’ get together are alarming? Are you saying that since the percentage figure is small, we can ignore it?

  26. I strongly urge everyone who read this to forward to at least 5 friends in your email immediately.

And then ask them to forward to another 5 friends.

Do this, and you will save future young lives.

    Please do your part.

  27. Parents entrust their sons/daughters to the government (ministry of defence) for NS training and would expect the safety aspect of the NS training to be adhered to at all time by the trainers and officers in charge of NS training.

Hence, all the parents want from the govt is the accountability of the training death: assurance that the death cases during NS training are properly and thoroughly investigated (preferably by independent committee of inquiry) to determine the cause of death and also to enable us to take all the necessary measures so that what can be prevented will not happen again.

If there is negligence found by those in charge of these trainees and those who do not adhere or comply to the operating procedure during NS training, then Attorney-General’s Chambers should proceed with criminal charges against these officers.

    ……..
    Training Safety
    …….
There are three fundamentals that drive this safety system.
    (1) First, safety management receives attention at the highest level.
    (2) Second, we resource it adequately, and
    (3) third, there are open reporting and tracking mechanisms in place, as Mr Hawazi alluded to.
    ………
As a result of these systemic efforts, the number of overall training incidents has decreased. Members have asked for an update, let me give some figures. It has decreased from 111 in work year 2004 to more than half, 55 for the current work year, as of January 07. Ms Indranee Rajah asked for hot spots, what the common types of injuries are. Analysis of trends had indicated that the common types of injuries are heat-related injuries or fractures suffered during physical or field training. And we have taken precautionary safety measures and it has a declining trend for both of these injuries over the past three years.
Members have asked for the number of fatalities over the last three years. Let me give figures. In 2004, there was one death, due to training or operations and there were four in 2005. This work year, there has been one fatality during special operations training. Each loss of life in training is one too many. We will do our utmost to ensure that none occur but unfortunately, from time to time fatal incidents can occur.

We will not let up in our quest to achieve zero fatalities, and the SAF remains committed to strengthening its safety system through regular or targeted reviews based on trends of incidents and injuries. For example, we commissioned a review of special operations training last year. We are implementing the recommendations which have included rigorous formal instructor preparation courses, independent assessments of safety structures and features for special ops training, and devoting more supervisory, medical and safety resources for special ops units. And these measures will enable us to better manage the risks of special ops training.

  28. yea gud point there,im not getting any penny of NS. if we jus keep blaming so till when this stuff gonna end? i read abot NS death in wikipedia recently from 1st death till now n apparently the death not bcoz of accident tht we cant prevent but all is preventable if all NS camp r equipped wif doctor or actually the trainee directly send to hospital after they start having symptoms. i read 1 of cases of difficulty breathing n then have febrile fever 4 1 weeks, this can be of underlying disease mayB TB, pneumonia, dengue fever also can be a cause n lots so i guess the camp shud not treat thus jus by paramedic in camp since camp is not hosp n not equip wif CBC or for blood culture. . i guess thts all the NS lacking now, THE HEALTH CODE for sick trainee…other than tht i guess it’s still ok since it jus few years back this programme started n need 2 improve.

  29. Don’t throw statistics at our faces - not at those poor families that have lost their young at these irrelevant NS camps. We don’t seem to hear of any sons or daugthers of any datuk’s or datin’s joining these camps. I’m sure we’d know because we know how these people like to hog the limelight! DO they get specail treatment - that their names are not even include in the list for selection. That seems very very likely & probable given our way of doing business.

The things the authorities wish to accomplish in these camps can be easily achieved via the education system, which currently is in adeplorable condition - what with teachers that lack the dedication & initiative & the ability to do any thinking process! If the teachers cannot provide a proper role model, how do we expect to inculcate the values in 3 short months.

Maybe we can use the money spent on these NS to build more universities instead.

  30. Najib’s a twat lah. he’s always been one. if human life is reduced to numbers, you cant expect him to respect anyone - and he doesnt deserve any respect from anyone else.
