Mahathir breached OSA? And video clips vs. semen-soaked mattresses

Polytikus reminded me that the Lingam report should be under OSA presently - can anyone confirm or refute this?

Because if it is, our ex-PM has just admitted to have breached that unjust law which has served him well in the past.

As someone who has been arrested under suspicion of violating the OSA, I most certainly hope justice and a lack of double standards will prevail.

One of Mahathir’s most enduring traits these days is also incredulity. theSun:

Former Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad today alleged that the report of the Royal Commission into the Lingam tape affair, was aimed at incriminating him. “Every attempt is made in order to incriminate me,” said Mahathir who claimed he had read extracts of the report.

“Somehow or other, they are trying to suggest that the appointment of judges was influenced by a lot of other people, and although there is no direct connection with me, if you read between the lines, it suggests that the Prime Minister is biased and things like that,” he said.

I don’t think there is any need to read between the lines - the tape, now judged to be authentic in every way, very clearly implicates TDM.

Mahathir alleged this was former deputy prime minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s doing as he (Anwar) had purposefully exposed the tape to undermine lawyer Datuk V.K.Lingam’s credibility.

“Lingam happens to be my lawyer. He is defending me against Anwar, and now, he (Anwar) has succeeded in making Lingam no longer credible, and therefore, he cannot defend me in the court of law,” he told reporters after taking part in a Look East Policy forum today.

“So to that point, he has achieved great success but I have always emphasised, when people make such recordings secretly, the intention is to blackmail. I’m afraid the government made successful the blackmail attempt,” he lamented.

Interestingly, there is less outright denial, and more attempts to shoot the messenger. For most of the public, who gives two hoots about Anwar’s suit against Mahathir and Lingam’s role in that? We’re talking about nothing less than the independence of the judiciary as a whole!

Only Abdullah’s gang has any real motive to want to blackmail Mahathir. The parties who released the clip did so to expose corruption and seek justice.

Mahathir also alleged that Anwar, who is PKR adviser and defacto Pakatan Rakyat leader, had tampered with the evidence – the video – as he had released the tape in two parts.

“This constitutes tampering of evidence. We don’t know what he kept behind and how many small tapes he has.Of course this will be used in time to blackmail and of course the moment I say this, Anwar must be thinking ‘I must sue him for another RM100 million’.

“I can’t pay RM100 million if I’m found guilty. But if I have to go to jail, I’ll go to jail, if I’m to be made a bankrupt, I’ll be a bankrupt. That’s alright,” Mahathir said

The clips were released in the manner according to the source’s wishes and with respect to their fears and concerns. Tampering with evidence? Try tampering with one of the three pillars of a democratic, just and civilised government.

And trying to play boo-hoo victim to Anwar because he released a clip? Why am I suddenly thinking of “semen-soaked” mattresses?

No one cares about how much money TDM has to pay. What we want is justice for past wrongs, and the restoration of integrity to our judiciary.

  1. Man, this TDN has gone senile. He is scared to death of his past wrong doings. He is firing shots to save his ass. He has already disgraced himself with his big mouth. He has no moral ground to comment on anyone. Another example of the brain dead UMNO goons.

  2. Why do the media continue to giv Mahathir airspace? He doesn’t deserve it, since all he can do is continue to pollute it with his lethal mental poison.

  3. Good TDM is going in for good but prior to that he has got a lot of explanation to do. He made the judiciary and the law of this country a slapstick. I hope this outcome will expose the truth that had been burried and justice marooned.

  5. Abdulah strenghtening position. Mahathir and piece of shit no hope now.

  6. One cannot be impressed with the pettiness of Mahathir’s thoughts speaking out on the videotape to blackmail him. A statesman, if he is, should vanquished that attempt just by his visibility in truth.

Asides, the independence of Malaysian judiciary, at this point of time, even though desired, is a worrying factor. An independent judiciary would be as powerful as the executive branch, with less to worry on. It would be a powerful body courted by all partisan politics, and to say that it would not succumb to courting, that would be afterthoughts for many.

  10. TO me TDM never was a person with strong credentials even during his time as a leader simply because of his ultra malayness who wanted to be more malay than a malay.Little did he realize that he was literally tearing the country apart with his discriminatory policies and using the long arm of the police to surpress and oppress the people’s voices. Now he is up to his old tricks again trying to play around with his words to cover up all his wrong doings during his tenure as th PM.I dont know when will this man ever realize that he is now dealing with a much educated and mature 21st century Malaysians and stop teasing our intelligence.I may have left the country but I like all other Malaysians am eagerly waiting to see the outcome of this Lingam tape episode and see that each and every one of those culprits face the brunt of the law the same way TDM used such laws against innocent and helpless Malaysians.Truth will always prevail.GOOD LUCK MALAYSIA.
