A look into Umno’s leadership crisis
Umno “gentlemen” at their best, at the mere mention of Anwar. It’s crazy how this can be both so distressing and amusing at the same time.
I was also perplexed to see both Mahathir and Ezam still taking pot shots at Anwar based on Zionist nonsense. I suppose Mahathir is just an old man who sticks to old ways, while Ezam either doesn’t have a clue about what he’s doing, or is looking to take advantage of the Umno internal crisis.
Anyway. The poor chap in the video didn’t deserve to be treated as such, even though I hope March 8 will dispel any lingering nonsense about Anwar rejoining Umno. After all, who can blame your average Umno member whose choice of leaders are limited to lame ducks, philanderers, and octogenarians?
I try to stay away from writing that is not particularly productive, but in a self-indulgent mood, I thought to comment slightly on an area that is neither one of my expertise, nor one of particular importance, given how the ship is sinking.
From Malaysiakini’s coverage yesterday, we note Mahathir sending a few mild abandoning Najib signals.
I suppose it means that the old man is tired of Najib’s famous wait and see attitude. Notoriously noncommittal (some would say cowardly and unprincipled), I remember hearing that Najib has played kingmaker before simply by waiting to the very last minute before declaring his allegiance.
Mahathir, obviously, isn’t the type of guy to have any truck with this wimpy behaviour. Mukhriz said something like he’ll support Najib for President IF he decides to challenge, which basically makes the same point.
I suppose Najib dreams that with patience, he can ride out the storm, and succeed the throne in due time. Others perhaps feel that all he’ll inherit by then is the Opposition Leader’s post.
Then of course there is the magic Altantuya case file - Abdullah’s trump card.
Ku Li? Well, what better reminder is there that a sitting Umno president has never been unseated. I also think of people like America’s John Edwards - having failed once before…
If the anti-Pak Lah faction unites, they may make some leeway, but no one can tell how much - or how much will be lost by the time the fight is done.
As I said, in the last two major Umno crises, while they fought, it was everyone else who suffered, got locked up, etc. I won’t put that sort of thing beyond the present leaders, but they better be aware that they’ll have some fight on their hands - nationally and internationally - if they try any funny stuff.

Where are all the good Umno leaders? Is there such a thing?
Well, perhaps it’s too idealist of me to say so, but perhaps, when the rot penetrates so deep, such a party attracts only the bottom-feeding sycophants. Who with even the slightest modicum of principle can tolerate the massive abuses of power Umno has witnessed in recent years?
Looking at the crowd in the video, I think it’s safe to say that there’s not a whole lot of good left in the party. That which runs on hate will only last so long.
My sincere hope is that what little good remains will slowly realise that the Pakatan parties will protect all things Malay, as it protects all things Malaysian.
Borrowing from John, the country is not a pie to be divided up - it is a tree that, tended well, will continuously bear good fruits to nourish all the rakyat.
Once the only people that matter in Umno (ie, those with some integrity; no one cares about the opportunists) see this, the country can begin the healing process.

such civility. amazing…
i feel so sorry for the poor dude. and look at how a couple of flers in front were laughing. lol. ah umno. hooligans through and through.
Some people have no face. God the Almighty. Today Ezam blames Anwar, praises Mahatir? No. My ears and eyes can’t buy that even though The Star said last year that Ezam was leaving PKR after he failed to dislodge Azmin Ali.
Someone sent me this video where Ezam (I don’t know if he is the same Ezam or another one, cofirm pliz). Here he reduces Maharir to shreds. Gosh! On other hand, Anwar is the only medicine for Malaysia and god-sent. Wow!

Discrimination69,
Can anyone tell me if the cleanest Minister in PM’s Department in charge of the lucrative EPU portfolio ,
( Mr.Amirsham of Maybank ) is an UMNO member?
If not has BN changed their policy to allow a non UMNO member to be in the BN cabinet?
Umno members by culture cant show their colors too early. Once they side the wrong camp, their whole political future and bank account is jeopardised. What we see now is just smoke, the fire is burning below. Be patient friends. What we need is more fuel and a strong wind to fan the flames, just like GE 12.
HAHA..HAHA
nat,
so insecure of you to make that comment.
I am sure that was not the only thing that occured in the meeting.
Any Malaysian who understands history, and want the best for the country would think that meeting was a good step.
The opposition has never won this much seats, ever in our nations history. There is a first time for everything.
That meeting, was not ‘ungentleman’. There was an individual there who does not share the spirit of the meeting, and his suggestion contradict the main agenda of the meeting. The right or gentleman thing for the organisers to do, is direct him out of the meeting.
He WAS NOT assaulted. He was waiting outside the venue after that insident.
It’s pretty cheap for you, and all other Anwar ball-carriers to blow this out of proportion.
Anwar is not clean, not even close. To say that he has turned over a new leaf after his inprisonment –JOKE–
Remember the PRK elections a few minutes ago?
PKR is just another version of UMNO… time is my witness.
xmen,
why should he be even “escorted” out of the meeting ?
What did the organisers actually want to hear ? How bad the present leadership is ? Thats all they wanted to hear. they wanted to apple polish Mahathir cos after 5 years his balls have lost their shine ?
Shaz should have been given an answer if indeed there is nothing to hide.
When Mahathir sacked Anwar from UMNO, no one had the guts to ask him why he did it ? And now no one is allowed to ask him why Anwar should not be allowed back.
Then dont have a F&@#ing Forum man, just do what you guys do best……………
THE CLEANEST DEPARTMENT IN THE PRIME MINISTER DEPARTMENT IS THE CLEANER’S PANTRY AREA, OTHERWISE ITS SOILED ALL OVER!
That man has guts, unfortunately, he was facing the warlords, and I don’t think we will ever seen the day that umno can discuss opinions nicely.
Me mom is wanita umno member, and she’s a great mom. She has Wan Azizah’s aura, whom I think is a wonderful, brave woman. The point is, as an umno member, she can be a bit racist, she was like, Malay will be destroy, etc, etc, ya know, the one that umno repeated over and over again. Her racism surprised me, since she’s half-chinese herself. *shrug*
So this is what u call democracy in UMNO? lol. I take my hats off to this guy he will definitely go far in politics if he joins PR.
And here comes the son.
Now the most potent virus is ‘The Letter’ (calling PM to resign) of Datuk Mukhriz Mahathir, which many claimed as synonymous to Dr Mahathir Mohamad’s letter to Tunku Abdul Rahman in 1969. Well, it’s like father like son indeed, so we better watch out this same eagerness to rule. It’s in the gene!
Well…seems that it is not “a personal letter” addressed to the PM only, but it has deliberately with skill, been allowed to spread to the rest of Umno party leaderships. If worse comes to worse it would affect the whole coalition parties too. I really see that this could no longer be a simple matter, as a “personal letter”, but a systematic plan and an attempt to destroy the PM, who has been time and again called as “the second choice” by the ex-PM (the father of the person,
who concocted The Letter).
Datuk Mukhriz has also insinuated the fear factor (just like the dictator father) in his letter. He arrogantly has written, “”If Datuk Seri (Abdullah) does not step down in the near future, I am really worried that the trust of the rakyat, especially the Malays, in Umno and BN would diminish.”
If Datuk Mukhriz so strongly believes in this fear then, I think, he himself should resign first. He is amongst all who should take equal responsibility of not only Umno, but also for the whole coalition parties of BN. Don’t just be a lone voice. Isn’t it together we stand, and divided we break? He shouldn’t play with words only, but he should also show action in order to be effective.
Better still, I think, all of the BN coalition leaders should resign and then stand fresh for an election amongst the party members. That for sure will be a true change, the new beginning for the whole of BN machinery. I am for one, the pious opposition, would give a new chance to BN. Who knows, I may cast my vote for the freshly greased BN
machinery in the next election.
