Day 1

Pretty poster eh? Pardon the link :)

So, some early casualties. I guess on the party side, there’s not much in the way of excuses for those who didn’t show up. We misplaced our trust.

Notable three corners: Lembah Pantai & Kelana Jaya.

In the latter case, sounds more like insurance. The BN candidate won his last contest uncontested. This last minute appearance I take with raised eyebrows.

In the former, while wild speculation, I would very much say insecurity. For all this mother-daughter nonsense talk, it looks like she’s pretty shaky. ‘Hindraf supporter from Kelantan’? Come on :P

In Azalina’s case, making wild speculations again, I take it as a sign of how shaky she perceived her position to be.

Speaking of which, by way of slight detour:

Rumour-mongering bloggers are cowards and a nuisance to Umno, said Pengerang MP Datuk Seri Azalina Othman.

Azalina, who is Youth and Sports Minister, said the opposition parties were using the blogs because they know that the Home Affairs Ministry was busy monitoring reports in the mainstream media.

“They think they can get away with it but it is not the case as they too are being monitored,” she said after launching the National Sports Institute satellite centre here.

I must say that nothing would please me more than to be a nuisance to Umno :)

But the bolded part? That’s the silliest thing I’ve ever heard. Do you honestly think I’m not aware I’m being monitored? Me of all people :P :)

I won’t deign to comment on the accusations against Azalina in the internet, none of my business. But looks like it shook her up pretty bad :)

And if she’s trying to be all scary? Tak jadi yo. The truth will always out!

*

Anyway, that’s the boring negative stuff. All 3 of my colleagues from DSAI’s office are safely in (with kick ass websites to boot! :)

Nik, Sim, Izzah.. and all you great candidates out there – tabik! :)

We’ll be holding the fort :)

pps- internet here crap all afternoon. yours?

  • yo, i don’t think the harapanmalaysia website is working…? at least not at 645pm, sun 24 feb!

  • ok nvm, it’s working now hahahaha :) sorry, just had to correct the earlier posting.

  • wattahack?

    Eli in also yeh!

  • Abdullah

Nat, pliz contact/phone Nurul Izzah and let her update her website/blog today and not even tomorrow. Just like Nik Nazmi did. I know she is a mother with a young baby, but now we are in a different situation.

This Shahrizat joke should be finished. Her naked Islam-Hadhari photos where she on tight jeans and a top up are in the internet, I guess. I have seen once but can’t get it now. They should be looked for and fed un her voters, the Hadharis. Shahrizat should be felled. Nothing short of victory (AMIN). Anyway, kickdefella blog has some Hadhari Islam photos of AAB and his children.

Thanks for the good job. Have less worries. Cause if BN could only get 9 seats uncontested for technical reasons, that’sa miracle and a 1st indeed.

  • int

one possible explanation for the Internet slow-ness is that all the sites are experiencing larger load than they are accustomed to. In addition to the 9 seats won uncontested, so far there have been two other casualties – dapmalaysia.org and klpos.com, both exceeded their bandwidth allocation due to overwhelming traffic.

dapmalaysia.org is back online (they moved their files to a different server, and are currently redirecting their URL). Right now klpos.com is still down.

Watch all your sites’ statistics carefully nat, and have an IT team “on-call” 24/7 if possible, and have backup hosts ready just in case.

Hello Nat, just wanted to ask who and what qualifications does Gwo Burne Loh have to run for Kelana Jaya? (apart from the Lingam scandal involvement). Does he have a blog, we want to know what he stands for, how long has he been a party member?

  • laksarian

Nat, you forgot one interesting detail.

Azalina, who is Youth and Sports Minister, said the opposition parties were using the blogs because they know that the Home Affairs Ministry was busy monitoring reports in the mainstream media.

She basically admitted loud and clear that the MSM is being controlled by the government! The open secret is no longer a secret!

  • Yes, Internet was rather slow yesterday too, but at least there were not that many disconnections on IRC so it was bad but not that bad.

Also, Pfft! Azalina is overstating the influence. Nothing more she can say that has not already been said by others. ^_^v

  • trashed

Generally, the Opposition parties should be happy that events have played out as expected.

A number of one-on-one contests pitching Davids against Goliaths in some but nonetheless, this is what democracy is about – everyone who is eligible has a chance.

Also noted are that the number of uncontested seats due to nomination day faux pas is much less than previous occassions (as far as I can recall, anyway). But that PKR canididate in Johor who did not show up should be ….

Blog readers can help expand the readership of the challengers to the non-internet readership by printing and disseminating what does not appear in the MSM. That should not take too much effort.

  • int:

Obviously I can’t speak for Nat, but last year we had a trial by fire of sorts with our sites, and hopefully Nat’s new team has learned from our experience when it comes to webhosts with shitty bandwidth/CPU usage allowances.

  • How can we donate directly to Badrul Hisham Saharin, who’s taking on Khairy in Rembau? Would love to see KJ taken down a notch.

  • Mail to us the details of ceramah before hand can arr? I need to go there and maybe take some pics for my page …. wish PKR all the best for their candidates.

Anyway, I read a proverb somewhere that says “if the other side you think is doing the wrong thing reacts in a way that criminalises you, that will most probably doing your own thing in the right way (effectively)”.

So to all bloggers, you have to keep on writing to save Malaysia.

    Regards,
