How cheaply will we let Malaysians sell their dignity?

The Star’s headline today: BN big guns roll into Penang to hand out goodies

Plausible explanations?

1. The Star is actually helping the Opposition
2. People are in fact easy to bribe
3. MCA *thinks* people are easy to bribe
(3.5. MCA cucuking their old friend Gerakan)

How else can you explain such shameless phrases like “roll into Penang” and “hand out goodies.”

If BN was a responsible government, they wouldn’t be “rolling in” anywhere to give “goodies.”

They would have provided good governance, people oriented policies and sincere service every single day they’ve been in power, and there would be no need for last-minute election gimmicks.

Roll into Penang to hand out goodies, goodness! What kind of prostitutes do they take the rakyat for??

I don’t know about you, but I’m not planning to stay quiet and let BN be rewarded for assuming that our dignity and honour sells as cheaply as theirs – spread the word!

  1. I read the story on BN big guns roll into Penang to hand out goodies. To be very frank I would say Malaysia’s government is one of the most undemocratic in a democratic country. The PM is keeps the date of election close to his chest saying it’s his call. But their actions of giving all kind of goodies indicate the election around the corner. Though we welcome every attempt by leaders to help the people it has to be consistent but what is happening now suggests that it is kind of bribery to buy votes.
The EC chairman who talks too much all the time need to have his sense to come out with clear rules, barring ministers and leaders to refrain from announcing projects and the so called goodies at least 2months before election date to have fair play with all parties going for election.

Having said this I’m sure they would never do that.

  2. It has always been this way a few weeks before a general election. This is no different from previous elections, so why are you so agitated?
If the Opposition were in power, it would also be doling out goodies before the election. This shows the behaviour of the politicians. Can you really say that the Opposition (if in power) will not be doing the shameful things that the BN leaders are doing at the moment?
The only advice you can give the people is to receive the goodies gracefully, but go out and vote Opposition.

  3. I am still voting for change, no matter what.

  4. what goodies? at what price? nothing comes free. there will always be a cost attached and costs do not simply go jump sea and dissappear. they have a way of finding their way back into our pockets.
and besides, if they (UMNO) are truly that good, why resort to such hard sell ‘promotions’? if you have to be baited and cajoled into buying, don’t bother because you can bet that it will be a lemon.
