Ta da. One Mr. Loh Mui Fah has confirmed that he was the one talking to to Lingam in the tape. He says his son videotaped it, and he doesn’t know who released the tape (still some mystery left!)
I won’t write too much, ‘cept to say, that this is news even to many of DSAI’s staff like me. It was a pretty tightly kept secret.
Of course, only Malaysiakini will tell you about the severe harassment Mr. Loh suffered at the hands of the ACA:
Explaining further the harassments he had faced since the grainy 14-minute video clip was made public by opposition party PKR last year, Loh said that officers from the Anti-Corruption Agency had been tailing him day and night.
ACA officers had once intercepted him while he was on his way to Singapore, and also visited his office and home simultaneously where they threatened to ‘take away’ Loh’s youngest son.
“I have also received threatening telephone calls… asking me to watch out and that they will finish me,” said the businessman, who was also coy on his business venture apart from saying that it involved IT and forestry.
Loh said that he had written to Prime Minister Abdullah Ahmad Badawi on Nov 5, saying that he was willing to assist in the investigations into the Lingam tape should there be an assurance that “his safety would be guaranteed”.
“But nothing happened. I have had no reply from the prime minister,” he lamented.
Loh added that he had also emailed the three-member panel formed by the government to look into the authenticity of the Lingam tape, offering to assist in their probe. Again, he added, he had not heard from them.
Tailed day and night
Last month, the ACA ‘harassment’ and threatening phone calls became so unbearable and that Loh said he lodged at least one police report.
“The intrusion into my private life was bad,” he told Malaysiakini when met at his lawyer’s plush apartment in the heart of the city.
“They hunted me day and night. They came in cars, waited for me with engines running, waiting until midnight. The security guards at my apartment can vouch for this,” he said.
“Once the ACA visited my house and my office at the same time. When they found that I wasn’t there, they harassed my youngest son and threatened to take him away,” he said.
Loh said that once while he was travelling by car to Singapore, he was intercepted in Malacca by two ACA officers.
“They wanted me to immediately return with them to their headquarters in Putrajaya to take a statement from me. I told them I will not follow them and got them to let me talk to their superior,” he said.
“I told them I can cooperate but it must be properly done, and that I am given proper notice,” he added.
Well, many of us have never been much for trusting the government to guarantee our security.
Needless to say, all of us will be following with interest.

Why the PM after receiving the letter from Loh did not act upon it? Why is he not interested to get the bottom of it?
So we knowlah..
little bird
could the letter be intercepted and didnt reach him. kept to be released at strategic time? anyway, there’s so much conspiracy theories these days. times cant separate chaff from the true stuff.
from this, we know that the ACA knew the source of the video. but why is the ACA tailing and harrasing him. the ACA has to answer this one before its reputation, which is alredi not much to speak of, goes to the dogs.
If not mistaken – this Loh Mui Fah – is Loh Kim Foh’s (of Lohman Holdings Sdn Bhd) son. There is an ongoing court battle between Kim Foh and his second wife – Wong Kim (something). Also if not wrong they used to own Seal Inc Bhd in the early 90’s. I think – only.
Wealthy people.
YH,
Also why waste time in Spain to analyze the voice, it seems. Now, we have the maker of the video and therefor the government need not waste any money by sending team to US, Hongkong or Spain.
BTW, letter got intercepted? I doubt so. I have never seen any strong words or condemnation from PM regarding the whole scandle.
Something is very wrong. I hope the police would act against all including those attempting a cover-up.
Having read the transcript of the telephone conversation dubbed “Linggamtape”, do you think the man on the other end was Loh Mui Fah and not CJ Zaki?
nat: i take it you meant to say CJ Fairuz? :)
Nat, I know this is totally off-topic, but I want to get some of your views in light of the upcoming elections : )
Please note that I am in no way criticising or casting aspersions, but merely looking for clarity on these points.
1. I have heard that DSAI made millions and millions of dollars during the time he was finance minister. I have even heard of people who say that they are holding his money in Singapore for him. What guarantee is there that DSAI is not trying to get back into power only to make more money?
2. What is PKR’s relationship with PAS at the moment? Is there a coalition, an understanding, or nothing at all?
3. I heard from a lawyer friend that at the bar council’s walk for justice at putrajaya, many keadilan members were trying to hijack the event by carrying banners that did not reflect the true reason for the walk, and photos were deliberately taken with the hundreds of lawyers in the background so as to make it look like the lawyers supported their cause. I feel that the walk would have had much more meaning had it not been turned into a joke by these keadilan and dap members. they gave the government grounds to criticise the bar council. this has really lowered my perception of the opposition. what are your views on this?
4. What is keadilan’s view on the NEP?
That is all I can think of at the moment, although there are a lot more issues bugging me.
I would really appreciate it if you could take the time to reply to this.
Thanks.
nat: thanks for questions! will answer them at length and as best as possible as soon as i get a moment! :)
