IGP: I can’t catch Nurin’s killer… so better arrest some Bersih parents
Infruriating NST front page:
The parents of 18 children detained in Saturday’s (BERSIH) illegal rally will be charged with endangering their children.
Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Musa Hassan said he had ordered his men to act against the parents.
Yeah? Next they should arrest themselves then, for completely failing to apprehend Nurin’s killer.
There’s a serial child rapist and murderer out there. Roaming free, choosing his next victim.
I think the failure of the cops to catch this murderer endangers our kids far more than anything else.
I didn’t see a single shred of proof where kids were used as human shields.
Those, as far as I am concerned, are lies and defamation.
Not everyone is as ridiculously rich as the top cops in this country (oh yes, we know how rich) to afford babysitters and the like.
Throughout the country, people saw no choice but to sacrifice so much to demand in person their most basic, fundamental rights.
They didn’t come to the Bersih rally to endanger their children, they came BECAUSE of their children.
So, Mr. Integrity-less IGP, if your trigger happy self wants to charge someone for failing to protect our kids -
Charge the government for robbing our children of billions upon billions.
Charge BN for making sure that a Chinese kid in the city can grow up his/her whole life without ever having to interact with a Malay person and vice versa.
Charge the judiciary for stand idly by while the government sucks out every last drop of decency and honour from our institutions.
You stay away from parents who had everything to lose by standing up on Saturday, and braved your big sticks and tear gas anyway.

ps- I can’t help but reproduce commentor Ricky’s brilliant point:
The parent of Nurin will be charged for not taking good care of her. Thus she was murdered.
Now the parents take their children for a peaceful walk in KL, the police is going to charge them for bringing them along.
Please mr smart ass cop, what do you want. When we leave them alone, you want to charge us and when we take along with us, you want to charge us.
Make up your mind you fools……

The way I see it, the parents brought their kids because they knew that the people attending the march will attend peacefully and in good faith.
The only reason all these problems occurred was because of the violent actions of the police. If someone has to be charged, it is the police who should be charged for endangering the childrens’ lives.
Truth to be told, if I had a kid, I would bring him/her to the march anyway. I trust MALAYSIANS not to get violent.
Now, the police on the other hand….
I can’t believe our IGP would do such a childish meaningless act like this unless he is really _______( you can fill in the blank for me, I’m lost for word)
I totally agree with you that the parents did not come to endanger their children ( its completely illogical to use your own children as shields, again only _____ people would think like that), THEY CAME BECAUSE OF THE FUTURE OF THEIR CHILDREN!
To all the parents who have braved the storm so that the voice of Malaysian was heard across the world, we salute you!
Wow. Just wow. I keep thinking, “I can’t hate my government any more than I do already,” and yet it keeps proving me wrong.
Why only parents?
Charge the entire clan!!!
Wait a sec – were there children arrested? Because, from today’s NST we have this:
And this is from that Datuk Noh Omar fler. Where there children arrested?! Got meh?
im still finding a proper photo of the IGP to be dissed in my next BERSIH Post Rally MV, which was my 3rd installment of BERSIH Rally MV’s.
Forward me his pic if any of you got them.
Cheers Nat for pimpin’ my MV in your site.
Now the kids will be “educated” about joining illegal rallies. Check out details here.

My goodness!!! How pathetic they can be???
I read the article and almost shouted to myself, “Hey, you lucky!”. Because, I had thought of bringing my children with my wife to go to the protest. So “lucky” because I did not fall victim to the stupid IGP crap. (Interestingly the only reason that we didn’t bring our son with us is because we didn’t want him to endure the long journey from Singapore to KL, not because of this IGP crap.)
But the very reason for us (the parents) to protest is simply for the sake of our children, as they will live in the future of this country that will almost certainly be so rotten that it’s doing them unjust when they grow up!!! So, who is harming our children more than the rotting BN govt now???
The next action to take is to organise a rally for *parents* only, for parents who are concerned with the future Malaysia that their children going to live in. And the parents must bring their children to “qualify” to join the rally. How about that???
[I CANNOT THINK ANYMORE HOW SILLY-CREATIVE THIS BUNCH OF PEOPLE CAN BE!]
The police should be charged for rioting. If not for them, there would be no danger.
[...] Pak Lah dan Elizabeth Wong ada menyuarakan hak sebagai rakyat. PDRM lebih baik mencari pembunuh Nurin yang masih bebas. Lebih baik daripada menghalang bangsa sendiri menyuarakan [...]
sad, sad, sad this country is not “BERSIH” anymore!!!!!
The parent of Nurin will be charged for not taking good care of her. Thus she was murdered.
Now the parents take their children for a peaceful walk in KL, the police is going to charge them for bringing them along.

[...] ish….. my parents are from malacca. if they get arrested i’ll seriously go apeshit. they’re sort of doing that now. [...]
Let’s take a look at some recent crime cases. We have heard of the Nurin case where a young 5 year old girl was kidnapped and undespicable actions were done unto her and at the end, she died. Even prior to Nurin’s funneral, the IGP wanted to investigate Nurin’s parents for negligence (NST, 22 Sept 2007, IGP: Parents under probe for negligence). Over the radio, you hear of reminders to tell you to take care of your child and not to let them loose. Why would our Malaysian radio annouce such an annoucement? They may as well annouce, “do not carry handbags because your handbags will be snatched”, “do wear body armor because there is a risk of you being slashed by criminals”, “do keep a pad lock in your underwear to prevent from being raped”, “do not give birth because your child maybe kidnapped”, etc. Why can’t our Malaysian radio announce, “Malaysians, please ask the police to do their job and restore law and order” ?
There are tonnes of other cases where young children were left out of their parents sight but their parents were not charged. Why? Is it because their children did not turn up dead with brinjals in their body and didn’t put the police in a bad spot? For instance, when Rekha (NST, 27 Oct 2007 – Ice Cream, free VCDs Use to Lure Rekha) went missing after going out to buy VCDs, did the police even say a word in the press regarding charging Rekha’s parents for negligence? No!
So why on earth in Nurin’s case did the IGP pin-point Nurin’s parents as the cause of Nurin’s death? Something is definitely not right. Rekha’s case is not only the first where the child returns to her parents and the police do not highlight that the parents would be charged!
Remember Muhammad Nazrin Shamsul Ghazali who went missing from a shopping complex? Again, in this case (NST, 16 April 2007 – Cops Arrest Mynmar `Good Samaritans’), the parents were not warned of being charged with neglecting their child.
Then the different reaction in Nurin’s case?
Hi Nat, I hope you have got yourself the recent issue of TELL magazine. It’s all about NURIN Alert. We bloggers are getting together to make this system for finding children alive into a reality. Go get your copy of TELL magazine and tell all your friend about it. We need your support.
