We have to BERSIH-kan Malaysia
hey boss you’ve got the link messed up for one of the sites! besides that good job!
What a great day for democracy, freedom and rights of the people 10 Nov. 2007 was.
The valiant Malaysian people defiantly expressed their disgust regarding the make believe democracy in Malaysia.
Election fraud must stop.
The BN charade has gone on much too long, enough is enough!
Voters need to turn out in full force at the next general election in order to give all BN component parties a hard slap in the face, by not voting for them.
The fantastic turn out of well over 50,000 yesterday was commendable, especially since many blogs were blocked, defaced or hacked, and government controlled tv, radio and print media, gave out false propaganda, misinformation and lied by announcing that the gathering had been cancelled.
Police set up road blocks and intimidating checks, illegally forced the diversion and detention of many buses loads of citizens, caused unnecessary massive traffic jams all around KL.
Despite all this fascist authoritarian bullying, the Malaysia people, to their great credit, demonstrated a wonderful example of peaceful people power.
People should not be afraid of their governments.
Governments should be afraid of their people.
V for Victory!!!
Do Not Vote for BN
In addition to the number that you could count on the ground, consider the following:
(1) how many people who wanted to join but were stuck in the hopeless miles-long traffic jam caused by the clueless police;
(2) there was a thunder storm with downpour before 3pm (and luckily it turned into drizzle eventually);
(3) the LRT transport system purposely skipped the stations that were nearest to the four meeting points (we were on Putra and the train skipped Pasar Seni and Masjid Jamek), forcing people to walk the distance in the rain.
More importantly, all who turned up had to defy the threat and fear from the police and government who wanted to deny Malaysians’ democratic right.
My wife and I actually traveled to KL all the way from Singapore where we currently worked, to show how deeply concerned we are as Malaysians!
Woww.. I can now see the flicker of hope and success in this nation. Bravo to my fellow Malaysians who walked for justice, peace and good governance. It looks like DiGi’s widest coverage but of course this one is for a bigger change. Inilah masa untuk berubah. A Fair Election, always the smarter choice!
I feel sorry for my friends stuck in the NST and Star. What a shit job to be an editor/program head in the mainstream media. Forced to swallow their bosses’ smelly shit - and the BN crap from the mass media will just get worse and worse as their fear factor increases - until they gag on their own filth. SYABAS, BERSIH. The 10 Nov March was brilliantly strategized. Next time I hope the cops will join us and dance in the streets to celebrate the end of the Dark Age of BN misrule.
Truly a great day for people who believe in democracy but a sad day for media freedom when they have to succumb to
government pressure. Something that cannot be sidelined is downplayed into insignificance.
Good thing the news on intl channels and the blogs carried minute-by-minute reports. We need citizen journalists to counter the media blackout and control by the government.
Finally, more Malaysians realize the real definition of democracy and having themselves to speak out what really matters the most. Don’t stop cos you know you did a right thing.
[...] On Saturday, even the govt mainstream papers had to put the number of attendees at 4,000 - still a ridiculously low number; most other sources put the figure at 10,000-40,000 people. Look at the pictures yourself. [...]
The massive turnout for Bersih Rally on NOV 10 makes me proud to be Malaysian! The biggest public rally in Malaysia for over a decade. The Government’s fear tactics failed to stop concerned Malaysians from exercising our basic rights! Pak Lah, what does it say about your government when it tries to stop it’s rakyat from asking for Clean & Fair elections? Yes, we are a peaceful nation but you and your government acted like Beruks(monkeys) on Saturday for the whole world to see!
My dear fellow Malaysians who were too afraid to come out on Saturday - Do not let the government cripple your minds with fear. We need to be brave and stand-up for the future of Malaysia. If we act like we do not belong here and this is someone elses problem then we’re no better than a bunch of refugees.
Politicians come and go (to 10m dollar houses in Perth) but this is Our country forever ! Don’t let the government treat us with any less respect than that of 1st class citizens of this country!
when they reported the 20% inflation as 2%…. u dont expect them to count… do u?
