Pak Lah fervently in favour of keris waving

The one man supposedly free from the keris taint seems all to eager to finally jump on the bandwagon.

Malaysiakini diligently reports:

“The act of unsheathing and kissing a keris is part of our cultural heritage but its meaning has been twisted to spread fear among non-Malays, and the image of Umno and Malaysia has been smeared overseas,” Abdullah, clad in a traditional bright orange baju melayu, said.

“Keris is a weapon, but it is a weapon to protect yourself and your friends,”

Ah, but the question is of course, Mr. Prime Minister: who are Umno’s friends, and who are their enemies?

I’ll admit that Abdullah’s team generally does a decent job of keeping him above the fray. But at the Umno Gen Ass, you can expect all true colours to show. The man may have all sorts of moderate, fuzzy wuzzy spin, but when push comes to shove, then well… shove comes to keris.

I’ll bet my bottom dollar that it’s impossible that these 3 days go by without Umno making unfriendly references to non-Malays and the like. It’s just doesn’t make sense for them not to, if one is a party built around defending only Malay interests.

But is Umno alone in this?

(PM:) “I believe that similar extremist sentiments are voiced by members of political parties that represent other communities.”

Of course they are, because the same logic applies across MCA, MIC, etc.

In short, an eternity of Malaysia led by these parties means an eternity of racial division in Malaysia.

Are we going to sit by and let that happen?

Or are we going to make November 10th a day to remember?
