Sunday’s NST front page features something about 92 dirty lawyers.
Potentially oversensitive that I am, and given that this is the NST this raises a number of possibly far-fetched questions.
Is the NST out to vilify lawyers after 2,000 stood up to defend and uphold justice?
Well, that’s the least friendly interpretation.
I confess I find it hard to imagine that the NST is actually highlighting the rot in the entire judicial system – especially since no reference was made to problems of the judiciary, only to bad, cheating lawyers.
92 of them in fact, while nothing of the 1 lawyer whose antics have been the centre of the controversy.
Anyway, I won’t speculate too much. But I will confess I did raise an eyebrow or two.

Spent most of the day at DSAI’s open house. Met a lot of good people, fun and games!
During a press conference (you should have seen how hard it was to squeeze the press in in between greeting well wishers), he reminded us that neither VK Lingam nor Tun Fairuz have issued a denial from their own mouths regarding this tape.
His point was that the authenticity of the tape only comes into question if and when these two individuals deny forthright what is said in the tape – short of that, you could almost say that the onus is on the two, not on the whistleblowers.
Anyway, I wouldn’t be surprised if all doubts as to the authenticity are soon blown away anyhow. Let’s hope!

is the lingam fella included in the list? sorry, have stopped reading nasty pee group’s publications since they violated all journalism norms with the suit agianst rocky and jeff ooi.
I couldn’t help but feel the same way when I read that article in the NST. What was the game-plan, here? What was the purpose in highlighting such errant lawyers? And how far will this go in discrediting the Bar Council (and their efforts)?
I just can’t help but feel that the government has begun making its move. That’s not all: do you notice how fast the government responds to any scandal? They don’t just respond – they respond with a concerted plan of action. And that makes me wonder just how many hundreds of manhours these flers put into thinking of responses..
