1,000 Gerakan & MCA members leave their parties?
The newspaper had reported that the 1,000 Barisan Nasional members had left the component parties to join Parti Keadilan Rakyat because they were unhappy over a carpark issue in Rifle Range.
Remind you of anything?
Perhaps ‘hundreds’ of KeADILan members in Shah Alam or Nalla’s tens of thousands?
I’ll be the first to caution against arbitrary numbers. I won’t seek to inflict upon opponents the same injustices inflicted upon us.
Nonetheless, I believe there is some fire producing this smoke (we can always inspect the incoming KeADILan membership forms soon enough).
After all, we need only look at the trends.
Not so long ago, there was Rawang – 115 MCA members went all the way to the top to see Ong Ka Ting about the HTZ power lines running through their homes. The result?
Upon leaving the meeting, all of them took out their membership cards, and cut them up.
If Gerakan doesn’t want to see their own support end up like the shreds of cards on the MCA floor, it might be best to start thinking out of the box.
I was reminded of the tenuous situation in Penang, and how Umno maintains dominance as the biggest BN component by dividing the Chinese seats almost equally between MCA and Gerakan so neither party is bigger than Umno in Penang – sneaky, sneaky!
The brave island state is slipping slowly out of their hands. A huge Chinese swing against the government, and Umno continuously agitating for the Chief Ministership… Gerakan might be looking at a complete wipe out, at this rate.
If I were in Gerakan, I’d really start considering my options for meaningful, principled survival – especially in Penang.

On a lighter note, I didn’t title my Malaysiakini article “Tsu Koon time for you to get rid of abusive husband” :P :) Mine was much less sensational, something like: Gerakan – Be Great Again.
Pretty funny though :)
