High Court throws out my remand review

The High Court decided not to review my remand, deciding that the matter was academic and that any judgment it made “tidak akan membawa apa-apa kesan.”

I couldn’t disagree more, Yang Arif. The last thing this review is is academic.

What we were trying to do was to set a precedent that will stop the police from kidnapping clearly innocent citizens, and using monkey tricks to deny arrestees their right to confer with legal counsel.

I’m disappointed, if not terribly surprised.

Thanks to lawyers Siva and Amer Hamzah for their work though. We will be taking the matter to the Court of Appeal.

  2. what do you expect from the judiciary these days? its like putting aside your rights for convenience sake! and thats one of the reasons why the judiciary has lost so much goodwill and respect.
Nat, despite my more advanced age, I have great respect for a fighter like you. God bless you and your family always.

  7. “tidak akan membawa apa-apa kesan.” – so shallow. myopic. and supposed to be learned.

sigh* i felt so sad am lost for words.

tks nat for fighting for justice.

  8. To say this unfair intrusion is “academic” is to allow future brutality by the campus police. The security force can now search, beat up, bully students all in the name of “academic affairs,” while the law stand by looking impotent as they are. What a joke your law has become.
