Terengganu Truth: The Bigger Picture

Let’s contextualise the violence.

1. Was this planned?

a)
Nik has one of the most damning pieces of evidence:

Beberapa hari lepas saya menerima panggilan dari seorang rakan. Beliau bertanyakan sama ada saya hadir di Ceramah Bersih [di Kuala Terengganu]. Saya menjawab tak hadir.

Rakan saya tersebut memaklumkan persediaan polis Terengganu cukup tinggi, dan mereka bersedia dengan pasukan FRU. “Sesuatu akan berlaku,” kata rakan saya tersebut, yang meskipun berbeza mazhab politik, tetapi prihatin.

They knew this was coming. Nik told me who this guy was, and trust me, he’s in a position to know.

b)
Dato’ Mustafa Ali of PAS has a similar story from a different source. Via Harakah:

c)
Did you notice how the BN goons (esp Najib) seemed to have a quick response at a ready?…

2. If this was planned, why Kuala Terengganu, and why now?

a)
Ceramahs that are undisturbed by the police are invariably calm affairs, no matter how big – especially those organised by NGOs like BERSIH. It’s nothing major at all, similar ones are held all over the country, all the time.

The answer to why no dawned upon us while we were thinking about the party’s response to the matter.

Some of us were thinking that there’s so much frustration going around among Opposition supporters that a peaceful, mass sit-in type of rally might be just the thing.

But, it’s Ramadhan.

Rallies would be totally inappropriate, and understandably so.

Coincidence? I think not.

b)
Terengganu is in many ways a frontline state.

If Abdullah wins Kelantan, his legacy is secured. If he loses Terengganu, Najib is likely to go for his neck.

Word is, Umno Terengganu = very jittery.

Once again, notice how there are no longer any Mat Rempits terrorising the streets of KL on a weekend night? They disappeared right around the time that you need to register to vote in order to get on an electoral roll.

c)
This is very important: What else came out this weekend? The Auditor General’s report.

Did you see how rottenly atrocious and deeply set the rot of corruption has taken root in this country?

The Auditor General’s report was as damning as they come. Instances upon instances of billions of the rakyat’s money might as well have been burnt in one huge bonfire.

Instead, the mainstream media has worked its butt off to distract the public with pictures of (a probably SB planted) teeny bonfire in Kuala Terengganu.

(note: all photos in the media should be scrutinised, and the angle from which they were taken investigated to shed some light on their source. One famous one repeatedly shown is clearly taken from behind FRU lines).

So behold! The rakyat’s attention is grabbed away from the excesses and murderous wastage perpetrated by the government by this scandalous affair in Terengganu.

3. Is there a pattern?

a)
Ijok was the best example of how Umno would with one hand let loose the worst kind of samseng and gangsters in their campaign, and on the other, accuse KeADILan of being rabble rousers.

Painting the Opposition as havoc wreaking people has always been a favourite.

I already wrote about how The Star prostituted itself by perpetrating this myth of the unruly Opposition in order to raise the sceptre of riots – the only hope MCA has of retaining any of its seats. (Hizami had a brilliant reply to this :)

In the Chinese papers, PAS is the one demonised.

The NST, shameless liars that they are, have on two occasions already printed outright that KeADILan organised the ceramah.

Bald faced lies. The ceramah was organised by BERSIH.

A clearer lie I cannot possibly imagine. We’ll be seeing them in court.

b)
BN still can only hope to thrive if Malaysian society is divided.

Observe: although the Melaka pig farmers have been there for years, the authorities’ solution to the conflict was not gradual or phase by phase, but more one of sending in shock troopers in some blitzkrieg fashion. (PAS’ Datuk Husam Musa wrote quite reasonably on this issue, providing some badly needed voice of reason)

On the animal front, further polarisation can be seen in this Selayang dog catching competition.

As I wrote before, this is the continuing conspiracy to divide and rule – think Islamic state issue, syariah/common law, makkal osai “versus” Christians, etc. At each step, there has been a political motivation.

Now they are seeking to polarise and alienate the Opposition from the people, and harden the battle lines.

We’re not going to fall for it, and neither are the people.

4. What are the other fishy things going on?

a)
Firstly, the police can’t get their story straight. Don’t know how many shots fired never mind (isn’t it a simple don’t-need-to-be-CSI matter to count the number of bullets missing??), can’t even properly ascertain which cop fired them :|

Datuk Husam also had something to say about the hampers that the police sent to one of the gunshot victims.

If the Terengganu police chief’s story is right about protecting others (gag), and the cop being attacked by others, etc, then why on earth would the police send the victim a hamper??

b)
I still can’t get over this Molotov cocktails thing.

DS Anwar has gone up and down the country to speak, thousands if not tens of thousands at every venue.

Not only did nobody bring Molotov cocktails, there wasn’t a single incident of violence.

You’re telling me a group of less than a 1000 people planned to go crazy at a BERSIH ceramah in Pantai Batu Buruk? :|

Mind you, ceramahs have been held many, may times before at this same spot in Pantai Batu Buruk. Only now the police decide to start acting funny? (see 1.b) again).

I’m really proud of how the blogosphere has once again showed itself to be a level playing ground where people can seek out the real truth on an equal footing. Great work guys!

I’m glad bloggers and netizens have been concerned, and they care about these two poor guys who were forced to bear the full brunt of police brutality.

Lots of people have written really brilliant things, and I wish I could list them all out. I may yet, Insyallah.

Alright for now. Please do think these things over carefully, and observe the facts closely.

  1. wat kind of super fabricated propaganda is this?
    “sesuatu akan berlaku”????
oi, stop thinking of super conspiracy theories.
BERSIH had no permit. IT WAS AN ILLEGAL ceramah.
pkr is violent, who sat on a car to blok najib in ijok, very mature.
observe the facts closely, your analytical skills r so POOR, u sure u went to the real harvard..the ivy league n not something next door like harvard institute for the harvard wannabes?
can’t even write a proper well-argued ‘analysis’….stop fabricating foreknowledge la

  2. Any help from Zainah Anwar :

  3. Nightmare, then come out with your own theories.

This post makes a lot of sense, though like everything in the bloggerspehere I tend to take it with a pinch of salt. Still, it provides an alternative view and links to news that can’t be found in mainstream media.

There have been many illegal ceramahs before this, Nightmare. Why should this have been any different?

  4. thanks pat :)

i take everything i read on the blogosphere w/a pinch of salt too! :D

  5. Its timely that HRH The Agong of Malaysia institutes an independent enquiry into this, only then will there be some credibilty to the outcome of the enquiry.
All manner of such brutality should be abhorred and such acts can never be condoned.
How come live bullets were used, normally only blanks are fired to disperse the crowds? So many unanswered questions!!
Ofcourse we will be given another cover up version, saying that the Opposition are running scared, hence the need for such action, yet many of us can read between the lines or shall we say beneath the lies !!!
We do hope that His Royal Highness the Sultan of Terengganu will intervene in this issue as His subjects are involved in this.
    DAULAT TUANKU!

  6. nightmare is sooo jealous of nat and has pretty crappy spelling too. you must be part of cibai i mean cyber troopers! welcome!

    hidup nat! :)

  7. If only Malaysians can read this… If only..

  8. 1) Incidents in IJOK
    (a) PKR supporters stoned a bus and blocked it from moving claiming illegal voters were inside the bus. Well, were there? I do not know. What I know is stoning a bus is not civilized behaviour.
    (b) PKR supporters mobbed and blocked Najib’s car, putting flower pots on the road to impede the path of his car.
    (c) The throwing of bottles during nomination day. Bottles were thrown by BOTH sides. Regardless of whether UMNO started it, shouldn’t PKR supporters not engage in the same acts?

    2) Comments
    (a) Nik’s information, could be true. But hindsight is 20/20 isn’t it?
    (b) BN goons. People in BN are human too. Stop stereotyping them.
    (c) No more Mat rempits terrorising KL? Err, a few days ago just saw them all camping near Bulatan Pahang.
    (d) “BERSIH is a joint committee comprising civil society organisations and political parties” – PKR is one of the political parties, no?
    (e) “think Islamic state issue, syariah/common law, makkal osai “versus” Christians, etc.” – the same can be said of PAS and the ex-ABIM, ex-UMNO people in PKR. Don’t you think the reason UMNO is becoming more religious is because they want to beat PAS at their own game. What does that make PAS?

Yeah and stop with the cyber troopers insinuation, where’s the proof? Now where’s my RM2700 pay check.

  9. yeah, i am so jealous of nat.
when i grow up, i want to be a TRAITOR too!

  10. yeay! be like nat! i’m glad you finally admitted you’re jealous. and thanks for the better spelling this round :)

and i most certainly hope you ‘grow up’ soon! good luck! :)

  11. Too many nightmares cause one to grow old without growing up. :P
