I really can’t help but think, TS Zaki Tun Azmi is lucky that his ‘national service’ doesn’t come with the risk of death. Mohd Rafi wasn’t so lucky.
There are also a lot more irregularities with regard to his appointment. His extremely close ties to Umno chief among them.
An experienced politician that I trust had good things to say about TS Zaki, opining that he’s relatively decent. This is all well and good, but I still feel this appointment casts a multitude of aspersions on the integrity of our justice system at a time when it is already dangerously suspect.
Speaking of integrity and national service, did anyone see the front page of Utusan Malaysia today?
There was this terrible, terrible combination.
One, it had an exhortation by PM Dollah on personal integrity.
He thinks he still has this ridiculous nice guy image about him, but millions must be rolling their eyes. This gap between truth and spin is reaching V for Vendetta levels.
Two, it had a massive picture of ‘happy’ National Service trainees graduating. I felt so insulted. How would Mohd. Rafi’s family (or what remains of it) feel about this? How can you celebrate an institution in the media which has just ‘celebrated’ its 13th death?!
13 lives lost, and Utusan is being used as a lapdog to spin it as hunky dory.

Looks like UMNO is finally going on the open to
control the judiciary. Im not surprised if Zaki were
to be made the next Chief Justice which will then mean a full say on appointment and promotion of judges and determination of cases. Separation of power will now slowly disappear.
For the record.Its not merely a question of he a member of the Bar but a legal adviser of a ruling party that have a reputation to interfere in judicial process and loaded with abuse of power and exploitation of judicial process for the last 50 years.
The judiciary is a public office that belongs to the
people and guarded by public confidence and perception
