Zam: theSun’s relentless crusades make it Nathaniel Tan’s mouthpiece?

Being BOTH young and KeADILan, guess that’s my Freespace column dreams chucked out the window :P :) (c’mon, show ‘em you don’t care! :)

Nik wisely opined that the Zam crusade against theSun is to hit back ‘on behalf’ of people like Khir Toyo and his corrupt gang who’ve robbed Selangor dry.

Zam is apparently trying to make headway in the upcoming Umno elections, and if he steps in to hantam the paper that has done more than any other to expose Umno Selangor for the ruthless thieving bandits that they are, he imagines he can score some easy points with them.

How to demonise theSun? Well he’s obviously not stupid enough to (almost never thought I’d say “Zam’s not stupid enough to…”) try and refute their claims, as you can’t deny the truth, so he descends into the name-calling he is increasingly popular for.

Will voters fall for it?

That’s up to you and me, and whether we can do our part in expanding the circle of truth.

Let’s look at theSun’s excellent piece ripping apart MBPJ’s abuse of its ‘football club.’ (titled “ACA on the ball” – haha, geddit geddit?? :)

While the money in the sports club or the Kelab Sukan and Kebudayaan MPPJ as it is officially known, has been traced and accounted for, there are little or no records of the millions in “donations” to the “football team”.

Documents made available to theSun show scores of offers to outdoor advertising firms to “donate” to the club in exchange for advertising rights.

The documents also show that at least one cheque for RM300,000 was sent directly to councillor Capt Datuk Zahar Hashim and was received by Aznan Hassan, who is head of welfare services and also the head-honcho of the football team.

Another cheque for RM150,000 was addressed to the council and also received by Aznan. Both cheques were crossed and made payable to “Pasukan Bolasepak MPPJ”.

These sources of income to the club were not in the records which were circulated to club members, all of whom are council staff.

Over the past three years, theSun had exposed and reported on MBPJ’s questionable conduct in approving billboard advertising rights in return for “contributions” to the sports club.

There is a letter of demand from an outdoor advertising company, Seni Jaya Sdn Bhd and legal action is pending on non-performance and the return of over RM2 million paid for exclusive advertising rights.

Against this backdrop, a senior officer appeared at a finance meeting of the council disclosing the club’s debts amounting to more than RM2 million.

Unless the damned football club is MU standard or something, this is clearly, beyond a shadow of doubt, a money laundering operation.

theSun takes so much trouble over 3 years to expose the rot and vicious robbery perpetrated by these crooks, and then?

They get called opposition mouthpieces :|

That nevermind, he also accuses theSun of giving too much voice to the young :| :|

How many voting blocks does he want to alienate? At least he should learn from our No. 2 Ladies Man (yes, the one with blood on his hands).

Even many older people I’ve met are placing all their hopes on the young, and I intend to see that their trust is not misplaced.

theSun’s commitment to young voices is admirable. I won’t say Freespace is perfect, but hot damn, there’s nothing remotely similar to it out in the print world.

Check out Bolehland columnist Fahmi Fadzil’s most recent great piece for one, about being change.

Sigh. When Khairy does this sort of thing you see a malignant genius-wannabe in the background of his mind. When Zam does… I dunno, could be savvy political calculations as Nik says, but such sophistication just seems so…………… beyond the blur guy. *shrugs*
