Ong Ka Ting Condemns Chinese to Eternity of 2nd Class Citizenship
DS Ong: Beh hiau pai seh ah lu? (Don’t know how to shy ar?)
The attitude of MCA and its president can only be called at best the height of short-sightedness, and at worst cowardice that will perpetuate racial discrimination forever.
theSun:
MCA president Datuk Seri Ong ka Ting yesterday called on party members to stop criticising some statements made during the Umno general assembly last year. He said they must accept this reality because there were no other Malay-dominated political parties the MCA could cooperate with.
“We must not lie to ourselves and think that one day Umno may just disappear. Many Malays still believe that only through Umno that their rights can be protected and this is the reality,” he said when closing the party’s annual general assembly.
Only losers subject themselves entirely to the mercies of ‘reality.’
Of course Umno’s evils will not disappear on it’s own, nobody’s that daft. But if you’re willing to stand with principled Malays and add to their strength, you can free yourselves from Umno’s shackles herald a new dawn (see banner above).
Perpetuating the unholy myth of Umno’s invincibility is just about the most irresponsible, destructive thing you can do – as a Chinese, and as a decent human being. It’s almost traitorous, to all things good and principled.
No other Malay-led party? Bullshit.
One of the reasons I joined KeADILan is because racial politics – be it Malay, Chinese or anything else – disgusts me to the core. I also joined because I refuse to be fooled by the racist exploitations (on all sides) that BN has viciously engaged in, especially since ‘69.
I refuse to accept that Malays and non-Malays cannot sit together as a single political entity.
I refuse to accept that the Chinese and others must prostrate ourselves and cower before the unsheathed keris-keris of a segment of the Malay community that has destroyed everything that is sacred to Malay and Malaysian culture.
I refuse to accept that the only way to fight for Chinese rights is to have an exclusively Chinese party.
If Ong Ka Ting and the MCA cannot see past their petty noses and take this exceedingly rare opportunity to rid Malaysia of the scourge of second class citizenships, why follow their sinking ship?
Because you fear riots?
I’m not one to promote conflict needlessly, or simply aggravate communities. In Machap and Ijok, MCA went around saying that if you vote opposition, there will be riots.
I despise the thought of riots.
But do you think we’re stupid enough to kow-tow in fear while never, ever looking to address the
underlying driving forces that may feed such riots?
Ethnic conflict can only occur when there is real ethnic division. Ethnic division can only be eradicated when the inherently racist Umno-led BN system is abolished completely.
So, the BN uses the threat of riots to stay in power, while itself basically being the sole reason why Malaysians might ever turn against one another in violence.
MCA members, there are Malays in KeADILan willing to be brave to stand up for your rights and almost literally stick their necks out for you. In light of this, you still want to prop up those keris-wielding supremacist bigots in Umno?
And don’t pretend that you like your ‘brothers’ in Umno; nobody believes you, least of all Umno. I’ve heard what you say behind their backs.
*
Umno’s desperate search for relevance always translates into a search for someone to kick.
Now, if they were really sincere, they’d join MCA in trying to kick the Opposition. But even that is too much unity for Umno. Why engage in any real cooperation with any non-Malays at all? That’s entirely against the spirit of Umno, isn’t it?
Are they afraid that MCA loses will mean less seats for BN? Absolutely not. They couldn’t care less, because a seat held by MCA vs. a seat held by a Chinese opposition party is basically no difference to them – it’s win win.
Umno has survived over the ages by demonising the non-Malays, especially the Chinese. Doesn’t matter whether they’re MCA, Gerakan or DAP.
They wasted no time doing it either; Malaysiakini Headlines reports:
Utusan Malaysia reported that Malay politicians have urged the government not to heed MCA’s call for open tenders in granting government projects as this is against the New Economic Policy.
Racist MCA playing directly into racist Umno hands. Sigh.
*
Let’s examine DS Ong’s lame ass excuse for willing to remain caught in this trap and be a lapdog for life.
Ong said MCA would never cooperate with PAS and Parti Keadilan Rakyat even though the latter said it favoured the abolition of the New Economic Policy.
“We still remember what he did when (Keadilan adviser) Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim was the education minister. It is so hard to get his approval on matters concerning Chinese schools. Today we built 70 Chinese primary schools since 1999.”
*That’s* the best you can come up with?
You really want to know who the real Chinese educationists are with? Do you really see them out there campaigning for MCA?
I’ve personally witnessed representative after representative from Dong Jiao Zong (Chinese educationist movement) and other groups come out in support of KeADILan. They know that MCA ultimately has no real clout, and that Umno couldn’t care less about anything besides lip service (always fair? *gags*).
DS Anwar is out there putting his career on the line to fight for what is right and abolish the corruption and injustice that the NEP has become. Have you any idea how much he’s risking there?
And you want to pick on issues that the most hardcore Chinese educationists have moved on from?
Not only that how does DS Ong ‘fight’ for Chinese rights?
By asking for more government contracts.
:|
DS Ong, don’t encourage the stereotype of money-obsessed Chinese; the Chinese have proven that they can survive with or without government contracts.
What we want is dignity. The ability to stand proudly shoulder to shoulder with all other Malaysians, and be treated just like everyone else.
Umno isn’t going to give you that. Because Umno is built specifically to prevent that.
Look past your nose and the money you and your predecessors – advertently or inadvertently – sold the Chinese out for, DS Ong. There’s a dignified future ahead for all of us, be a part of it while you can.
*
ps- remember what happened after this?

a little hunky dory pow-wow, which lead to this:

Sigh, supposed to speak out against violence, in the end, have to be chummy with violence mongerers. Sigh..

Now, I really like this post. :)
“And don’t pretend that you like your ‘brothers’ in Umno; nobody believes you, least of all Umno. I’ve heard what you say behind their backs. ”
Haha…
By the way Nat, just curious.. do you happen to have plans to run for the coming elections, whenever they may be?
I see you as somewhat, a representative icon of a new breed of Malaysian politicians– young upper-middle class idealists who are actually not going into this so much for your own self-motivated reasons (personal injustice experienced, wealth, etc.) , and I’m quite excited to see the dynamics of your involvement (and peers) on the voting board – and how the mass public will take to you.
That aside, to be honest, sometimes an almost instant and unconscious reaction to your posts would be the disturbing thought that “a Malaysia without racial bias? … is that even Malaysia anymore?” . It’s quite alarming to realize that I’ve made Malaysia synonymous with some of the malaise Malaysia has :/, and think it’s just quid pro quo – compromises for some stability.
I have a good read. Tasty post.
I believe you might have missed a point on racial politic.
To most Malay (not all, but quite a big majority), it seems to be the only way. Even if they’re poor, they bought into the idea what UMNO will help them and no other party will. So, who you think will vote Keadilan?
Educated people vote Keadilan. Unfortunately, with our crap education system. Your chances are so slim.
So, now you see why BN keep education crap?
Becoz they want more stupid people around; to be brainwashed.
Harsh reality. Even Chinese votes MCA. and Indian votes MIC.
It sounds too hard to believe? Believe it. (Ripley)
[...] Oh, also. I’m really glad none of you can see pictures I’m tagged on facebook, because they are really atrociously hideous. I shall be generous and show you one of them today, because I think I look like one of those fat MCA politicians on TV possibly discussing how wonderful the Chinese have it in Malaysia today. Provoked thought inspired by this. [...]
you got it right there Nat : “What we want is dignity. The ability to stand proudly shoulder to shoulder with all other Malaysians, and be treated just like everyone else.”
After 50 years non bumis seemed more and more like 2nd class citizens in our own country.
If MCA has any dignity at all – they would have mobilized their supporters to set things right by first telling Umnoputras to stop using other races, esp the Chinese as punching bags.
MCA got meeker and weaker ever since Ling LS took over. and When KT Ong took over the newspaper played up his stature by saying he is a non confrontational person and a great strategist who prefer to work behind the scene and this will work well as the 2nd largest component party in BN.
Now I comprehend. As the racist comments increased in volumes and frequency the less this Ong guy has anything to say.
Work behind the scene .. definitely but is very obvious not for the good of what MCA is supposedly standing for. I think some of the more true blue MCA presidents must be having nightmares seeing how the original spirit of MCA is being slowly but surely eroded and destroy by a couple of gutless imbecile masquerading as the people representative.
But anyway, communal politics has no place in today world neither is religion based politics. As such, as a Malaysian(first) and a chinese I dont see nor believe that MCA is relevant today.
On the other hand, going by what Ong is harping on – they are actually a hazard to their believer. He is not standing for dignity for the people whom he is supposedly representing but on how to kow tow and be subservient so that the 2 or 3% of chinese up there can continue getting the crumbs dropping off the bandwagon. The rest of the chinese can very well fend for themselves.
I do hope PKR or DAP could muster enough strength to help change the current political landscape.
All I ever wanted is good governance, the rule of law, freedom of speech and information, freedom to be a Malaysian and not a Chinese Malaysian or a bumi.
All i wanted is fairness, a good economy, a good leader who believes in integrity and transparency and not skin color or who you know.

Pimp : 1. a person, esp. a man, who solicits customers for a prostitute or a brothel, usually in return for a share of the earnings; pander; procurer.
2. a despicable person. – http://dictionary.reference.com/
These are some of the definition of a pimp also known locally as “Or Kwee Tau”, or “OKT”; and the definition of a Prostitute is a man or woman, that trades their flesh for monetary gains.
OKT can be describe as a professional salesperson that can sells old prostitute, big fat prostitute, ugly prostitute, leaking prostitute, keris weaving prostitute or just plain stupid prostitute.
There is another type of salesperson, a professional salesperson, that plies their trade – “Scratch & Win” on unsuspecting customers, be them Malays, Chinese or Indians, aggressive selling through coax, hoax or simple threats.
These Scratch and win salesperson can only best be describes as nuisance as their trades are being describe daily in the papers, with warning to potential unsuspecting customers, and of late, consumers are getting smarter and are rejecting these aggressive selling tactics, dismissing these salesperson.
Of these two professional salesperson that are describe briefly, OKT being the most immoral as they are exploiting the customers and the prostitutes trust in him; whereas the other, their trades and tricks are well known to everyone, and are not taken seriously.
Enough of that and that pimp, prostitute, definition, trades and such, now on to NatTan’s piece about 2nd Class Citizenship…
Is the Chinese, a second class citizen in Malaysia? I say no, we are not a second class citizen, there might be some dual citizenship in Mr. Ong’s party, but we are no second class, we are Malaysians.
These are just some random thoughts and should any resemblance, similarity between any living or non living person or a very decease person; it’s just purely coincidental and should only be treated as such.
Incidently, if I appear to talk out of the point, it is because I am out of point, or simply still quite don’t get the point.

I was chatting with my colleagues and my boss over the lunch and we touch on MCA. I casually mentioned MCA just talk kok most of the time, lip service and will cower in fear when UMNO tell them to shut up. What good is MCA? My boss, and my senior said “At least, Ong Ka Ting do a bit more work then Ling Liong Sik. We can see some changes that he tries to make, create more voice for the Chinese” I wanted to puke hearing that. But, generally most of Chinese out there think Ong Ka Ting is doing work?? And most of the Chinese out there cannot see beyond communal politics!!!! They do no trust someone from other race to take care of their rights, to defend them, to represent them etc. Why?? Something need to be done, or things will not change for better.

Good blog my friend.
i dont like when some older generation say they scared riots or May 13 if chinese dont vote Barisan. If we dont change and work towards bangsa malaysia, we will live at the sympathy of ketuanan Melayu UMNO in 15 years time. Enough of compromising, NEP for 38 years, not enough arr….Dont remember , there were 3 bangsa whom fly to England to negotiate Malaysia’s independence.
