Brief Updates

Hi everyone! :)

Haven’t been able to write as much as I like these last few hours, so sorry!

KeADILan, DAP and by a pretty random stroke (thanks Rachel, Tim and Will!), the Red Breakfast show on 104.9 FM have all been kind enough to play host to me recently – thank you all very much!

There are videos and/or sound recordings of these events, but I unfortunately don’t have them with me yet. If anyone can be provide them, I would be most grateful :) I’ll try to blog about the great experiences I had there and what was discussed as soon as I can.

I still feel hopeless inadequate when it comes to thanking people :( So many have done so much, so it’s especially difficult to embark on a way to properly thank them all that I’ve been stuck doing almost nothing (which is worse!)

Between the events and rest, I haven’t even been able yet to go through my e-mail (my one week of neglected work is turning into two – boss marah wait! :P :) But will try to get on that asap!

I’m not sure I’ll ever get the full picture of who made which touching sacrifice or marvellous show of support, and I really wish I could. I’m terrified of starting to name names because surely someone will be excluded :(

So if you haven’t heard from me personally, please accept my humblest apologies and regrets :( I’ll try my best to cover everyone, and don’t ever hesitate to beep me at nat{at]jelas.info with any and all advice on who to thank (including yourself!!)

I think my dad & family are planning thank-you initiatives of their own as well :)

Okie, gotta get ready to go for the BERSIH convention tonite :) Do stop by if you can (I know it’s late notice!), it’ll be an important event, and I’ll get to thank you in person!

Next on the blogging agenda includes exploring what Dtk Johari and TS Musa Hassan’s ongoing spat may have had to do with my arrest :P

Thanks as always! :)

Welcome home. Almost all bloggers nationally and internationally all had a cyberspace vigil for you.

Your experience is a further proof of what Mahathir had said late last year: Malaysia is turning into a Police State by UMNO. There is a mental siege in the UMNO rank and file as election nears.

Our view is that you are a victim, and the first of many, of the power play between Johari and Musa Hassan.

During your incarceration, we blogged that view on Malaysian Unplug:

    Read here: http://malaysianunplug.blogspot.com/2007/07/blogger-nathaniel-tan-first-victim-of.html

We have every reason to believe that is so. This spat betweent the Johari and Musa should be exposed for what it is. The Deputy Minister is out to have a one-up on the Police because Johari feels the Police let him down or did not protect him when he was accused anonymously of bribery on the internete… instead Musa helped ACA in the investigation. Johari thought the Police being under the Internal Security Ministry should be protecting him.

Police had to act on Johari’s instruction, and you are the easy victim. It was a lame excuse to get you… but Musa had to find a sacrificial lamb to appease Johari.

I hope political analysts and bloggers will delve deeper into this and flush out this high stake power play in which innocent citizens are made scape goats for their nonsensical display in public.
