Let me thank you personally - Press Conference at KeADILan HQ, 10am, July 19
Dearest all,
I’m still overwhelmed with appreciation, wanting to hug everyone tight and say thank you, thank you so much… :)
Words don’t really do it, so……. <3 <3 <3
*
As darling polytikus blogged, it’s the morning after :)
I’m really sorry I haven’t been able to talk much yet, especially to the press. I’ve been extremely grateful for all the coverage, especially from the Chinese press (incl. online), Malaysiakini, and all you online netizens :D
I’ve not seen everything, but I really can’t wait to :)
Last night, with polytikus’ indispensable help, I started the process of chronicling all that happened to me.
I’m a very big believer in historical detail and accuracy, and I fear that if I don’t quickly write down everything that happened, I will forget some details.
So, before I start getting the many things off my chest to the world at large, I’d like to make sure that all the details are at my fingertips, and that they’re the most accurate available.
Hopefully, all will be done by today, and by tomorrow, we’ll be ready to discuss everything, and answer all questions extensively (I may just talk your ears off :)
I’m hoping to do this at a Press Conference that will be open to all, including the police :) and especially bloggers (hidup bloggers! :) , to be held at 10.00 am, Thursday, 19th July, at KeADILan Headquarters, 110-3 Jalan Tun Sambanthan, Brickfields.
I’m very much looking forward to explaining everything there, and again beg forgiveness from the press I’ve been unable to speak to yet - it’s far from ingratitude, I’m promise!

I’m doing fine, for the so very many of you who’ve been concerned. My tail bone still hurts after four nights on the dirty cement, and the body is readjusting in general. But I’ll be ok :)
Both last night and this morning, my thoughts were still with the people rotting away with me in the lockup.
A truly short while ago, these men were the only human contact I had for hours upon hours on end.
I really want to write a lot about the humanity and decency I experienced while behind bars; for now, I just wanted to remember them to the world.
There don’t seem to be many places outside the house that I feel like going to right now, but the Dang Wangi police station is sorta one place I wouldn’t mind, if only to drop off a few bottles of clean drinking water (as opposed to that ungodly stuff that comes out of taps which inmates drink) and kirim salam.
I don’t know if I’ll make it there today, but if any of you are in the area and feel like stopping by to do so, both they and me would really appreciate it.
ps- condolences to the Nuri crash families :(

Even if you get tired of hearing it, I’m not going to tire of saying it: thank you. All of you.
I’m looking forward to saying so in person :)

Sorry mate, time and place do not permit but would love to attend the pressie. Anyway, “thank you” is not what we solicit from you, what we want is for you to speak our mind.

Press conference on video would be a great idea.
It is good to know you are ok Nat and after all you have been through over the past few days your only thoughts are to tell everyone what you went through and the well being of those you were locked up with, A humanitarian to the end!
Nathaniel, that’s a working day and during working hours. Perhaps you could blog about what happened during the press conference so that those who cannot make it during that period are aware of what’s going on. You have been a major hero after your detention (and i am sure there will be an increased of votes too) and there is even an article by John Lee at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nathaniel_Tan . Well done Nathaniel.
Hope Cheryl News Network (CNN) will have a coverage on the press conferences? :-)
[...] Nat has also updated his blog “Personally” which you can see by clicking “Here” [...]
Nat, its such a relief that you are out. Your desire to go back to visit the inmates is very typical of yourself and goes to show how ridiculous it was to imprison you in the first place.
But there you go, Nat Tan, fighting the good fight, humanitarian, my fellow bodek and Star Wars geek (prob not as much as me). I pray that you are safe and healthy and continue to speak your mind and crack those silly jokes.
Would be interesting to see if you mumble during press conference. Try and sneak a ‘bodek’ or two in it, hehe.
Congratulations! You have just won the honor of being:
The Altantuya Murder case smokescreen!
Razak Baginda who? Najib who? Huh?
Your arrest has sucessfully drawn attention away from this case, bloggers like MM, EliWong, even Fundie Camel Jockey Wannabe’s like MENJ and Mahaguru58, now write about you!
You have now joined the ranks of:
Black Metal devil worshipping kids - as Islamic Family Act smokescreen.
That aside, I can’t for the life of me fathom why a Harvard grad like you would choose to associate yourself with some one as sleazy and hypocritical as Anwar Ibrahim?
As a student in the 80’s I’d been subjected to his Islamic/Malay supremacist rhetoric (I am Malay) as part of Biro Tata Negara’s good cop, bad cop act for government scholarship holders.
As a businessman, I’ve dealt with his (and other) crony individuals/businesses.
He’s a used car salesman, nothing more.
And he has crappy cars to sell.
Nat,
I’m humbly touched by your compassion and caring concerns for your new friends still locked-up in Dang Wangi and condolences to families of Nuri helicoper crash.
Malaysia needs new MPs like you to build a truly Malaysian Malaysia !
I’ll see you tomorrow then.
BTW, Smokescreen .. there’s much more than meets the eye. Thanks for trying to pull up a new smokescreen.
So, boss, when does the JustNetworks office reopen? ;)
This is the first news i heard of you since you left Sunway College. You are still the compassionate, kind, and courteous boy I knew.
Take good care of your health so you can continue to lawan. I am very proud of you, pray that you are the CHANGE that we wanted to see.:-)
Ex teacher in Sunway.
Welcome home Nat! You’re free now. That’s all that matters.
I for one take offense to the spineless and ball less swine who come in here and bad mouth MENJ and myself without knowing us in person.
I blog straightforward as the man that I am and don’t hide behind a pseudonym as the sweepstakes wimp here.
Islamophobes who don’t have the courage to face up to the truth and real Islam surely have nothing but insults to give to the world whereas we blogging Muslims don’t differentiate or discriminate when it comes to defending our fellow Malaysians.
See you soon Nat. Stay away from the spineless swine!
Great to know that you are back in action, Nat!
I personally travelled all the way to meet you, but the spineless swine who remained nameless and yet had the cheek to badmouth myself behind my back is a coward who will never have the bravery to show his/her support as I did, I am sure! The camel jockey wannabe is certainly that person, not yours truly.
In any case, welcome back and hope to hear from you again.
Regards.

Sigh.
(MENJ, as usual, misses the point)
I don’t know you both? I assume by that you mean interacting physically with you to determine that under all the calls for a fundamentalist law and death to apostates, you’re both really warm and fuzzy?
Mahaguru’s shown that he’d like to be a Muslim Batman, a “moral” vigilante who goes about righting what he preceives to be morally wrong, bullying young lovers in public. MENJ, wants to be his sidekick Robin, eagerly trying to prove to Batman that he too, is worthy of being a Fundie Superhero - blatantly insulting non muslim religions, Christianity in particular, like a playground bully.
Your words and actions define you and your ilk - Evil Throwbacks.
I don’t need to invite Hitler and Pol Pot over for a cuppa to know that they were evil fascists, misguided by their warped beliefs.
You have every right to spew your fascist hate speech on the internet.
Don’t expect me to just sit quietly and watch that filth misrepresent my country.
And I find it completely hypocritical how someone like MENJ, can brutally insult Christianity, then come up and say that he “supports Nat”.
There is something seriously WRONG with that way of thinking.
To Mahaguru’s credit, at least he keeps things centered around his own religious perspective and has a degree of respect.
I had some degree of respect for this man until the straw that broke the camel’s back - his playing plain clothes JAWI/JAIS man. That tells me he has no respect for individual rights, and is a potential public menace.
good that you are finally released. I think its the combined vigil, presurre from bloggers that have quicken the process. I like the way this blogger puts it.

So do they still have your PC?
And if so, how are you going to DOTAAAAAAA???
Glad to hear you’re in good spirits. Glad to hear that you are still the same man. Glad to hear that despite the persecution you still think about others first. Most importantly, I’m glad to hear you’re out.
Regards from jon, janine and everyone in Vancouver.
Thank God, you’re OK, out and free.
Hey Nat,
glad you made it out. Sorry abt what happened to you. but if its you today, it could be us tomorrow. Keep up the spirit.
I hope to one day see Malaysia as a place where law, the constitution is respected, and the small man enjoys his liberty without fear of intimidation.
Let’s do what we bloggers can do. I’m open to suggestion.
Thank God that you are unharmed and released.
I am glad to know that johnleemk is with you, 2 young bright principled minds who gives me much hope that there are people out there who will do by what’s right for this country and her people.
P.S. I hope you have taken the right path by working with Anwar Ibrahim - he’s responsible for what has become of Malaysia today, and, please be reminded a leopard never change its spots - so be extra cautious and hopes your allegiance is not misplaced..
Oh my - what an ordeal they put you through! We’re so happy you’re back in the lovely arms of Li Tsin (gotta still meet her!) Since you mentioned you’re gonna thank everyone personally - when can i pick you up from Vancouver airport? Much love and continued prayers from over here. And Simon says “just wish him well!!!”
When you come over - Marcus is gonna show you the ‘Free Uncle Nat’ Chant !!
Hey Nat, remember your friends from squash at Lakeview? Glad to hear you’re alright!
