Comments on Malaysiakini article - KeADILan’s increased support vs. Umno’s violent desperation
Posted on May 2nd, 2007 by Nathaniel Tan
Malaysiakini was kind enough to publish an article I wrote comparing the increase in the number of votes we got and the significance of Umno’s desperate, violent tactics at Ijok.
I might cut and paste the whole article here at some point, but will hold off for a while with due deference to MK - go get an account! Support politikus! :)
Anyway, this post is here mainly for you to post any comments you may have on that particular article. Thanks!

I know a number of people who regularly have their letters to Malaysiakin published. You’re the first one I ‘know’ who calls it ‘Published Writings’, though.
Technically not wrong, I suppose, but for awhile, I really thought it was of “published writings” of the academic sort.
*is embarassed for being syiok sendiri* :P :)
not the first comment i was hoping for on this article, but a fair one nonetheless :P :)
Letters are letters and op-eds are op-eds. Very different. Malaysiakini is a formidable publication, not of the print kind but it is still a publication nonetheless :)
Gooo Nat! :)
politikus assumes I do not hold malaysiakini in high regard. How does it reflect on a journalist or the publication you represent to so quickly jump to conclusions? What happened to Objectivity?
kudos nat, for accepting the comment for what it is. That I thought it might be publications of the academic sort came about because of your academic background. And that association, imo, does not necesssarily and in any way diminish the quality of your work, or the publication it appears in, should it?
omg, i’m so biased wei. of courselah! you come to nat’s site and point out say that its some universal truth that the term ‘publish writings’ is one used in an academic sense. you sounded strangely disappointed that nat’s ‘published writings’ were merely ‘letter’s’ in malaysiakini.
you’re the first to say so means the many many many people who has come to this site may not have have thought as you did.
there’s a difference in protecting nat in my personal capacity and in my professional one. i represent myself, you really don’t have to to attack my profession nor my media org.
looks you need to be more objective yourself.
oh my goodness.
behold, the emotion wrought by what was originally a comment that did not come up to expectations. My apologies to the owner of this website for having unwittingly caused this unpleasantness. I assure you I did not intend or forsee any of it.
Glad to see your active involvement in local politics, Nat. PKR has everything to gain and nothing to lose. Not so Barisan Nazional for whom losing an election means a great deal more than loss of face: an opposition majority in Parliament could lead to serious investigations of corrupt practices going back decades! To paraphrase a Hindustani proverb: “Dictators ride on the backs of tigers from which they dare not dismount.” Sorry to see KJ’s obnoxious (mis)behaviour, what a tragic waste of an Oxbridge accent! I recently heard Nabob Najib nattering away in impressive English - definitely one of the better speakers in Umno - but to what sleazy end?
