little missing key incident affirms my faith in basic human/malaysian decency

Bowling and arcading at 1 Utama with my younger cousins (last night for visiting Canadian cousin :( ), one of us actually misplaced our car keys – imagine our shock and horror.

I went back upstairs where the arcade caretaker was slowly turning off the games, and asked him about it – soon switching to my beyond-broken Cantonese (umm, ngo wan sor si ar…. :P ). It’s a miracle he understood. And even more miraculous when I eventually understood that this number he was showing me on his handphone was that of some guy who had called him about a missing key!

I called the number, full of hope, and the young gentleman who picked up confirmed that he had the key! I’m somewhat embarassed to say I offered RM 10 as a small token (hope he wasn’t offended!) but he very politely refused.

Which fool dares to say Malaysians cannot make it? The human decency and civic spirit shown – esp when this was the key to something obviously of some value – really warmed my heart. My deepest gratitude to the dude (didn’t catch your name sorry!) for both saving me a worldddd of trouble, and for the gift of inspiration that stems from such a shining example of basic human thoughtfulness and honour :)

ps- so behind work and blogging it’s not even funny :| really sorry guys, there’s stuff that i feel should really be talked about, but things are pretty hectic for now.. will try my best!
