Malaysiakini seems to have it first!
Rumours linking DPM DS Najib to the case may have been circulating for months now, but I believe this is the first time it’s finally out in the real press – interesting.
Basically Anwar calls into question a very neglected fact – that the police officers arrested in connection with the murder were in fact assigned to DS Najib’s detail. Given that and the close connection between DS Najib and Razak Baginda, Anwar believes the DPM should at least be questioned.
Anwar also comes out strongly against the Deputy Public Prosecutor Salehuddin Saidin who apparently claimed up front that only these three officers were involved in the case, and no one else.
I have to agree, that’s an extremely fishy thing for the prosecution to say. How does it help their case? Is it their place to make such exclusionary statements? Such statements will only fuel rumours that there were higher-ups involved in the planning of the murder.
I’m not sure what PKR is planning with all this (Batu Talam?), but it’ll be interesting to see whether or not the other news outfits cover this, and what the fallout will be. Will the government just ignore as usual? I guess we’re the ones who can try ever so hard to make noise to ensure that doesn’t happen!
naah, they are not interested in the batu talam seat and has agreed to back PAS.
i reckon all he did was ask the government a question that the ordinary mat joes (who’ve wondered about DPM’s involvement) have been too scared to ask.
mind you all the press were there and TV crew etc … what will the star say? what will NST write, if at all? :)
word. i was thinking perhaps they were doing some campaigning for PAS.. :)
