Malaysia Floods: Coverage and Aid

31/12 - I guess it’s no longer really feasible to keep updating this post. I’ll try to blog on developments as they occur. Sorry this wasn’t super comprehensive - I hope it was of some little help!

Original Post: I’m attempting to keep track of flood aid activities and other coverage. It’s pretty limited and scarce for now, but I’ll try to keep adding to this post as I find stuff, so check back. Would really appreciate any other leads or links!!

Nabil Feisal at loudtalk.net proposes that bloggers set up a fund, and use income to provide direct aid. Planning to look into the details further, and am trying to get the donation link to work on my site.

This seems to be a well updated Chinese site (pointed from YB Teresa Kok) focusing on Segamat I guess, but I don’t read/understand Chinese: http://www.segamat.8talk.net/

Update 22/12, 9.30pm: Caught some TV news earlier, and they seem to have set up their own donation accounts and such, but just missed the info. They don’t seem to have it online, anyone know what it is?

Quite a few Opposition ppl have started to hantam the government’s repsonse. I have to admit, I feel this is premature (immature?) and unwarranted at this point. Concentrate on the victims first, politics later - if at all.

I myself can’t tell if the government is doing a good job for now. Looks ok if you watch the state media, but who knows. Anyway, let’s keep trying? Thanks, btw, to all who are helping point to stuff - need more!
There’s one Nabil Feisal who’s looking to do a blogger’s campaign for the victims. I’m hoping to look into the details a little more, but in the meantime, check it out!

Update 23/12, 3pm: Looks like efforts are stepping up, somewhat late though it may be. I’ve updated stuff below. Sorry this post is getting a little messy. Prior updates will be archived below.

Nabil Feisal at loudtalk.net is stepping up his efforts to set up a blogger’s campaign for the flood victims, calling for bloggers do register directly - bloggers, do check it out. (Nabil: get the paypal link fixed! :)*

Update 24/12, 7pm - Managed to get the loudtalk.net donation link working, so click on the button top right of the page to support a blogosphere initiative to help flood victims! To put the button on your own website, see the code pasted here.
Mylongkang.com has been busy putting up updates over the weekend, check it out. Other new links and points below!

27/12 - 7pm: Sorry about the lack of updates, things to take care of + slow internet makes for poor showing from me this post :(

Nothing below has changed, but - mylongkang.com is still on the ball with this extensively linked post, loudtalk.net has sadly closed down his donation button and is reworking his blogger’s campaign, and The Malaysian has a fairly recent update.
